Sean, to be fair in under 3 years at United he took them to 2nd place in the PL an FA Cup Final and won the League Cup and the Europa League which is more than other Managers of top Clubs achieved in a similar period and more.
He’s still tactically very bright imo and raring to go and prove people wrong which imo is a bit worrying
Jose is a pragmatic Manager and he will use the right tactics to get the right result but I can’t remember too many games at Chelsea where he played 6 at the back and Chelsea played some great attacking football under him too.
I get that Jose is disliked and why and I think that often colours people’s opinion of him as a Manager.
“I may be wrong. I think this will all end in tears as usual and canβt see him
and Levy getting on”Without there is a dramatic change in Jose’s behaviour I think most would agree with the above.

21st November 2019 at 1:51 pm #53497Ye nine I canβt really argue with anything you say mate but itβs the way he left utd and the last 6 months which was the problem. He left them in a worst state then when he took over
It also proved what many of us said on here when he went to utd that he be gone before the end of the third season. He lost the plot and he lost the plot in his final few months at Chelsea aswell

21st November 2019 at 5:05 pm #53512Sean, can’t disagree with that mate Jose completely lost the plot at Chelsea in his last few months there it all started to disintegrate following the Eva Carniero incident.
If you’re a Spurs fan you just gotta hope he’s learnt from everything that went before.
I think it’s a tough role though if he doesn’t get the required support in the transfer market from Levy and that will lead to frustration and fall outs no matter how much he says he’s happy with the current squad because it’s a long way from being good enough to challenge City and Liverpool as things stand.

21st November 2019 at 6:12 pm #53526I, for one, have missed the man ?
Mourinho: "I am humble"
Mourinho five minutes later asked if he thinks losing the Champions League final affected the Spurs squad: "I don't know because I never lost a Champions League final"

To go back to this comment Sean, I think achievements and near achievements especially aren’t everything. I’m definitely not going to dilute the value of a Europa League cup. I don’t rate the early and maybe even mid stages of the tournament, it needs a strip down/revamp, winning it is a big big achievement but how the team plays is also important. No disrespect to King Kenny at all but I found his near 2 domestic cup haul season to be dull. The football we played (in my opinion!) was uninteresting.
if you look at the investment in that utd team that Jose had though and the absolutely dire football he had them playing, I think it was 100% warranted that he be sacked. Of course, I wouldn’t stop there but everyone here by now knows how little I respect Woodward.

22nd November 2019 at 11:00 am #53597I would be amazed if Aurier gets too many starts under Jose Stevo. Aurier is an accident waiting to happen.

22nd November 2019 at 11:16 am #53606unless Maureen really has learned fomr past mistakes, but in all honesty, it really is very difficult to change who you are, how you think and how you react (especially minutes after a big game on TV when you might have lost)…i think he has the best intentions its a case of can a leopard change its spots?!

22nd November 2019 at 11:27 am #53607its a real shame in these circumstances that the old manager doesnt get to say a proper good bye to everyone, he built close relationships with many of the players

22nd November 2019 at 9:10 pm #53656Mourinho is a good manager, he does get things wrong….that is part of being human. What I find mystifying is the story of Mourinho is bigger than the reality. The media generate and thrive on it. True he gets a big salary but none of us knows what internal conflicts he is confronted with to make the job easier or harder. I am not making any excuses for the guy but I would like to give him a fair crack of the whip and wish him well in his new job Time will tell
Who is next Klopp, Pep ????? Nothing is forever, if you are winning…enjoy it_____________________________

22nd November 2019 at 9:24 pm #53650Mak, I think Jose deserved to be sacked by utd for the same reason Poch deserved the sack in the end, they didnt want to be their respective clubs and it was obvious in their words, actions and the results on the pitch. Thinking back to it, what must have Levy been thinking when Poch said he would quit if spurs win champs league, lost and then carried on begrudgingly?
As for Jose’s achievements at utd though, I think he developed the team well in the first season and got the maximum possible out of them in the second, I dont think anyone else would have done better than 81 points with that squad, given the competition. Problem with it was the expectation on him to win the league, the moment it became clear to him that utd would not get any better than 2nd best without further investment I think he rightly wanted out and lost belief, you cant hide that from your players and the fans, it became more and more evident until it was impossible to continue.
I think the difference at spurs is there is no real expectation for them to win the league under jose, and what he achieved at utd would be respected if he did it with spurs, even though spurs have the better squad, the way we (and media) collectively set expectations for each club is so illogical and as Jose referred to in his press conference, it is changing the game.
One thing I found interesting was when he said if he wins the league with spurs it will not be because of him but because of the work the club has done, thats kind of true but he would be a massive factor in it if they did win the title. Seems strange and out of character for Jose to play down his own brilliance and importance doesnt it? Well if he is not responsible for any success they may have, then the converse is he will not be responsible if they have none, as the failure will simply be a consequence of the work the club has done too…Clever man Jose, but I am slightly less worried about him at spurs simply because of this one statement, although I am also going out of my way to find reasons as to why he will fail a spurs, would really hurt to see him succeed with them, and I believe he can.

23rd November 2019 at 12:06 am #53668Spud’s games before Christmas include West Ham, United and Wolves away from home and Chelsea at home. Their top four fate could well be determined before Christmas depending upon point accrual in those matches.
At the same time Chelsea have City and Everton away however West Ham, Villa and Bournemouth at home before Spuds away.
Leicester have City away and Liverpool at home around Christmas and both back to back however prior to that a good run of totally winnable matches.
Maybe we could have an early Mourinho implosion when we have a good look at the table at Christmas.
The January transfer window may well be utilised to stabilise a sinking ship not finance a charge for fourth. It will be interesting.

23rd November 2019 at 5:48 am #53674Anonymous“Mak, I think Jose deserved to be sacked by utd for the same reason Poch deserved the sack in the end, they didnt want to be their respective clubs and it was obvious in their words, actions and the results on the pitch. ”
LD, I don’t think you can compare the 2 scenarios though. Poch made Spurs into nearly great team. Whatever words you want to describe them, they played fantastic football (Jose’s Utd never did, not one time.). Poch brought them from one level to within 90 minutes of the best trophy in the sport.
To so narrowly miss out on an already seemingly over-achieved, yet realistic target is a tombstone for the following season. I need only point at Rodger’s Liverpool (although not as simple as scenario , given Suarez and Sturridge issues but still).
Sometimes to get so near does more damage than to be too far. It’s a matter of psychology and also physiology. We can push ourselves to great limits for a time. It is actually possible to exceed your potential in a burst. It might not seem possible with simple mathematics but it none-the-less is.
The other thing worth note is that Poch will walk into any job in the world. If Klopp left tomorrow, he’d walk into Liverpool, Mourinho wouldn’t.

23rd November 2019 at 5:50 am #53675AnonymousMaureen has already handed in the players list he would like Levy to bring in to challenge for league honours, trusted media sources say its Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe, van Dyke and Bale. Here I thought he would be more interested in strengthening their terrible defense.
