Too right Chucky.
We’ve been absolutely clueless. Wtf is Gundogan doing on the right.
Defensively all at sea. Ferna lost in the middle of the park with KDB too deep. Surely it would have been better to put him on the right and Gundogan alongside Ferna.
It actually looks like the incident with the coach outside the stadium has affected us – scumbags._____________________________

All they had to do in the second half was park the bus. They did it.
What can one say. The better team on the night won. Couple of marginal offsides went against us but so be it. No excuses.
Best of luck in the semi.
Two bad games this season both at Anfield.
Dreadful referee. Yellow cards for nothing. Stupid kraut,_____________________________

4th April 2018 at 9:52 pm #19218The linesman on this side did us no favours whatsoever, should have given offside for their first and then gives Sane offside when he was level for what could have been a crucial away goal.
Having said that, overall, Liverpool definitely deserved their win but can’t help thinking our players were shaken by events outside the stadium before the match – they certainly played like it first half._____________________________

4th April 2018 at 10:10 pm #19222Yes it’s over Adlab. Probably about a 10% chance of us going through. Pep ballsed up tonight. Team a shambles first half. Real shame going into the weekend. Gundog offers nothing to the team for me. Never really has. Just too slow to close players down.

5th April 2018 at 7:54 am #19245City really missed Aguero last night. Jesus is a good player but he’s a fox in the box. Aguero is the complete centre forward. A powerful goal scorer and great a holding the ball up.

5th April 2018 at 8:16 am #19246It’s not completely over but Liverpool have got more than one foot in the Semi Finals and it would take something extraordinary from City to turn this around now.
An early City goal next week at the Etihad from City might make things interesting but it’s difficult to not see Liverpool scoring which would mean City would need to score 5 which they might have done in the PL but that was under very different circumstances.
Guardiola was found wanting again last night in the latter stages of the CL both tactically and team selection wise it’s admirable to go toe to toe with Liverpool at Anfield but in a two leg tie they weren’t the right tactics and it’s probably cost City the tie.
City need Aguero fit for Tuesday to have any real chance imo.

5th April 2018 at 8:58 am #19251Just have to pick ourselves up now and Pep MUST play our strongest side against United as that is the most important game now. No point resting players for Tuesday, that game is gone. Then after Tuesday our season is over and he should experiment and play some youngsters from the start. Foden, Diaz, Tosin, Zinchenko and Nmecha.

5th April 2018 at 9:36 am #19252We didn’t have any luck but maybe it wasn’t deserved and it beggars belief that City weren’t prepared that bit better last night. However, perhaps Pep might think that Utd isn’t the most important game as there will be other chances to win the league. He could just want the final roll of the dice against Liverpool but it’s difficult to see how any current City side can conjure up a net 4 goal win. Having said that, City is arguably the only side in the EPL that could possibly do just that.

5th April 2018 at 9:58 am #19253Well, I have only just got my voice back from last night! Firstly, can I say that I utterly condemn the minority of knobheads who attacked the bus on it’s arrival at Anfield. There is no excuse for that and the perpetrators should be identified and punished accordingly. As I said on a thread last week, I’m all for giving the team a hostile reception, inside and outside of the stadium, but when you get a few dicks doing stuff like that it deflects the attention from what was an excellent performance. So, my apologies to all affected. Mak, you had a go at the crowd in one of your during the match posts for jeering the opposition and not supporting the team. Well, there was both in ample amounts last night. I thought the crowd inside the stadium were nothing short of magnificent, and booing the opposition and trying to put them off their game is part of that. Anyway, that is all I will say on the crowd last night, as the main focus should be on the team…
…who were just sensational! Before the game, in the pub I refused to give a prediction as it was one of thiose games that could have ended 4-0 either way, and it wouldn’t have been a graet surprise. But for me, it was our best performance all round I have seen for a long time. Clinical, powerful, pacy in the first half and gritty, strong and committed in the second half. Trent, Degsy Lov, Robbo and Milner were awesome. It says something when our worst defender on the pitch was big Virgil…and he was superb!
The game is really not over though. We have injuries, maybe no Salah next week and definitely no Hendo, and if anyone can score 3 goals in 90 minutes against us it is City. Sure, we are now strong favourites, but we know better than anyone how a 3-0 half time reverse is not necessarily game over. If we are missing Mo next week, that is a big goal threat absent, so…who knows! To the City lads on here, you can’t play as poorly again next week – I wouldn’t have given up!

5th April 2018 at 9:59 am #19254I don’t think Pep will believe the tie is gone City will attack which is their natural game andn Liverpool will sit back which is not their natural game if Aguero is fit and City score an early goal as tall an order as it is you just never know.
But Liverpool are massive favourites to go through now.

5th April 2018 at 1:01 pm #19277Just watched the slow motion recording . For interest as it is academic now. Liverpool first goal was offside and Sane wasnt. Both VERY marginal both decisions wrong.
Also have a look at the video from inside the City bus. Disgusting. Nothing will happen of course. Liverpool fc should be ashamed as I would be the other way round. Truly awful.

5th April 2018 at 1:05 pm #19278AnonymousIf i were Pepe I wouldn’t just drop this tournament in favour of winning the league at Utd. If anything is certain, it is that City will win the title. Winning it against Utd is a luxury and you just don’t prioritize a luxury over necessity.
Should we talk about the tie as if it were over? Nearly, it should be by all means but football is a strange game and as said above, if there is a team that can win by a 4 goal margin, it’s City. I think if it were any other club I would just say “lads, they’ve no chance.”.
Because you didn’t grab an away goal though, it’s a monumental task, so we really only need to score 1.
As for the fans meeting the coach, I knew this was going to be a problem. When I heard that people were organising over social media, my mind was cast back to the days when hooligans used to organise fights. I’ve seen some of the video from the City bus too, it’s absolutely disgraceful behavior and it’s not just a few people. The amount of bottles being thrown at the windows as it moves along suggests that it’s actually 100+ people who need 2 year bans from Anfield (in my view). I say 2 years because if you hand out lifetime bans, you’re not giving people the chance to learn from their mistakes.
What we’ve seen here though is something that needs to be stamped out really really quickly. I don’t want this behavior associated with LFC and I certainly don’t want it associated with the sport either. The thuggery and hooliganism needs to be dealt with once more and honestly, I’ll be surprised if UEFA don’t step in and force us to play behind closed doors. The only possible thing that might save us is that there is no proof that the people throwing objects were ticket buying fans. I mean the club can only control the people inside the stadium and on the grounds that they actually own but…
What I would do from here on though is to fit the bus with a number of high resolution cameras all the way around, so that scumbags can be identified and be dealt with by police. Besides it shaking up the players, it’s dangerous behavior and could lead to people being seriously injured.
There was one thing that i really didn’t like to hear at all and I’m sure it was just said at the moment without really thinking about it but Kompany’s words about how Liverpool will have to deal with a man city welcoming party of their own on the return leg, were really not smart at all. What happened here is something that the Man City players should not have gone through. An eye for an eye is really not the way to approach this as it’s something that should be nipped in the bud. I’m not criticizing him over it, well not too much as it’s something that he had to experience and that just isn’t cool. He was also probably upset about the actual score-line also.
Anyway, I have to say that you City lads have been more than graceful about all events. You didn’t have much luck when it came to the linesmen, although I think the ref did an ok job. I will honestly say that were things the opposite way, I don’t think I would accept it quite as well. Now, I guess it helps that you have an imminent title coming? Our season is 95% over if/once we go out of the CL.
