11th January 2018 at 8:30 pm #12101Wow interesting NB, truly believe we can beat City convincingly and comprehensively
Think the games where Pep has rested various players has got into some peopleโs heads. We were open on the left in the last gsme with Mendy bombing forward so those gaps should be less frequent. Canโt remember last game we played truly with our first 11 but Sunday they will all be on the pitch so will be interesting.
My guess is 1-2 City, think we will play very well and shock pool by controlling the game and frustrating them. Hopefully Milner sent off as well, sorry canโt stand the little shit.

11th January 2018 at 8:55 pm #12107I see games obviously from a supporter’s point of view and from a Managerial point of view:
I.e. asking the players what they want to achieve from this fixture. City have been a fantastic team, but as far as we go, here is an opportunity to make a statement.
I think Jurgen Klopp’s gradually building a team around him with his own signings in Mane, Wynaldum, Matip, Robertson, Salah, Oxlaid and most recently, Van Dijk.
This added to what he inherited in Lallana, Sturridge, Henderson, Milner, Can, and Clyne as far as genuine quality goes, so of course, there is work to be done to bring in more new faces, but even with Coutinho’s departure, we can field a team capable of beating any team at Anfield.
The secret is to show the respect, but not to place this team on the top step. Believe in your own ability and what you are capable of.

I beg to differ with you mate. i can’t see Liverpool losing this one. Both teams like to attack, which means neither of them will want to compromise their style. so they are the kind of games that you won’t know when the 90 minute is reached. if you look at the history of this fixture, Liverpool should be confident. but City this season is so good and had been getting wins quite often. so this one is tricky. if you go for form City should be confident. but never write off Liverpool and their attacking fire power. so on form City should be confident and but if you look at recent history Liverpool should be confident. i will be excited to watch it regardless of who wins.

11th January 2018 at 9:59 pm #12114Maybe I’m just a different animal, but honestly, who would ‘take a draw’ on their own patch? That’s just lame and defeatist in my eyes. Even when we were going to the dogs under Souness, I wanted us to give it our all against Man United – still remember January 1994 as being a thrilling night coming back from 3 goals down even though the match ended all square.
There has to always be a sense of pride and abundantly, passion.

11th January 2018 at 11:34 pm #12118I don’t buy in to the idea that Liverpool will approach this game as the underdogs. no i reject that, Liverpool are at home and they have enough fire power to hurt City, and just bought Van Dijk who could be a weapon on both boxes, plus the usual suspects of M-F-S upfront City will have their work cut out. but don’t under estimate these City team, its very hard to find weaknesses in them. but as i said the onus is on Liverpool to break City and win. they are the home team. and City is granted they won’t sit back and soak up pressure. they will want to dominate. expect interesting and enjoyable game. i hope the referee restrains himself from ruining the game like he did earlier at Etihad. if he tries to keep 11 vs 11 on pitch, you can’t predict who will win.

12th January 2018 at 12:10 am #12125CM. FFS Mane ruined the game for liverpool not the ref. Please remind me when a flying high boot in the face of an oposing player (mane had both feet off the ground) has ever been anything other than a straight red? Please dont believe the Anfield led media crap ala Danny the dirty little shit Murphy that it was an accident so doesn’t count as dangerous play. Mane clearly knew Ederson was there hence the high boot trying to chip him, but he didn’t win the ball Ederson got there first. It was the most obvious red card you will ever see. End of!

12th January 2018 at 7:06 am #12131Love this thread!
I can understand how fans of the teams involved can come up with their opinions, they obviously watch those teams far more than us neutrals, but I really don’t understand how any neutrals can go for anything other than a City win. They’ve lost Wee Phil and that creative spark up top, and even Virgal is a rock at the heart of defense (which he isn’t but that’s for a different thread!), City have the players and the nous to just go around him.
Of the firm belief a City win will occur, just a question of how much!
And Mane’s red card was such a red card it should be entered in the MIB manual as what a red card looks like. How anybody can doubt that is beyond me. Dangerous play all day long and twice on Sundays.

12th January 2018 at 7:28 am #12133I’ve really no idea what I want to happen in this one. We’re not going to catch City obviously but, for obvious reasons, I’d like to see City not go the whole season unbeaten as we’ll never hear the end of it!
Realistically, though, Liverpool are our only threat to achieving our bare minimum goal of getting CL football again so a Liverpool win is not ideal either!
To summarise, let’s just hope for a good game!

12th January 2018 at 7:52 am #12134Jim, Mane didn’t ruin the game, he was entitled to goal for the ball. Unfortunately in the process, the Keeper was involved and it resulted to dangerous play and rightly on that occasion, a sending off.
That changed in entire dynamics of the game. I wouldn’t bet against that Keeper being rattled by us. That Kop is going to be roaring come Sunday 4pm – just like the old days.

12th January 2018 at 8:14 am #12135Nil, given that Mane was red carded, that Ederson could have been seriously injured and you agree that Mane should have been sent off Mane clearly wasn’t “entitled to go for the ball”.
But that’s in the past and it’s pointless us all debating it now especially when there’s such a mouth watering game to look forward to.

12th January 2018 at 8:19 am #12136Yep nil, I am sure the kop will be having ago at Ederson, booing him as he was being carried off the pitch on a stretcher at the Etihad was a real classy act by some of your fans.

12th January 2018 at 9:40 pm #12215Truly and sincerely, what has happened here?
Ed?
This from what I believed to be, an individual Liverpool Supporters Fanzine.
Can anybody in living proof comprehend with that?
We used to have a bunch of mates together during the big games to talk it through during park football or at school or during the walks of those School runs.
What’s happened here that a grown man like me is constantly made to feel supressed, and ‘moderated’ that we only ever have had one Moderator in the first place. There are ‘personalized’ message boards set up and those feel free.
Look at me in Mankind: I’ve never bothered a single soul there and that record speaks for itself. Tottenham, Manchester City, Chelsea: all on an individual Liverpool Football Club Message Board.
And you wonder is new blood could be enticed here. Shameful and sick to the back teeth. I Can’t by famine have privacy on here. That’s my trouble. This is about Liverpool and Liverpool only.

12th January 2018 at 10:27 pm #12217I’m sorry to have to do this again but I’ve put Nil on another break from posting. As well as the nonsense above, I’ve just received a ridiculous email on a Friday night saying much the same thing.
I’d be keen to hear whether people think he should be let back on but I’m just growing tired of these late night outbursts.

12th January 2018 at 11:01 pm #12219Same thing happened on teamtalk Ed, he comes out with some really bizarre stuff. Many have tried to be civil to him but he just gets worse & worse. He truly loves LFC & I donโt think heโs a bad person heโs just a bit over the top for some. Iโm happy to just skip past his posts so it doesnโt really bother me if he keeps posting. I donโt have to moderate his rants, which would no doubt be a time consuming pain in the proverbial so you just have to do what you have to mate.

12th January 2018 at 11:33 pm #12220Ed, To be honest I just use the latest post feature and sometimes I don’t realise I am posting on a club page. But there again does it really matter. Sure it gets a little feisty at times but that’s because everyone of us is very partisan about our views on our clubs and rightly so. Nil has always been a roller coaster on message boards but I’m completely fine with what he posts. He doesn’t bother me.
