Yet another distraction for Liverpool this season which is likely to unsettle an already fragile Alisson.

25th February 2021 at 8:16 am #175994Nil, whilst some of the Medical Department at Liverpool have moved on in the last 12 months others have come in to replace them and Liverpool have a fully functioning fully staffed fully paid Medical Department.
Injuries are part of the game particularly impact injuries like Van Dijk’s and with a condensed season with 3 games a week and no pre season muscular injuries have been far greater than normal and not just for Liverpool.

25th February 2021 at 8:42 am #175996Just read that about Alison Ed
Thatโs very sad mate
Injuries are part and parcel of the game. Iโve never seen an injury crisis like tvis at the ckub before
Only 5 players have missed less then 3 weeks of the season
Crazy stuff but we keep going

28th March 2021 at 12:02 pm #176865Our game versus Arsenal is next Saturday Night, can’t wait ๐
I’m sure this was originally scheduled for Sunday 16:30. WOW!
I’ve read rumours about Coutinho wanting to come back and Barca letting us have him for an incredibly low fee. I can’t see it happening though realistically. Have they even cleared their ‘installments’ off with us in the first place for him?
Luis Suarez, another player linked.

28th March 2021 at 3:19 pm #176872More rumours than you can shake a stick at Nil for everyone.
I’m a bit worried that the changes to FFP when it’s intriduced though it might benefit the Club’s with the richest owners and those that generate the most revenue it will leave all the other PL Clubs behind.
As for the rumours on Luis Suarez going back to Liverpool based on the two games I saw him play against Chelsea and despite the goals he’s scored in La Liga he’s miles away from the player he was although at a pinch still the Master of the dark Arts.๐
I can’t see Suarez being good enough to replace any of the current 4 front players other than perhaps the odd cameo appearance off the bench.
But it’s just one of the many rumours circulating currently.

28th March 2021 at 3:55 pm #176874Yeah, not even sure if Klopp himself is interested Nine. Lots of years have passed by since 2013/14, re Luis Suarez. The way Coutinho left us wasn’t too clever.
Some some hot air I guess whilst it’s been quiet.

2nd April 2021 at 7:51 pm #177011We supposedly have New Kits in place – oh my God even with Nikey! The Red one is gross! Arrrrgh – Pink used with Red for the Home Strip.
1 – The Ones Designing
2 – The Ones Choosing and Agreeing
We’re on an Alternative Planet me thinks.

5th April 2021 at 7:08 pm #177125Whilst things suddenly look rosy again, and many of the fixtures and fittings are back in place, should we be more critical of Klopp for not finding an alternative system whilst we had the injuries over recent months? For example, could Wijnaldum have played in a more advanced role like he does for Holland as opposed to Klopp seemingly keeping the front 3 in place whilst creating a makeshift defence & midfield? I suspect trust is a big part of the answer to this and we see it with many other managers who donโt like risking certain players in certain positions over belief and trust. But regardless, the results over winter were pretty disastrous so surely some alternatives may have proved better?

5th April 2021 at 9:04 pm #177127Agree Mikus. My only criticism of Jurgen Klopp in not adapting to a formation suited to availability of players. We could have played with 3 at the back. We used to play under Roy Evans 3-5-2. Alternatively, we could have played 4-2-3-1 using Salah as a lone Striker.
I know we had a consistency of injuries, but this is something the Manager could have thought about and if not already, experiment with.

7th April 2021 at 11:18 am #177180I think we have to buy an actual striker. I think our only striker at the club is Origi, who never plays in that position anyway. This business of thinking we can constantly rely on our forward wingers of Salah, Firmino, Mane & Jota I just donโt think is sustainable. Donโt get me wrong, their numbers have been incredible over recent seasons but at the end of the day they really are just forward wingers who are exceeding what is normally expected of wingers. We need actual strikers and we need midfielders who can chip in with goals. Not this rinse and repeat 4-3-3 just hoping the front 3 will keep delivering along with a press. The whole team is rigidly and constantly set up for the front 3. That has to start changing.

7th April 2021 at 11:56 am #177182The movement up top these days is terrible mikius. Far to static. Mane looks like heโs given up
Madrid when to 4-5-1 without the ball and our full backs had no space to go forward but Madrid had plenty of space to get behind us
What really gets me is the lack of effort. Keita was a disgrace yday.
Mane canโt be bothered. The basic first touch of some players is dreadful?
What do you make of kabak? I think heโs doing fine.18 m for 4th choice???

7th April 2021 at 12:10 pm #177183Our problems are exacerbated by the absences of Van Dijk & Henderson who have been leaders in this team. But we should have more of those.
As for Kabak, I think heโs done ok Sean. But heโs still very young. As you and others incessantly point out – this high line doesnโt help and is obviously going to put pressure on them in games.

7th April 2021 at 12:12 pm #177185One of the faults like in our whole development structure and thinking about experience and being able to step up in absence of key senior figures. The only individual I can think of is James Milner when we lose both Van Dijk and Henderson.
We had this problem when Gerrard was Captain for us. When he was out, the rest weren’t quite the same.
You need strong physicality at the back and leadership. The only guy in my mind is Robertson, but even he has run out of steam.

7th April 2021 at 9:05 pm #177199Guys, to me the whole spirit is lost and we just above all look deflated. I don’t think overnight players just lose their ability, ambition and drive. There’s other factors that have bubbled up.
I think looking ahead, we can graciously accept this season as a Write Off and just have Time away from the circuit.
We owe it to ourselves being the only Football Club to have faced a Pandemic after winning a League Title from a 30 year wait.

8th April 2021 at 9:31 pm #177215Nike…not quiet the same, other teams in other leagues won the titles and still faced the same pandemic but I think I know what you mean, so not the only team…..Sorry Nil nit picking with this but does need to be corrected in fairness to other teams

9th April 2021 at 1:40 pm #177225Spot on Brian every Club has had to cope with the pandemic not just Liverpool and winning the title after 30 years last season had nothing to do with it,the main thing that impacted on Liverpool this season was the loss of Van Dijk and Gomez.
But if has to remembered that Klopp failed to strengthen that area in the Summer when he had an opportunity to do so whilst also selling Lovren.
Liverpool were top of the PL at Christmas having just beaten Palace away 7-0 despite the pandemic and despite losing both Van Dijk and Gomez so Liverpool’s problems probably go a bit deeper than the Pandemic and even the losses of Van Dijk and Gomez remembering they were part of the defence that conceded 7 to Villa in September and 3 at home to Leeds at the beginning of the season.
