5th January 2025 at 10:57 am #217130I know friends who are planning to attend the game(both United and Liverpool fans), they are struggling and say they may not risk it. It is still snowing where I live. That is 45 minutes away.

5th January 2025 at 11:05 am #217131Can’t call it off now, especially when half of Essex have already made it up the M1… would put all those Micky Mousers with just a little jog along the M41 to shame…

5th January 2025 at 11:05 am #217132Being an ex-pat living on the continent I do laugh at how the uk grinds to a halt because of a little snow. Here in Germany an army of snowmobiles would have cleared everything including footpaths long before most people were awake.
We will find out very soon. But as the trains are back running I’m guessing it’s on.

5th January 2025 at 11:07 am #217133If you believe what is said then the Liverpool section of the crowd will be influenced by the flights from Norway and Dublin going ahead or not.

5th January 2025 at 12:32 pm #217140Ah come on ed, anything can happen as last year showed
We have never been stronger favourites but im never over confident in games like utd or everton. Hate these fixtures
Also i believe in the football gods π
Alk utd fans wanted game off and lfc wanted it on!Utd to get a result?

5th January 2025 at 12:48 pm #217141Youβre never confident in any game full stop Sean π. Obviously anything can happen, theoretically, but it will be only ending one way today and thatβs with a win for Liverpool. Right now Iβd take a narrow defeat with an improved performance to give us something to build on.

5th January 2025 at 12:48 pm #217142Typical in one of the Newspapers reporting as Postponed π€
Game will go ahead and in essence, better to avoid a fixture pile up β½οΈπ

5th January 2025 at 12:53 pm #217143Sean, it’s a massive strap line mate of a sad state of affairs being runned down by blue and red government. Both to blame.
I remember even as far back as the early 90s, a game would try and go ahead inspite of snow.
Difference in modern society is the increase in population and vehicles and we haven’t kept up with infrastructure and increase in our facilities or even better facilities.
Places like Sweden and Norway are ahead of us. They cope better than us with the snow and dont necessarily allow the country to be grinded to a halt! π€ͺ

5th January 2025 at 1:58 pm #217145To be fair, places like Sweden, Norway, Finland deal with it better because of the very simple fact snowfalls measured in meters are pretty much guaranteed to happen year on year… i.e. the money spent stockpiling equipment will be used on a regular basis. The UK aren’t going to spend that sort of money just in case they might need it once a decade…..
Anyway, something in my water is telling me this could end up a draw…

5th January 2025 at 2:18 pm #217146Spot on Chucky re the Nordics and dealing with the snowfall. People laugh here when I tell them my school used to close in England when it snowed π

5th January 2025 at 3:26 pm #217147From memory the last time we had snow like this was 2 years ago. At least it could have snowed tomorrow so there was a chance work telling people to not come in or “work from home”.
Bugger.
Anyway I am changing my prediction now. It will be 5 nil to Liverpool.
