Nil, I hope yer well man. I will say one tiny piece of advice that I need to give myself sometimes. Try to give people the benefit of the doubt, when they post something that might be a joke, or might be a nasty comment. Sometimes it’s hard to know, since text has no inflections. It’s not easy, cause sometimes you just react, I know, I’ve been there before and will be there again.
As for Alisson man, yep. His impact on us winning the CL was absolutely massive. Did you see the 6 minutes uncut of Klopp celebrating after the final? have a look if not.
I’m really pleased to see that we have a manager like him who doesn’t celebrate in the face of the opposition manager. He was (IRRC) solemn faced when shaking Poch’s hand.. and I think Poch would have done the same as he is also a classy individual.

16th June 2019 at 10:47 am #42629I think we should all let this one go now I get where Nil was coming from albeit all threads go up on the Community page which everyone should be aware of by now and anyone who has ever read Pagans posts will know he’s a really good lad who just put up a tongue in cheek post.
The world isn’t against Liverpool Football Club and they are no more special to their fans than Luton Town are to their fans and anyone trying to claim different can be a little frustrating at times.
Personally I’ve got great admiration for Liverpool Football Club going way back and I really enjoy watching their games any negativity that might exist towards Liverpool is more down to a minority of their fans on social media and on the phone ins as Stevo highlighted last week.
This is a small community of different faiths and everyone needs to try and retain a degree of perspective as well as thinking about whet they post before they post it.
But it’s a great little site that hopefully will grow as it deserves too hopefully with a broad make up of posters.
Maybe with even some of them from Luton Town.?

16th June 2019 at 11:03 am #42631Mak, generally well mate, thanks. Hope you’re good too. Resting today after another 6 day week, but in saying that, laundry, ironing and kitchen cleaning beckons lol – there’s no running away from it 🙂
Allison has just become a Dad! Really made up for him. He has a great bond with Klopp and Klopp took a chance in buying him, but boy is he the Best Keeper we’ve had now for a long long time. He is Pukka between the sticks.
I was thinking back looking at Lovren in those celebrations and 2016 when we beat Dortmund in the semis of the Europa and that come-back. I remember dropping my brother off for his then night-shift to work on that Thursday and remember screaming when Lovren headed in (I think it was the winner).
We didn’t close off the final and I think these emotions reflect upon all those missed opportunities only for us to finally nail down a trophy, and the biggest in the European Cup.
I truly hope this is the Springboard for us to finally nail the League next season and I hope in the coming months, we win both the Community Shield and The Super Cup.
Cheers

16th June 2019 at 11:03 am #42632A little bit of edge and banter is all good with me. Pagan is ok, nowt wrong with what he posted.
I like to give it out, and don’t mind a bit back – but as Liverpool are the greatest club in history I know other teams fans have to try a bit harder ?
So this season. Looking forward to giving city and Chelsea the usual ‘little Club’ abuse, watching united flounder, and spurs being spurs.
Enjoy your summer nil and recharge your batteries – we go again!!

16th June 2019 at 11:05 am #42633Nine, precisely that was the intent. Plus, it was more in trying to be thoughtful and aware of those that may not want to read about our stuff, so it was natural for me to funnel straight into the Liverpool section, though rightfully, everyone should be welcomed and encourage the forum to be flowing.
Cheers

16th June 2019 at 11:16 am #42635Mr. Balance, there’s no need to apologise, when all said and done we all know how passionate you are about Liverpool, however I’d did give us a chance to write a few limericks which was fun on a rainy day.
If you want to talk teams with the most history, then Notts County would probably be a good starting point.
Take care, off to cricket in a bit….Pagan

16th June 2019 at 12:06 pm #42641Nine your right about what you say. They are facts but come on. 7 point lead is nothing with just less then half the season left and I said that at the time. City were ahead by a good few points earlier in the season as well
Liveroool did not lose the league. City won it. 17 wins out of 18 is astonishing
We dropped 17 points! We lost one game. We dropped points like all clubs do. Never had there been a run in like this. I was much more disappointed in 2014 as we threw that away. City were the better team. They deserved to win but we gave it everything and I really don’t think we coulddo anymore mate

16th June 2019 at 12:55 pm #42643AnonymousYa Nine, I wasn’t bringing anything back up. I just hadn’t seen this thread til then. With it being summer… and an especially quiet one as we dont really NEED many players, I just haven’t been logging in every day. Good to see that activity is still good though. I think that proves how good a bunch we’ve got here.

16th June 2019 at 1:10 pm #42644AnonymousNine, as for your words regarding drawing a line under last season, I completely agree. I think however that I come at it from a slightly different angle because what makes me feel totally ok with us not getting the PL title, is the CL win. I dunno, it just wouldn’t feel right for me to be unhappy about anything that has built up and ended with us being Champions of Europe. It would have been the exact same had we won the PL and lost the CL final. One massive trophy is enough. Klopp’s work has come to fruition, his “you lose cup finals” tag is decimated.
I’ll rewatch the Barca highlights here and there for the rest of my life.
Nil, I’m good alright thanks. Ya, Alisson’s question marks are pretty much gone. I mean in terms of people hopefully accepting that he’ll have a mistake here and there but he’s got so much ability and is mentally strong. I think he more than makes up for the odd howler.. every keeper has them. Maybe we need to adjust out attitude towards keepers in general?
You’re right BTW, Lovrens header was indeed the winner. I used to have that match on my PC but I may have gotten rid of it one time for space. I hope not because it was always a good watch, here and there (see above! :P)
I too hope it’s a springboard for further success. The CL final loss last season probably gave them the edge over Spurs when it comes to the occasion. This season’s 97 points will hopefully help along with solidity and validation that a massive trophy can give.
Klopp has said that he sees training as the best way of moving forward, instead of buying players. He doesn’t want any/many this summer and only wants to continue moulding this team. Obviously if Lovren does go, he will have to be replaced but these and maybe 1 normal addition could be our only business this summer.
I’m confident that we’ll be even better next season. I think the others will too though.

16th June 2019 at 1:53 pm #42645We just didn’t have the experience from a mental point of view to handle the talk of 7 points raised and sort of amplified by the media.
In fairness though, this comes with the territory. I think off the top of my head if I remember rightly, something like this happened to Blackburn in 93/94, the year United won the Double. The following season after though in 95, they won it, dramatically.
The Leicester or the West Ham draw changed the 7 points. I think though, the turning point after was losing points to both United and Everton. Players like Bernard and Richarlison would always raise their game against us.

16th June 2019 at 2:14 pm #42646Sean, that wasn’t meant as a criticism mate.
I think Liverpool will have learned from last seasons battle with City and if they get into the same position again they won’t let them slip off the hook again.
City are a great team and you just can’t afford to give them an inch.
I think the game at OT was the crucial game I said at the time that 0-0 draw against a very weakened United might cost Liverpool the title and that City would have won that game and so it unfortunately for you guys proved.
As I said in my post Liverpool won’t go that close again without winning it. Let’s see what tomorrow brings. Cheers 999

16th June 2019 at 2:23 pm #42647Mak, I wasn’t suggesting anyone should draw a line under last season mate I was just suggesting we should draw a line under some of what followed Nils original post on here.
You’re right though the Champions League isn’t bad compensation is it.?

16th June 2019 at 2:28 pm #42649Very fine margins when it all comes down to it and the metal and endurance to see it through to the final game. City could argue the point of Mahrez’s missed Pen.
United went into half-time at 0-0 against City at OT, but it all fell apart. If Iheanacho was in form, that chance for Leicester would have been buried and it would have been 1-1.
Equally, for us, there was Pickford, Lloris, Speroni, and even the Saints keeper gave us a helping hand.
Realistically, I can’t see Liverpool repeat 97 points, but could more than capable of hitting 80s, though that wouldn’t be enough the way City have known to be in recent history.
