Chuckles, I know your stance on the diving/exaggeration epidemic, and you are consistent with you views whether itβs your Spuds or others, the debate is not do players from all teams do it, but how do we stamp it out….Pagan

5th February 2018 at 7:38 pm #14840Pretty good assessment of both pen decisions by Carragher on MNF just now. Made some good points.

5th February 2018 at 8:03 pm #14842Peggy… I’m open to suggestions mate, it’s a 64 milion dollar question!! For starters, the obvious is allow the review board to review all games, and ANYTHING deemed to be dealt with incorrectly, deal with it in the way of bans, with bans increasing to points deduction for the club if the club has repeat offenders.
Also have a review board that has a pair would be a good idea.
Not much help during the match, granted, but done properly could eventually have teams behaving themselves a bit better.
As for during the match, just keep tinkering with the current VAR, it doesn’t seem to be too bad (not brilliant!) for starting point… although needs to be done about the players appealing everything like they were doing in the first half of the Pool/WBA Cup game.

5th February 2018 at 8:12 pm #14845Looks like we are all agreed, spurs players are pussies and neither penalty was correct. Wanyama must have been offside too and Davis should have been sent off in the first half.
Glad thatβs all cleared up
Oh and Banjo is a tit who isnβt fit to be a social worker.

5th February 2018 at 8:22 pm #14850Social worker. JC said that he thought Lovren should have cleared the ball before it got to Kane, the fact that he touched it meant that Kane was onside. For the second he said Dick tried to pull out of the clearance when he realised Lamela was in front of the ball but he wasn’t able to and ended up kicking Lamela. After Lamela went down every lpool player in and arround the box looked immediately at the ref as they knew and were worried he might blow for a pen after they saw Dick kick him apart from Dick himself as he was trying to look innocent and avoid the refs eye contact.

5th February 2018 at 8:28 pm #14851Cheers Big J… Banjo sent me a text and asked if you could forward that on to Benji? Coming from “one of his own”, he might believe it… π

5th February 2018 at 8:46 pm #14859AnonymousIt gets very subjective when Lovren played the ball, as if he only played it to stop it going through to Kane, then Kane was offside as he is interfering with a player whilst offside.

5th February 2018 at 9:51 pm #14887AnonymousYa VAR is young, let’s not act like a bunch of social w***ers about something that is in development. I’m all for it myself and think it can improve the decision making without slowing the game up too much with some tweaks.

5th February 2018 at 10:02 pm #14890AnonymousIt wasnβt in play for the spurs match.
The main problem with it is that, unlike Rugby, decisions are so subjective. In Rugby itβs; was the foot on the line, was the player in front of the ball, did he ground the ball or whatever, but in football itβs so much more subjective as one week something is a foul and the next itβs not. What consitutes handball one week does not the next.
If they kept it to offsides it would be great, but when they try and decide what a foul is or what handball is they canβt be consistent.

7th February 2018 at 2:38 am #14962AnonymousI know it wasn’t in use the last day, someone had mentioned it in some time ago but ya, I don’t think anyone is expecting VAR to just clear everything up.
Are there plans to bring VAR into use in the PL for next season?

7th February 2018 at 7:10 am #14963AnonymousNot sure tbh, I would have guessed that was the plan. Itβs already in use in other leagues across Europe, so there is nothing to stop us from having it if we want it.
It seems itβs being used more than the authorities thought it would be, as when it was released they said it would likely be used once every two or three games. It seems to be twice or more every game.

7th February 2018 at 4:15 pm #14986AnonymousI have no problem with it being used 3 times a game. They only need to trim the time down a bit and they will. If you look at how it was used in Liverpools FA Cup match V WBA, it corrected some big calls that could have given us excuses for a loss π

7th February 2018 at 7:09 pm #14989AnonymousThatβs the plus side of it – it stops managers from moaning.
Pochettino has the right of it, managers need to stop being hypocrites and accept the decisions of refs. They all moan about incidents that go against them, whilst if the exact same incident went their way it would be the right call.

7th February 2018 at 8:21 pm #14993I know , on this very subjective matter, that Refs have a problem in the modern game. The clamour for Video I do not think has been thought through. I also see the players themselves have developed this culture of shirt pulling, diving etc to a fine art and this is where the problem is. It is not possible now to reverse this util the standard of refereeng plus theire assistants get better. The only other way is severe bans and fines and I mean severe. I would not want football to be sanitised but if we do not get a grip now it will go worse and then not be worth watching

7th February 2018 at 8:22 pm #14995PS to the last…I also do not like Managers who try and justify it, there can be no justification for cheating, none whatsoever

7th February 2018 at 9:59 pm #14998Fair result I say even if how it was achieved is somewhat dubious, my missus is a Spuds fan so to say it’s been interesting for the last couple of days would be understating it, however I’m confused, because of said wife’s affinity I’ve just been watching Spuds v Newport replay with her and I clearly saw Lamela do an overhead kick in Newport’s penalty are where he caught one of the Newport defenders shoulder with his foot now how the hell was that not a penalty for Spurs?
