I actually think that was the best we’ve played all season. Our performances in the champions league have been excellent, we’ve just made silly mistakes. Today luckily we only made the one but didn’t let it affect us. Danny rose was simply incredible. Best performance I’ve ever seen from him. Sissoko was again excellent. Ok, it wasn’t full strength Barca but I couldn’t give a shit – they still had Semedo, Rakitic, Busquets, dembele, Coutinho, Messi.
Well done to Liverpool as well. Somehow all 4 teams are through.

11th December 2018 at 10:23 pm #29354AnonymousSean, I know you’ve been making your mind up about Alisson for a while now and it may continue. I do have to ask though, has that concluded yet? For me, that was a £15m save and I’m not exaggerating. The rest of the team should have finished Napoli off, like they would have last season. This is actually what i’ve been banging on about all the time. The switch from our attack getting our defence out of trouble is now the opposite. Of course, in an isolated game, we won and thats not the case because Salah scored but a goal against at that time was us 99.999% out.
Alisson is just SO ASSURED. You could forgive him for suffering from having cold gloves, or being rattled by the time pressure but he was neither. He was alert and yet calm. I can’t give this guy enough credit. Seriously, if the attack gets back to a better finishing rate, they’ll blow teams away. I’m not complaining though because it was a performance worthy of going through.
It is worrying that van Dijk will miss the first leg but we can look at it in a slightly positive way, in that he will finally get a little rest! Touch wood we’ll have Gomez back and playing brilliantly then too, so its not so bad.
Robertson was great tonight. he’s the name that comes to mind when I think of MoTM but I wouldn’t get in a scrap over it. I think Wijnaldum played really well, except that his finishing was dreadful.
It’s great to be through to the next round. We were too casual in the previous games and that could have cost us.
we need to enjoy what we have now while it lasts. we came so close to being out of Europe but we live to see another 2 matches.
Bring on Utd
Oh and great to see Spurs through also. It’d about time that the PL took its throne back.

11th December 2018 at 11:45 pm #29357Oz…now do you believe, mate? Just got back from the game, and boy, did we make it difficult for ourselves with Mane’s missed chances, but we deserved it. As I said to you earlier, Oz, we are well drilled and hard to beat as well. You’ve got to show a bit of faith in yoiur team, mate!
And the referee was abysmal!

12th December 2018 at 2:40 am #29358AnonymousHightown!! I sometimes forget who’s on here. We got all the good posters. We could do with Rob and a few others tho.
Forgive me if I may be a complete asshole on TT btw. I’ve had it with a few of them on there and I’m going to let them know it.
Anyway it wont take away from this win. In many ways it spells out our season in just one game. I hate to say it though boys, I think that our defence is going to suffer with Gomez out. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again but he’s just as good as van Dijk for me. I think Matip did well enough but his pacey passing caught the lads off today a few times. Its not his fault though and was actually the lads fault. getting used to!
Gotta love Milner.. he ran his ass into the ground for us tonight. I have so much respect for him because I know that even forgetting the football related skills, I could never be like him. That unrelenting determination. he likely wont start the Utd game tohugh and the issue is we might have needed him.
anyway I waffle on. Feckin great win. Im so happy to be through.
If you take one thing away from this nonsense post, let it be that no matter what happens in the PL between now and February, our season stays alive!!YNWA ALL

12th December 2018 at 4:33 am #29359AnonymousProves once again why the EPL is far superior to any other league while Europe itself is superior to any other continent, If Arsenal and Chelsea were there they also would have qualified to the next stage, Viva England, anyway off to slave now while you people relax in your comfortable surroundings, some of us have to make the world go around.

12th December 2018 at 8:00 am #29360Ye mak I’ve seen enough of Alison now to make a judgement on him and he’s very good
So assured and brilliant at one on ones
Mtge turn around in our defence is remarkableMatip was excellent last but I’m never one to go overboard but vvd is one of the top 3 centre backs in the works along with Thiago Silva and koubalily
Utd shoukd Break the bank for koubalily

12th December 2018 at 8:48 am #29361Your game was tense?? Our’s was no walk in the park for the nerve-dog!
Loved it at the end of our game, all the Spud players were walking around and you could see nobody had a clue about the Pizza result, then the Spud-fans went absolutely mental up in the stands, loved the look on players faces… “I think we’re in, lads!”… priceless!!
On another note, I’ve given him a ton of grief on here to our Dancing Disco Queen but, and not for the first time lately, he was one of our better if not the best players last night.
He is, without a doubt, our “Strictly Ballroom Champion” now, most improved player by a country mile, and if he keeps this up, in with a decent shout of being our player of the year (half expect the fans to vote him “Fans Player of the Year!”)

12th December 2018 at 9:30 am #29364Young man, I was referring to the recent and decent performances of Sisssiko, unquestionably our most improved player this season, playing himself into an almost undroppable form, whilst mentioning that perhaps the fans of Tottenham Hotspur would possibly claim our game last night was as nerve-wrecking as your own… 🙂

12th December 2018 at 1:22 pm #29370Spurs preference in Europe has historically always been all white whenever possible all the way back to the ECW Cup win.
Much bigger challenges lie ahead for Spurs in the CL than they faced last night.
If Liverpool get a decent draw in the Round of 16 given their improvements with the signings they’ve made, the strength of their defence, capabilities of the front three and the experience of last season I think they have a real chance of going all the way this season their biggest challengers will imo be Barca,Juve and City But going all out for the CL and the PL might well cost either of them the PL.

12th December 2018 at 2:46 pm #29378Important win for Liverpool and important draw for Spurs. Both clubs through to the knockout by the flesh of their skin congratulations to them. I’m relieved not to face more English teams in the Europa although Napoli cannot be taken lightly.
I have to say i will be lying if i say that am not disgusted with the Van Dijk horrific tackle. I don’t know how the referee missed it.
