Sean,
I remember when Tiago first came mate; real breath of Fresh Air, tucking in midfield and his Link Up play. Everton screwed him over sadly. He’s Bettered and a Sound Professional; very focused and Level-minded.
Sean, I miss Coutinho, still haha.
His Pace, Dribbling Ability and Runs Down The Left-Hand Side. There’ll be timely reminders of a void left. Unfortunately, we didn’t sign Marco Reus, but Rodgers at the time really presented us a Top Top Attacking Line Up.

6th August 2021 at 8:45 pm #182343Sean, all true enough mate but without the owners change tact or you get another couple of Coutinho type deals done as good a Coach as Klopp is not necessarily this season but going forwards it’s going to be tough for Liverpool to keep up with some of their competitors.

6th August 2021 at 9:00 pm #182346No problem really with what the owners do nine mate. Itβs a business run by people who want to see their team do well. They canβt just spend anything
When I say our success is more special , I mean to us Liverpool fans as we donβt have owners who can just buy without thinking like Chelsea and city have done over the years. Thatβs in no way a dig at Chelsea or city. Iβve no problem with how they got their success.
Maybe we can still compete in the next few years. Spending vast amounts of money , doesnβt always mean success. This summer is about tying key players down. If it means a quiet summer then fine.

6th August 2021 at 9:02 pm #182348Best thing they ever happened to us was couthino going nil mate. As none says helped us by a good few really key players.
His career really has gone downhill since.

6th August 2021 at 9:09 pm #182353Sean, I’m sure Liverpool will have a good season this season mate and be right in the mix I don’t think that’s the problem. True enough if Liverpool get lucky in the transfer market or one or two outstanding prospects come through that’s a way of bridging the gap.
It’s going to be tough for all to finish above City and that was before they bought anyone.
Winning the CL in May felt pretty special to me Sean.π

6th August 2021 at 9:32 pm #182357Ye and well deserved nine mate. I donβt begrudge any teams who have billionaire owners who have bought their success over the years. Chelsea is now being run probably and deserve all the success.

8th August 2021 at 10:27 pm #182436Anonymous“I still canβt believe we pulled ourselves together and finished 3rd.”
It really was incredible alright. The lads got shaken awake and really delivered, just on the nick of time. TBH, they left it too late in my opinion but results also went our way.

8th August 2021 at 10:31 pm #182437AnonymousThanks Sean, ya that really looked nasty. I hope he’s ok but I’m predicting that there will be some ligament straining in there and that we won’t have him for a while. You never know, we might get lucky with an injury for once though.

8th August 2021 at 11:07 pm #182440Ah, mate, truly missed some own in house every chat. It’s been soul destroying and empty to say the least. It’s huge to take into next season.
It was a nightmare to say the least. Outsiders looking in, I really don’t trust their intent or credibility.

9th August 2021 at 8:51 am #182448Ye mak, looking at us in pre-season and we look sharp but Iβm concerned about us at the back. Vvd is going to take a good while to get back in shape. Matip looks good but Iβve no doubt be injured soon along with keita
We get caught out fat to much with simple balls over the top. Elliot looks a proper player I have to say and wonβt go on loan this season
As well as jota had done, thereβs something about him that bothers me. He misses to many chances and wayward touches and passes. Maybe I am being a bit harsh. We need our forwards to start taking their chances. We missed far to many last season
Hoping salah, Bobby and mane can really hit the ground running . Think it be salah, jota and mane on sat

9th August 2021 at 10:22 am #182451Sean, I agree about Keita. He looks rehabilitated though. We have a clean bill of health now. These are established players and know each other and the system.
Just need to get back into the groove mate π

9th August 2021 at 3:33 pm #182469AnonymousThanks lads, it’s good to be back. Ya, I have some health issues atm, been working through them the last few months. Improving diet, getting exercise, cutting down and finally stopping drinking altogether but even with all this, I still feel kinda poorly, so Im gonna insist that the doctor give me a check up and work through whatever is going on but ya, it should at least mean that my temperament is a bit better. Sorry if that’s a bit TMI lads, it saves me from having to go on about it at a later date though.. back to the football.
Nine, ya, I wandered over to the Chelsea side largely out of a lack of news on our end, more than anything. I have to say that this Tuchel fella was a breath of fresh air last season. I will admit that I didnt have much of an opinion of him until I had seen a few of his press conferences at chelsea. The guy is knowledgeable as hell and charming as anyone. I’m not at all surprised that he won a major trophy with Chelsea already. We may have passed ye out there towards the end but I see us both being closer to th etop next time around.
“As well as jota had done, thereβs something about him that bothers me. He misses to many chances and wayward touches and passes. ”
Ya, jota is a flawed gem. He’ll either develop a rounder, better game under Klopp, or he’ll continue to be this kinda flawed player who still somehow gets a good return for the minutes that he plays. I still see him as 4th choice but he’s a lot ,closer to our current 3 than you could realistically hope for, whilst also keeping the player happy at the club.
Some have predicted for Jota to have his break-through season and you know what, I may have been one such voice a few months ago but after seeing the run in that we had, I think that front 3 now will re-establish itself near the very top of the game. I include Firmino. I say near the very top because they never really were quite the dreamteam, individually. As a unit though is where their and this entire Liverpool groups strengths have been.
If Liverpool arent good enough to properly challenge for the PL, I’d really love to see us put a genuine effort into winning a domestic cup. I have called for this before and Klopp has usually almost thrown away the cups. This would be a fall-back wish for me.
“Vvd is going to take a good while to get back in shape. Matip looks good but Iβve no doubt be injured soon along with keita ”
VVD will indeed take time. Matip although made of glass has shown an ability to get far longer spells in the team before breaking down than Keita, who I refuse to get hyped about. I’ve been sucked in before and the second I start getting hyped again, he disembowels himself on a blade of grass. The player I am currently trying to hold myself back from getting hyped about is Elliott. Not a bad thing when you have to remind yourself that it’s early days though. That’s a good kinda problem but as I said somewhere else, I think I now see why we’re not (seemingly) signing a midfielder.

9th August 2021 at 3:48 pm #182471Mak, Sorry to hear about your health problems buddie I truly sympathise take care of yourself definitely get the Doc to check you out thoroughly.
Good post by the way Mak wouldn’t disagree with any of it although I still think Liverpool will probably sign a midfield player to replace Wijnaldum before the window shuts. Always good to see you on the Chelsea site mate. Cheers 9’s

9th August 2021 at 4:09 pm #182478AnonymousCheers Nine. On the Wijnaldum replacement topic, I’ve talked with some of th emore sensible posters on TT about this and there’s a valid argument that Thiago was an early replacement for Wijnaldum.
I will teleport back to my thoughts on it when the deal was announced. I had spoken about this to a non-Liverpool supporting friend and my immediate thoughts were that Thiago was a replacement for Henderson. My friend agreed but, we were both wrong and there was one small thing that opened my eyes to the idea that maybe he was a replacement for wijnaldum instead and it started with a video on Youtube. the video was basically displaying how hard it was to get the ball off Thiago. it showed various clips of him either on the ball, or receiving/challenging for it, and a host of players trying to tackle him and failing.
This is a trait that kinda went under the radar with Wijnaldum for a long time but man, he is so difficult to disposes. People have asked me what use this is, like a player failing a challenge doesnt create space to exploit in setting up your next move… but there are some shared traits here and then there is Thiago’s creativity, which wijnaldum could never match of course. Now, it did take him a long time to settle in but we were seeing his value there towards the end of the season. We’ll still miss Wijnaldum , hopefully not too sorely but the argument is there that we had already replaced him.
—–
I want to add that i am not entirely settled on this point and am not arguing that we’re all good in midfield. I am only saying that there is a credible position to be argued there. if you followed the thread on TT, you’d have seen that generally I am in the “we need a midfielder” side of the fence but having see Elliott yesterday, I am very much softening my stance there. I see a player who could be good enough to have some form of break-through season. By this I mean that he’ll come on as a sub, play lesser importance matches like the domestic cups and to have the potential to surprise people. I wouldnt be comfortable ,relying on ,this but Klopp is working with him every day and I trust him entirely. if he thinks he’s ready for any form of trust, I’m on board.
There is still the remaining fact that most of our midfield are kinda injury-prone. Injuries are my biggest concern for this season. Whether that’s returning defenders or our current midfield group.
Hope that wasn’t too long-winded π
