First game of the weekend to resume the new PL campaign.
As far as we go, on the whole, we should now be able to field a strong attacking line up with an array of quality.
I genuinely fancy us to at least come away with a positive result.

6th September 2017 at 3:07 pm #4710Attack wise I’m sure Liverpool will give City a few problems but City have an array of attacking talent available to them and it may be a case of how well Liverpool can do at the other end of the pitch to keep them out.

6th September 2017 at 9:21 pm #4736Snap Big Jim, I honestly put something like this on the Editor’s Predictor Sheet. All healthy and it shows ambition and positivity.
The best bit about this is I’m free from work. That Mobile Telephone will well and truly be switched off hahaha 🙂

7th September 2017 at 8:01 am #4749Hi Jim, hope you are keeping well mate.
This should be a cracker. I can’t see many teams going to the ethiad and playing city at their own game but I’m sure we will. Both teams play a high line which is a risky strategy and there will be loads of chances.
City have some team on paper but I believe our starting 11 can beat anyone. I fancy city or Utd for the league but Chelsea can’t be ruled out either.
You must be excited by some of cities signings. Bernardo silva is absolute quality. I think we can win but it’s such a tough place to go. Whoever defends best will win. 1-1 for me which I would take all day

7th September 2017 at 11:33 pm #4779Hi Sean, nice to speak to you. Should be a great game. Think our forwards will click and we will come out with 3 pts on this one. We are due a win over you lot. Looking forward to it with the trepidation of a big game. Me and my girls will be going as usual and they want to do some shopping in town after the game so I hope I don’t suffer a double whammy, shopping is bad enough! Cheers Jim

7th September 2017 at 11:35 pm #4780B Silva looks pretty good but Mendy has immense pace and power. We look v good out wide compared to a the last few seasons. Sometimes I think we just need a target man like Dzeko lol. Jim

8th September 2017 at 3:24 pm #4805Kompany out sadly. Two things spring to mind. Kompany needs to put club before country and retire from international duty and look after his body these days. Secondly how stupid does Guardiola look now with no centre half cover when every City fan knew this was likely to happen with Vinnies injury rwcord the past three seasons and we have no cover. But hey ho we have plenty of creative midfielders. If only the club put half the effort into getting cover in this position as they did chasing Sanchez. Sigh

9th September 2017 at 3:07 pm #4849A couple of weeks ago we had seen the best of Liverpool and today we seen the worst. I don’t think the score was flattering because we could have lost by even more and congrats and full marks to Man City.
I have no qualms with the sending off because in a 50-50 challenge, if this results to a player being fouled and seriously hurt, then the Referee has to make a big call and Mane unfortunately had to be off the pitch.
Team selection and Moreno to one side, the midfield of Henderson (him especially), Wijn and Can were a total let down. There was no organisation, link or discipline between not to mention leadership.
We gifted City goals. If we’re adopting the mindset of pushing the full-backs forward, then the heart of the midfield have to encourage movement by being proactive themselves. Instead, players were stood static, too deep and trying to play a lazy ball over the top. Why? It was not met and instead, easily cut-out. I really feel somewhere down the line a big call has to be made to either drop Henderson or to permanently move him on, as with Can. Wijn too as he is not consistent but consistently quiet.
I have to shoulder the blame more towards the midfield than take the east way out and lay everything on the doorstep of Mignolet and the defence.
My reasoning comes from looking at both sets of teams and recognising that we lack that little bit extra of cutting edge in Phillipe Coutinho who was missed.
We played too deep too tactically against a team who likes to play football. Had the midfielders and defenders pushed out more habitually, they would be able to provide more support to the attackers.
A purely disappointing day at the office in summary and naturally, we will need to get back on the sadle and bounce back quickly.
