….I thought Mourinho got it right he targeted both TAA and Lovren even overloaded Mata on that side and successfully marked Salah out of the game obviously Liverpool would have preferred that United went all out for the win because it would have played right into their counter attacking strengths and for that reason it was never going to happen.
I look forward to the CL clashes over 2 legs.?

As for Mourinho, yes he marked Salah out of the game. I will give him credit for that. i still think if he were on form , it wouldnt have mattered but he did and that is not under dispute. As for the others, let’s pretend we’re football managers a second and think about Lukaku and what to do with him. Would you not come to the conclusion that Lukaku should try and exploit the obvious weaker CB? That’s a no-brainer for me and it is exactly why he bought Lukaku. So if we’re talking out tactical mastery, it is just the way that he plays and there’s no special counter to Liverpool there. Nothing that you or I would do.
TAA is a grey area for me. I personally didn’t see anything to exploit in him but I’m not paid millions to manage a club. This is out above my pay grade if a counter has happened. . I am still inclined to think that TAA just had a bad day, like the rest of the team. . but as a defender, you concede goals, not possession. Now, it’s still possible that Mourinho saw something there besides the obvious pace of Rashford. I think he had a good day and was effective.
Then the overall thing Nine, Utd not going all out is not tactical mastery on the day either because it is how they always play. I mean, if Klopp were to beat Jose playing the way he always does, you wouldnt say he countered Utd perfectly. It isn’t a counter if it’s how you always play. I’m not taking away from it’s effectiveness but I will not agree that Mourinho got out the magic wand.
besides Salahs marking, there was nothing special going on at all. If our team held their nerve, I think we could have won but too many players didn’t show up and we were still barely beaten.
We do have some time to catch them but that’s not going to be easy. We’re looking over our shoulders after this result, no doubt about it.
Good discussion goign though I have to say. a lot of meat to chew in this.
