Whilst on the surface the club appear to be standing very firm on Coutinho, I would bear a few things in mind:
– The relationship between Klopp & Coutinho has allegedly been strained for the last 6 months.
– Klopp likes his players to be fully committed to the cause, not to mention he has his tough training regime, that not every player will love.
– Barcelona / Madrid is always the dream ticket for South American players, can Coutinho be sure the chance will come up again next year?
– During interviews Klopp is now immediately deflecting questions about Coutinho to the owners, saying it’s in their hands, not his, i.e. he seems to be distancing himself from Coutinho.
I think this will go down to the wire, I’d expect another bid from Barca. It could be a hell of a deadline day, with big business both ways.

20th August 2017 at 3:22 pm #4017Moreno looked good in pre-season, he’s good going forward, he’s quick, and when he’s in the right position and stays on his feet he’s difficult to get past.
Unfortunately he has a tendency to over-commit in the challenge and leave us exposed if he misses the ball, is poor at aerial challenges, a huge bag of nerves in the penalty area, and bombs forward to counter often before the threat on our goal is really over. He can go 90 minutes without getting exposed, but I’d put those performances more down to luck than anything else.
Against any team who’s done their homework and taking the game seriously, Moreno is a weakness in the defence they will look to take advantage of.

20th August 2017 at 5:03 pm #4032Problem is barcalona are only willing to pay so much upfront. If the struture of the deal is to be believed that we are right to tell them we’re to go. They received all the neymar money
I think it’s to late to replace him. We are never any good at this. We panic buy. We need at least 3 players in even without couthino leaving.

20th August 2017 at 6:40 pm #4037Story I’m told on coutinho is that Klopp wants to sell him and bring somebody in for a similar price tag, but the owners want to keep him. Klopp has urged them to engage and negotiate. He rightly sees PC as a luxury player.
Not sure of all the reasons why but they were unhappy with the Suarez deal and also how Barca are talking to the player on a daily basis, via 3rd parties of course. They thought the Suarez deal reflected badly on them.

20th August 2017 at 7:05 pm #4038Interesting about couthino beni
As for Moreno, I’ll be disgusted if he ever starts a gave fir us again
He was dreadful during the week. He clearly takes nothing in that the coaches tell him. He is just brainless when it comes to defending

20th August 2017 at 7:20 pm #4040That makes some sense Beni and would correlate with what we’ve seen so far. Also I think Firmino is more important to Klopp than Coutinho. Be an interesting two weeks.

20th August 2017 at 11:03 pm #4045Agree Sean, I think Moreno isn’t a top 6 team standard. Speaks volumes for us if he gets any more pitch time.
I’ve been sent a link to see Craig Bellamy saying on Tv a similar thing about coutinho – can’t seem to paste it here, do would suggest googling it. If Klopp had his way he would have sold him.

21st August 2017 at 1:05 am #4048Interesting info Beni.
Klopp is all about team team team, so maybe he has seen some cracks in Couts that we are not privy to. The owners would see Couts as a status symbol, a WC player at the club….as do the supporters.
Honestly it is not the end of the world, he does have an edge but we can definitely play without him. (In saying that, I really want him to stay)As for Moreno, I agree. He can be a bit mental, but I still think he has the potential to play well. Now that I have seen Robertson’s debut though, I would play him over Moreno when possible for the PL etc

21st August 2017 at 9:25 pm #4065Years later the Andy Carroll saga has finally provided some rewards, we don’t have enough time to replace Phill so he is not going to leave even if we did like the offer, selling Coutinho could set us back progress wise… Better to keep him and use him even if he is unhappy.
I feel it wood be a game of pass the buck… Barcelona are in a unenviable position, every body knows they have money to burn, if they give us 150 for Phill we would be inthe same situation as them, with everyone knowing we have money to spend, meaning we could get ripped off… If this had happened at the end of last season then I think it would have been better but it’s too late now…

21st August 2017 at 9:38 pm #4068Man that midfield is looking drier than a pickle in the hot day sun.
So far the midfield 3 have struggled to either win the defensive battles (hoffienhiem) or failed to contribute significantly to the team creativity (Crystal Palace).
The defence had taken a lot of criticism lately but I actually would say the the midfield 3 have been poor so far… Henderson, Can, Winaljdum are good players but they are somewhat similar in their range of abilities. None of them can really change the hand from an attacking sense…great link up plsyers but they don’t offer unpredictability and or dribbling skills. As such the attack has at times looked dry apart from Mane and Salah. I know Klopp loved those versitile players but I think he needs to invest in mote versitile players with game changing abilities.

28th August 2017 at 6:45 am #4302Talk of a big bid for Lemar from Monaco? Is this Liverpool spending the Coutinho money or are they looking at signing someone like Lemar regardless? Arsenal seem to have given up hope on him now. Could he a good move

28th August 2017 at 7:05 am #4303Maybe Iโm reading a bit much into it but I get the feeling Couts is gone & we are working on finalising replacement/s before itโs announced. I reckon he wouldโve made some statement or something if he was staying but itโs all very quiet & as I said I think he will be gone by Friday. To be honest I wonโt be that upset provided we do indeed get a good replacement. He obviously doesnโt want to be here so I say go join what looks to be a deteriorating Barca.
I wonโt be bothered If he stays either, as long as he puts in & play like he has previously.
Still some movement to come in this window Iโm thinking & I think itโll be pretty good business for us._____________________________

28th August 2017 at 12:05 pm #4332Does anyone have knowledge of how good he is and whether he is a replacement for couts?
We still need a dominant CB as a minimum and maybe a defensive mid too

28th August 2017 at 1:18 pm #4336I think Seri had a chilblains issue which meant he couldn’t train or play in the winter months. Sort of an issue in the UK.
And after the match yesterday, I’d say the Ox wasn’t worth the salary or the reported fee.
