Enjoyed that game. Didnβt think utd deserved anything but Ronaldo is just unreal. Thatβs just a superb finish. Really something else.

Definitely papering over cracks as you say Nil. There’ll be big highs and shocking lows as long as Ole is still there. Who knows which one Saturday will be. Ole usually does just enough to survive when it’s least expected so wouldn’t at all surprise me if we won Saturday but nor would another 0-5.

Yes not scapegoating Pogba Sean, just saying defensively with those players playing they’ll always be it bit more open. A proper manager would have let Pogba go long ago, but it’s as though they’re still hoping he’ll live up to his fee.

There is no doubt in my mind ROnaldo is masking the problem at United. He both causes a problem Ole can’t seem to fix (as in how do you fit him in and defend) but also he bails them out with goals no one else would score. I mean, the goal against Spurs at the weekend, there really aren’t any other players in the world that will score that goal. At the other end, Son (who in my mind is an outstanding player) had a tight chance and puts it wide. I suppose my point is, if those situations were inversed the game plays out very differently and the difference is Ronaldo. Imagine the world of shit United would be in right now if he wasn’t there?

You can’t just take Ronaldo out and think Utd would be worse off missing his goals, the whole dynamic of the team would likely change. He is a world class finisher no doubt about that but a passenger when it comes to defending. But without him maybe the team can actually press (would need to sort out Pogba and Fernandes too mind, like only ever play one) and as a team would be better off? Maybe Utd’s strikers score less but the team as a whole scores more and more importantly wins more? All ifs, buts and maybes but football is always about the team not the scoring exploits of one exceptionally good finisher.
I’ve maintained the thoughts since he signed that whilst many will see him as the most positive thing in the Utd team he is actually one of the main causes of their failures and would be better off benching him for Cavani.
