Exactly Ed, and I want to say in all honesty how much I sympathise with you as a fan. It hasnβt been talked about, but as well as possibly ruining his own career he denied you the player he could have been for you, and there is nothing wrong with being gutted about that from a selfish pov either. I would be bud.
Itβs a damn shame, but nothing more utd or utd fans could have done to reach a better outcome
That’s exactly how I feel Lucky. I genuinely think he was one of the best young English forwards around and would have made that right sided forward spot his own for years to come. As you say, from a selfish pov, it almost feels wrong to say it but I am gutted, yes. On the other hand, having a daughter myself means I could have never enjoyed his presence in a Utd shirt ever again. I’m gutted it ever happened rather than being gutted of the outcome, to clarify.

22nd August 2023 at 10:58 am #208678Nepolean, just to clarify, I wouldn’t have been surprised if YooUtd (or any club) would have done their best to sweep it under the carpet, but in this particular case, Joe Public weren’t having it.
The question would be simple. Would YooUtd taken the actions they have IF Joe Public kept quiet?

22nd August 2023 at 11:09 am #208679A resounding no to that last question. 100% they’d have reintegrated him. There is no scenario in which Utd fans would have kept quiet about this. I see Gerrard already wants him in Saudi π

22nd August 2023 at 7:36 pm #208687There has been a lot of time passed from the original break out of the social media footage to the decision made by the club yesterday. Clearly, they taken into consideration the feelings of the fans.
In the midst, you come across the footage and audio supposedly being manipulated or ‘doctored’. And the charges were dropped. I just don’t buy into it whether an overreaction or not. It’s a scar. Over time, time will tell whether a changed man, and more grown up, and responsible.
How on earth too was this being compared to Eric Cantona’s Kung Fu Kick?!

23rd August 2023 at 5:27 am #208689Of course it could be the powers above him make the choice to sign Greenwood and that wouldn’t come as a surprise.
Mendy, Greenwood, Ronaldo, Partey, all scumbags but rich scumbags and that gives them literally a get out of jail card to treat people however they like. Even some TV and film celebrities, ex presidents etc. Money is a form of power and those with power usually prevail.
Speaking of which I find it somewhat ironic that Greenwood is being rightfully chastised by people that clearly see Ronaldo as their hero. He did what they all do, just throw enough money until the problem goes away.

23rd August 2023 at 7:02 am #208691Sean – just looking at the Partey case, it is different in that he has only been arrested so far, I think not currently charged.
So he is βoutβ on bail at the moment.
But there are three separate claims of rape made against him.

23rd August 2023 at 9:13 am #208693These high profile people or celebrities lots of them get away with it though not all, it depends on the people who give evidence against them whether they willing to go ahead, they often bribed to drop the charges or evidence or in many cases especially in politics threatened with death, in fact many whistle blowers have been murdered or have to live in safe houses for the rest of their lives. I personally have no sympathy for people who hurt or kill women, children or animals.

23rd August 2023 at 10:27 am #208694But we should have sympathy for those that are falsely accused. Sadly it seems that allegations alone these days means you are found guilty without trial by public.

23rd August 2023 at 2:10 pm #208696Lucky, where I can example a case of sympathy is what happened to Sir Cliff Richard. False allegations and John Leslie. I cant think of any footballers off the top of my head, and I am one of innocent till proven guilty. Whether true or not, my gut feeling of those high profile footballers find their way out with their wallet quite frankly. I’m inclined to agree with Rover.

23rd August 2023 at 8:26 pm #208701π Haha Lucky. A world back then without Social Media. Maybe that might well be the only difference.
Obviously in tangent but it just reminded me that it’s been 25 years since the (in) famous incident in the bar involving Stan Collymore and a certain former Weathergirl. It was simply Newspapers reporting.

24th August 2023 at 11:38 am #208713Just saw that Sigurdsson might be returning to football in the Danish League having not played for 2 years after his “release” from Everton… that’s a club who might be getting a bit of “interesting” feedback in the very near future…

30th November 2023 at 7:08 am #211045Sean, there is an article on the BBC website about the Partey case. They donβt name him, but if you read that article you can see what he has allegedly got up to.

30th November 2023 at 1:16 pm #211051Be interesting to see if the pressure now builds on the clubs involved to suspend those involved. I suspect that is the aim of teh article.
