That Chelsea team of Jose’s was phenomenal. Only conceding 15 goals in a whole Premier League Season will never be beaten.

10th June 2021 at 11:25 pm #180243Celtic have just announced Postecoglu as their manager. This will be very interesting as his style of play is very much the Pep brand, which takes a considerable amount of time to bed into a team. However, once you get it right it’s beautiful to watch. Postecoglu has been successful pretty much everywhere over the last 10 years but this will be his sternest test. I do hope Celtic give him more than one season to prove himself as it will be well worth it if it pays off.

11th June 2021 at 8:08 am #180248yes, but if you don’t finish top you very quickly get turfed out. To date he’s only really proven himself in Aus and Japan, where he’s won everything on offer, so Scotland will be a step up

17th June 2021 at 7:20 am #180503Everton appointing Rafa is a risk the fans don’t want him because of his Liverpool connections and because he called Everton a small Club when he was Liverpool Manager and despite his managerial ability he was never accepted by a large slice of the Chelsea fan base for similar reasons.
Also according to reports this is being driven by Farhad Moshiri and a number of the Everton Board are against it.
I understand the temptation though.

17th June 2021 at 7:38 am #180504It won’t be pretty watching Everton, that’s for sure. Newcastle were well and truly dreadful to watch under him. I’d be very underwhelmed as an Everton fan.

17th June 2021 at 8:29 am #180511Ye I donβt get it Ed. Bruce gets lots stick abd heβs finished higher then Rafa in both seasons. Newcastle actually started pmeting much better when Bruce when to 3 at the back and two upfront
I think Rafa is to old school abd like jose , his tactics are outdated.
Itβs the perfect appointment for him as lives in Liverpool but it is going to cause issues for both sets of supporters. Everton fans certainly wonβt be happy

17th June 2021 at 10:43 am #180515I think Rafa offers a feeling of safety and experience which can obviously be attractive attributes to a club. Tactically, heβs one of the best. As a man manager, heβs not. And therein lies the problem. For me itβs not so much that managers like Rafa or JosΓ© are outdated tactically. But they are outdated culturally, in terms of players now being more expressive on the pitch, being more powerful and influential in the dressing room, wanting to be loved and playing where they want to be played. Thatβs primarily what both these managers are struggling with which leads to frustrations on both sides.

17th June 2021 at 2:47 pm #180521No appointment yet of Rafa? I wonder if Everton might be testing the water and wanting to see the reaction from the media, social media and match going Everton fans before finalising anything?

17th June 2021 at 5:06 pm #180524It’s getting more than embarrassing for Spurs and the managerial situation at Spurs won’t convince Kane he should stay although I can’t think anyone will agree to pay the stupid money Levy will want for him and Spurs will probably get stuck with a very disenchanted player.
Reading between the lines the latest managerial casualty at Spurs seems to be down to Paratici reacting to Guttoso’s sudden availability and thinking him a stronger candidate than Fonsecca
Levy and Guttoso is hardly a match made in heaven though given how explosive Gattuso can be if he doesn’t get his own way

17th June 2021 at 6:44 pm #180527What a shambles Spurs are making of this but well done Levy on finding probably the only manager in the world more disruptive and explosive than Mourinho and the main target to replace Mourinho (Conte).

18th June 2021 at 9:42 am #180535Not a bad shout
If Everton and Spurs are looking for a proven PL manager with a winning pedigree and βflavour of the monthβ feel, Roberto Mancini should be top of their list. Yes, heβs under contract to Italy, but PL profile and salary would be hard to turn down. Did a great job at Man City..

Looks like somebody in the media or ‘sources’ playing silly beggars attaching Gattuso. No wonder some Spurs fans out there are irate (rightly so). Levy to me just wants a gap filler as ‘KPI’s’ are met on a shoe string budget.
