Normally by now, half way through the season, everybody has a pretty good idea on how their team is performing, what might be needed during the transfer window, and who’s looking over their shoulders with a mild case of squeeky bum…
Big game of the week, historically anyway, isn’t until Sunday… with arguably the next biggest game of the weekend the Saturday lunch time kick-off… which I’ll probably miss because I’m just too scared. Us Spuds might win it, we seem to turn up against the “Big-boys”, but the Bone-Saw-Boyz tend to have the habit of shutting up shop and playing on the counter when away from home… so I’m predicting an early goal for them, and seventy plus minutes of “dark-arts”, with them finally putting the game to bed in the last 5 minutes when we’re playing 6 teenagers and have no other options… 0-2 being the final score (or maybe 1-2 with Spuds scoring in the 104th minute or something!).
Not much else to get the juices flowing in my house…

2nd January 2025 at 10:02 am #217077Going to play devil’s advacote here and try and predict a Spud line-up…
Gk: Forster
RB: Porro, CBBC’s: Dragon and Grey, LB: Spence
Mid: Sarr, Bussomia, Madders…
Att: Johnson, Solenko, KuluGoing to save Sonny for a super-sub role this week, hopefully he’ll be pissed off and come on to score a hat-trick like he did once against the Foxy Ladies…
And, unlike Angie, tell them to sit a little deeper than usual, try and draw out the Bone-Saw-Boys from their 5-4-1 formation I’m betting they start with.

2nd January 2025 at 10:08 am #217078Newcastke will batter spurs babjo mate. Goalkeeper and two centre halves ate huge players ti be nissing. Also ben davies has always done well and nissing. Gray is not a cb.
Everyone expects us to hammer utd and we really should with how both teams are playing but form goes out the window as shown last season when we Couldnt beat a terrible utd team 3 times. Always nervous no matter the form of both teams.
Good win for arsenal last night and brighton are in poor form so expect an arsenal win there
Think west ham manager be next to be sacked

2nd January 2025 at 10:16 am #217080Maybe, Waspy, maybe… (they’ve certainly battered us a few times over the last few years)… but they always seem to sit back when they visit us at the Lane, and we’re still not too shabby going forwards (only your lot have scored more than us this year!)… I think Howe will sit them up for the point and try to sneak all three from a set-piece as our defense is pretty bad at defending those… having a go at us is probably the one thing we would like as it would leave a bit more space at the back…
Will say one thing though, I do agree Grey isn’t a CB, but he hasn’t done too badly I think (didn’t watch the Pool game though)… can’t recall any “mistakes” by him, for an 18 year playing out of position, I think he’s done pretty well over the last 6/7 games… our “problems” certainly don’t start with him.

2nd January 2025 at 12:01 pm #217083Lol, people will be expecting like a 6-0 this Sunday the way everything has been shaped. That really isn’t going to happen because this remember is football and the Premier League.

3rd January 2025 at 9:27 am #217094Happy New Year to you too Sean.
I am fairly relaxed at the moment. This should have been done over a year ago but it is what it is. I think VvD and Salah will sign a two year extention and all the current noise points towards that. I also think TAA will sign. There is a lot of negative comments going about him especially from so-called Liverpool fans so I wouldn’t actually blame him if he left. From what I can gather the only outstanding demand he has made is to be captain after VvD. If he goes we will no doubt miss him (despite how the haters put down his game without understanding what he actually brings) but we will adapt and still be a great team.
Have to remember loyalty works two ways, and if these players leave they will have fulfilled their contracts and shown the same level of loyalty the club has shown them. I do not understand all this traitor talk banded about especially towards TAA.

3rd January 2025 at 9:30 am #217096Was looking at the table, looks like our game against the Bone-Saw-Boyz is a bit of a “must win” job, with us already 8 points behind 5th (very probably last CL spot), who just happen to be the Bone-Saw-Boyz, loss this and we’ll be 11 points behind the last CL spot, not even I’m that optimistic… win and depending on other results, we could only be 5 points behind the last CL spot… a much more surmountable challenge!

3rd January 2025 at 10:35 am #217097Its just with trent hes a local boy threeps. I get the lure of rm but we are flying and he is a scouser.
I understand the mad numbers etc but the unlogical fans will turn on him. He will get labeled like owen abd mcmanmann even if some think that is unfair
People will see him as greedy. They just will. The club gets no money from him ( clubs fault)
I said it to a mate. We see the figures, we know about psr but the average day numpty just looks at the club not paying what players need and players being greedy
I have to say when i heard rm news other day , i agreed with carra but i dont need to judge him without knowing full story. Poor from meNo one wins if trent goes. His reputation will be tarnished, club gets no money and y becomes just another player. He is loved by the fans and locals. We might not agree with the above but thats how it will end
I think he is gone. Inevitable when the noise from madrid starts. Itβs his choice and when real come calling then they win.

3rd January 2025 at 11:44 am #217098If Trent wants to go, let him go. Personally, I wont begrudge his choice. He’s given his whole youth and I think he broke into the first team 2017.
I miss Mane so much. One of the best Pool Players in recent times. If we can sign a Top Class RB, then Fabulous.
I think Trent may well be the cue to Slot looking to reinforce on certain areas of the pitch. β½οΈ

3rd January 2025 at 12:00 pm #217100Trent needs to be careful though. Grass isnt always greener and spainish media are 100 times worse than the English. We have seen it with couthino, can, winji, mane etc
Hes adored at lfc. Hes local, he can win big trophies and be lauded an absolute liverpool legend. Whether we like it or bot, he ruins his legacy by leaving.

3rd January 2025 at 12:51 pm #217103Fully agree Sean, I just don’t understand all the claims his is disloyal. Fulfilling your contract to me is being completely loyal. If fans want to vent their frustration it should be at the club.
Players that fake injuries or go on strike to force a move are the ones fans should have a go at. Especially if they are desperate to move but refuse to hand in a request as that will invalidate their loyalty bonus.

3rd January 2025 at 4:29 pm #217106Bit like a Steve McManaman scenario. Going for Free. It is what it is. Weirdly I was thinking back to when we had Steve Finnan and Emiliano InsΓΊa under Rafa. I liked them both and wanted them to work out, but didn’t quite happen.
If Slot can replace Trent with a Real Top Class signing and a new Centre Half, I’d be over the moon.
