16th June 2019 at 9:35 pm #42671Anonymous“We just didnβt have the experience from a mental point of view to handle the talk of 7 points raised and sort of amplified by the media.”
This. you see lads, there is actually is a downside to having such insane focus on the club.
Ya Nil, I knew it was mostly likely over for us when we dropped the points against everton. I mean, we shook ourselves off but just too late. I think we had 5 draws within about 8-9 games? I mean you could say “you cant be doing that!!” but the fact is, in any normal se3ason, we’d have been so far clear at that stage that it wouldnt have mattered. It was a freak season. I hope thats the end of the insanely high PL points tallies. Obviously I hope we get as many as possible and win it but the run in was just beyond silly. win after win after win from both sides…

17th June 2019 at 2:02 pm #42681Mak, totally get where you’re coming from on the focus. The talk extracted and repeated often led to us overthinking and analysing every other ‘pit-stop’ which is all part of the journey.
We will grow to be mentally resilient, I am confident of that.
Cheers

17th June 2019 at 2:36 pm #42683I don’t think it was a lack of resilience that cost Liverpool the title it was who they were up against 9 wins and 1 draw was a hell of a final 10 PL games and showed resilience.
I think Klopp wrongly thought leaving OT with a point would be good enough even against a weakened United normally it would have been had it not been Man City Liverpool were competing with.

20th June 2019 at 10:27 am #42718Chucks! Sorry mate, only just seen this now – last couple of days, busy – tired and need a lie down before the late shift.
Mate, I remember when Klopp played Lucas in defence. He was new to the Liverpool job and we had a threadbare squad. The Boy elsewhere is doing good lol, so it seems hahaha π

20th June 2019 at 8:42 pm #42726AnonymousI’ve changed my mind and now think Liverpool will win the title next season. We’ve learned so much as a team over the past 2 seasons in particular. Our title challenge came with so many different tests that an older Liverpool would have stumbled over, or failed completely but we generally got the results last time out.
The development in terms of mentality is where it will be won, I think. Winning the CL puts the sheen back on a long and hard campaign and it will only galvanise the group, with this summer’s development being less on structural additions (core player arrivals) and more on polish (training ground work).
Other sides will improve, I think. I can see the title being won with 80 something points.
