Mak, I don’t think anyone can disagree that Liverpool are currently a very special team. World Class gets thrown around too easily imo but I think Liverpool have a few that fit that bill Allison probably , VVD definitely, Robertson maybe, Mane definitely and Salah possibly only because he’s dropped a level this season.
Just sit back and enjoy it all mate it’s been a long time coming and it looks like your uncatchable.

6th December 2019 at 1:27 pm #55662Positn the below here too so you lads can see what i mean and how far we have fallen, love what you have right now while you have it!
According to Opta Sports, Arsenal have faced 52 shots on target in just eight home games this season β and thatβs more than the Invincibles faced at Highbury during their whole title-winning 2003/04 campaign.52 β Arsenal have faced 52 shots on target in eight home league games this season β more than they did at Highbury in the entirety of their last title winning campaign of 2003-04. Vulnerable.

6th December 2019 at 5:36 pm #55707AnonymousGreat post from yourself there HH. The thing is, Steveo is having a go at myself, not Nil. I think this has been a worthy debate. Not everyone has come out agreeing but Steveo, your comment was just bitter and honestly, misguided. You say “not everything is Liverpool,City etc”, well nobody forces you to take part in a thread titled “MANE SALAHA VVD”. That in itself is a pretty strong indicator for what to expect here.
Am i wrong for feeling strongly and backing up my position about the matter, in the correct area? Some of us on here have had a good back and forth and some got a little tired of it. Theya re invited to speak enlsewhere and if they want their clubs mentioned, then bloody mention them. I’m not responsible for a lack of Arsenal discussion. Liverpool fans are not responsible for the fact that no Arsenal player managed to be in for serious contention of the Ballon D’or.
If you’re not interested then instead of this incredibly sarcastic, mocking bullshit towards myself, create something that YOU want to talk about. You’ve back-tracked here then by saying oh it’s a bit of muck and banter but really you just spat your dummie out.
As for your conspiracy talk, don’t even bring that talk up in indirect response to myself, I’ve never spoken or hinted at any such thing. We all know who has but you weren’t responding to him. I’d prefer to not have my name blackened with that tag if you don’t mind.
Now, we can definitely get along but you’ve got to separate how well my team is doing from how you then feel you can address an individual. I’d prefer to keep it civil and to drop the needlessly inflammatory posts.
Now, go create a bloody Arsenal thread, or I’ll bribe Ed to ban you.

6th December 2019 at 5:42 pm #55709Anonymous“i shall continue as i am and hoep you can all take my comments with a pinch of salt like everyone else and have a good laugh”
I’ll take this on board and try to give you a bit more of the benefit of the doubt but this entitlement and some other things have bbeen direct responses to my posts. I think another time it was counting my chickens? Or was that Adlab. I definitely do not feel any sense of entitlement with regards to PL, CL or any cups. I guess when it comes to the Ballon D’or, maybe I do? I feel strongly that the wrong man got it and we can leave it at that and agree to disagree but this is the only time that I think that word could be applied to myself and even then I’d not really appreciate because “entitlement” comes along with a lot of character flaws that I don;’t feel that I have. I have plenty of them but I wouldn’t regard myself as an entitled individual.
anyway I’m perfectly happy to reset and to try to give you the benefit of the doubt and ask maybe that you consider what I have said previously.

6th December 2019 at 9:12 pm #55740Bit of harmony and perspective to draw into this on the subject of Van Dijk.
Although the Champions League was won, in my mind and just the way I was brought up into Football, the Benchmark was always to win the Domestic League Title. As far as Liverpool itself was concerned: League And Cup Double.
Something from Jose here: Zanetti and John Terry.

7th December 2019 at 1:14 am #55742AnonymousI’ve never agree d with that. For me, the CL is more important. I wan the Pl title because we haven’t won it for so long but if we had won them both last season and I could choose between which to win this season, it would be the CL and I wouldn’t need a second to think about it.
I understand the time difference but I think we can take things for granted in the CL. It may actually lead to us going out in the very next game.

7th December 2019 at 7:56 am #55743There’s great glamour and kudos in winning the CL but the PL is much harder to win as it’s over a whole season and 38 matches. It’s the ultimate test for any team.

7th December 2019 at 8:09 am #55744Domestic title for me every time, winning the CL is nice but it really only carries any kudos if you win your own league at the same time, difficult to call yourselves champions of Europe if youβre not champions of your own country…..Pagan

7th December 2019 at 8:25 am #55746I agree that the domestic title is the one, but hey, the Champions League was an okay consolation last season!!
And Pagan, it’s really not difficult calling ourselves champions of Europe when we’re not champions of England. Watch…Liverpool, Champions of Europe. See? Dead easy really.

7th December 2019 at 10:35 am #55749Pagan – if we’re not Champions of Europe, what are we then?
We might even be Champions of the World in a couple of weeks!!
It’s a good job there aren’t any inter-planetary competitions.

7th December 2019 at 11:46 am #55750Itβs true that as great as the CL win for Liverpool was in 2005, it was somewhat farcical at that time to call ourselves the champions of Europe when we finished 4th and then 5th in the league over that period.
However, we finished just 1 point off the champions last season, and are now 8 points clear at the top and have been in championship form since at least the turn of the beginning of the year. So to now call ourselves the champions of Europe has a hell of a lot more credence than it did in 2005.
Do we still need to win the premier league to fully establish ourselves? Of course we do.

7th December 2019 at 12:09 pm #55752At the same time, to win the CL regardless of what position you are in as a club, still takes a very special set of ingredients – the main one being a real togetherness with real leadership. Steven Gerrard over that period pretty much single handedly carried us to that trophy at times just as Van Dijk has been so important in this era.
Hereβs a question for my fellow Liverpool fans. If you had to choose now between either Gerrard or Van Dijk to be in the team, who would it be? Iβd say Gerrard could have more influence on a game, but that Van Dijk (who is now effectively de facto captain) is a better captain, leader and presence on the pitch.

7th December 2019 at 12:38 pm #55753As prestigious as the CL is it’s a Cup competition and luck often plays a part with the draw etc.
I’m not sure why it’s called the Champions League tbh be much better going back to the original name of the European Cup imo.
As much as I love the CL I would always put winning the PL above it.
