Nine, I was making reference to the push mate from Holgate that led to Firmino confronting him.
Holgate stood there like it was the ‘norm’.
I might be wrong but that appeared just plain cynical. Hardly a fair way to approach a game and just creates unnecessary tension.

6th January 2018 at 10:26 am #11220If holgate is using the racist card to deflect his push which you could have seriously injured Firmino then he deserves a massive ban
If Firmino has used racist language then he deserves a ban. Time will tell

6th January 2018 at 4:58 pm #11260AnonymousI don’t understand why a bigger deal isn’t made of that shove. He set him flying head first into the stand and it was 100% on purpose. That absolutely could have seriously injured or even killed Firmino. I know that sounds dramatic but there’s no other way to put it, we’re pretty tough as animals go but if you fly head first into solid concrete, you may die. I don’t know the laws of the game off by heart, far from it but for me that was dangerous play and an instant red card.
Firmino clearly got a serious shot of adrenaline and that worries me a little because it’s at these kinds of times that we can do and say soemthing seriously regretable. racism doesn’t belong in this game and I’m not excusing it but at the same time we have no idea what was actually reported yet. The thing is though, that kind of dangerous play has no place in this game either, or does it? The player wasn’t even booked!
Anyway, let’s hope that this incident isn’t racism based, I think we could all do without the drama and fall-out from such a thing. We’ve had it before and it was just unpleasant to say the least.

6th January 2018 at 9:33 pm #11331Looking back, Holgate weirdly just seems an oddball to me. He had his arms wrapped around Adam Lallana, retracts himself conveniently to ‘type’. And puts another human being into what could have been a serious injury.
I actually read somewhere all Firmino did was call Holgate a Bitch. Holgate is a grade A monotone insensitive excuse of a Professional (if you can call him that).
I won’t tell a lie, if that was me in Firmino’s position pushed the that way, I would have swung for Holgate end of and subsequently would have landed myself in trouble with so-called law. I don’t like his face and his demeanour.

6th January 2018 at 9:42 pm #11334I thought it was a soft penalty and that Lallana just like Hazard on Wednesday night made the most if it but by the rules of the game though it might have been soft it was a penalty.
The shove was totally out of order.
Whatever was said by Firmino and it’s been widely reported if it’s true he will get a very lengthy ban. But let’s leave it to the FA to investigate it all properly.

6th January 2018 at 9:53 pm #11338If Firmino used a racial insult then Liverpool should sack him. End of! Surprised if anyone else thinks otherwise as racial abuse is illegal and therefore classified as gross misconduct in most companies. Why should a very well paid high profile footballer be treated any differently. But if he is found guilty we all know he will be.

6th January 2018 at 10:16 pm #11346Why is focus solely on what has been alleged to have been said? I don’t know. I can’t lip read.
What I can see though is somebody innocently for no reason being pushed and being put at risk of serious injury.
I really do hope the FA thoroughly investigate as week in week out, we don’t NOT see a high quality player in Roberto Firmino thrown conveniently into the Advertising hoardings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6th January 2018 at 10:25 pm #11349And, arms around someone I just don’t accept. That’s against the laws of the game. The Penalty was rightly award. No softness about it!!!!!

10th January 2018 at 7:12 am #11922AnonymousYou wouldn’t sack a player for saying soemthign racist because whether you want to keep him at the club or not, he is an asset that can be sold for millions. Regardless, I think if he actually said anythign racist we’d have heard more about it now. Lip-readers don’t see anything racist being said. I don’t think we should assume guilt.
