4-2-4/4-4-2 like the other home game before would be ACE. Need a really nice win with lots of goals this evening. That would serve us Pool fans nicely π

6th December 2020 at 4:25 pm #171577AnonymousSean, I was heavily leaning towards Adrian but over the last 24 hours or so, I am just thinking ah fuck it, stick the young fella in and tell him there’s no bloody pressure on him.
I am worried about this game though, no matter who we pick. If Trent is 100% fit and ready that’s absolutely brilliant and he cant come back soon enough, so it would ease my worries a little. yes, the club should have gotten a better number 2 but I am guessing they were already spreading their finances thin with the deals they did and you wouldnt undo any of them just to get another keeper in… well I wouldnt anyway.
This summer we absolutely have to and depending how things go, maybe even January.
As doe the team,. I’d stick with the 433, maybe play Fabinho in midfield, bringing in Williams. its not ideal but this would give us the chance to rest Mane, who is just not firing at all cause he’s wrecked, I think.

6th December 2020 at 4:37 pm #171581AnonymousI was fretting about us needing Anfield for this game and then I remembered that we will actually have some fans there today. I know it’s only a token crowd but I’m really excited about that. Hopefully they can add enough atmosphere to motivate the lads.
Anyone else think that our non-losing run at home is going to end soon though? I just cant see us getting up to Chelsea with no crowds. Home and away are almost entirely the same thing, bar some traveling and training changes. This could be the one we finally lose. Im even tempted to place a bet but I’m always uncomfortable with betting against Liverpool, so I probably wont.

6th December 2020 at 9:38 pm #171696AnonymousI’m absolutely over the moon. no Van Dijk or Alisson and we keep a cleansheet. Kelleher did his job well, so many of our team were excellent TBH. I came here to repeat this cause I dont want to annoy the others but this team are really showing why they won the PL. To have so many injuries this season and to still be putting teams to bed like this is really something.
I was starting to doubt whether we could defend the title. There are some glaring weaknesses on paper but when it came to the match, they werent so glaring. I dont think Neco Williams is good enough though but we roll with it.
Fabinho and Matip are bloody formidable in defence. thats our partnership for the season, when fit. Hendo and Robertson put in a great shift and the goals-scorers speak for themselves.
Im so hyped after that. i saw title winners out there tonight. By that I mean, I saw the team that achieved it. No chance im gonna dilute the improvements we see from spurs and Chelsea, who will challenge this season.

6th December 2020 at 9:46 pm #171699Let’s hope Crystal Palace really give Tottenham a game next weekend and get something from it. That would help us out.
Fulham Away, next Sun. We need to clear up our last CL game then that’ll spare us till Feb 2021.

6th December 2020 at 10:00 pm #171701Anonymouswe dont need to look to other teams, we play Spurs in 2 matches time or so. If they beat us then we can go down that alley i guess but ya cheers Nil, what a day for us! Fans back, young lad in goal keeps a cleansheet, Mane gets back on the scoreboard, we win really convincingly, get trent back from injuries and I won a small bet on it all π beaming.
have a good night man and you others too!

9th December 2020 at 8:24 pm #171786Not sure what to write on the back of Jurgen Klopp’s expression and body language; seems he’s disappointed we didn’t win the match and maybe, he’s driven by his own standards which of course is good, but we were in a Healthy Position before kick off.
No criticism at all on Kelleher. If anything, just more praise for the Guy; he could be a real future; just lively and energetic, he’s been really worthy of recognition.
VAR is VAR; maybe that’s what’s ignited to Klopp’s mood. It’s pedantic. It takes away the flow and momentum in enjoyment, focus and everything else, but there’s Positives I’m sure we can take away this Evening to Prepare us for Sunday.
Onwards and Upwards π

9th December 2020 at 10:14 pm #171797AnonymousYa Sean, I won’t lie there is an extra bit of pride/worry when it comes to Kelleher because he’s from across the city from me. I went to school near enough to that when I was young and knew a Kelleher from the area, of course its a fairly common name so it’s very unlikely that he’s a relative.
anyway I didnt watch much of the match tonight. I wasnt in the mood, which is rare, as ye know. The CL groups were over for me last week though and this was a chance to play some fringe players and rest some others. I was surprised that Klopp played as strong a side as he did. was this not a good chance to rest Salah?
This worries me. Is Salah now not going to start in the PL? He’s our best forward this season and surely we should have given him a chance to rest a bit. Maybe he wanted to get that CL goal scoring record but to hell with it, if it gets in the way of actual results in the PL. Were it the knock outs then I’d have a different song to sing because as ye know, I love the CL with a passion. I desperately want us to win it this or next season if we can but this was a dead rubber, at a time when fixture congestion is taking players away from us.
I guess Klopp just wants to win every game and there’s merit in it but I would consider him to be a really pragmatic coach and this didnt quite fall in line with that, in my opinion. Maybe the science lads told him he was fine to start both, I only know what I know from observation of the sport and my instincts are all I have there but they are telling me that we need to do more to rest our top players.

12th December 2020 at 8:07 pm #171901AnonymousI’m not going to get too excited about Ox being back. he’s got a lot of talent but on the whole, I don’t think he’s good enough to challenge for a starting place in the side. More than that though, he just can’t stay fit and we have too many players in our squad who are in this bracket. At times Ox has definitely delivered of course, with some really special goals. He can come in and offer some other players the chance to get a rest and that’s very valuable to us right now but what about when this scenario is no longer the case? I think he’s on pretty hefty wages, so given everything I’ve said above, I think we should look to move him on in the summer.
Switching topics though, the draw today means that City are 5 points adrift of us with equal games played. That’s huge, especially considering that we’re struggling with major injuries. So much of it goes down to Matip and Fabinho, they are a really high level CB pairing and although we’ve conceded a lot, it is slowing down drastically. Clean sheets are now a realistic thing for us to hope for again and there’s nothing needed to be said about our attack, it’s in good enough shape, with the width back to full strength too.
All is looking well for us, somehow!

12th December 2020 at 8:32 pm #171906AnonymousThe club are waiting on swelling around Jota’s knee to go down before they scan but there are worries that he’s damaged his Posterior cruciate ligament.
I was just thinking about how we could afford to miss him for a game or 2, just a few mins ago and now I read this… Jesus christ. What’s with the really serious injuries?
I mean this isnt confirmed but how often do you hear that there are major concerns and then that it was actually nothing serious? It’s pretty rare in my experience. This specific type of media leak tends to be on the money usually.
well, if it is the PCL then let’s hope it’s only a little trained or something.

TAA
Fabinho
Matip
Robbo

Salah
Mane
BobbyThis is the team that is doing the rounds from some “mole” twitter accounts apparently. Although to be fair I think with our injury list most of us would of guessed that team anyway.

13th December 2020 at 10:41 am #171928Should be good enough to do the job and take all 3 points back to Anfield. Looks as though Allison is keen to reclaim his No.1 Spot. Need to start bagging in some goals and rebuild our goal difference properly.

13th December 2020 at 11:58 am #171935Just discovered we have an extra Gameweek going into next week. I think we’ve got to be careful how we make our team selections, because this Wednesday is a crunch game in my eyes that could potentially define psychologically in Spurs challenging for the Title.
If there’s one man that can end our Anfield unbeaten run, it’s Jose. Something to think about anyway over the next few days, but first things first and Fulham.

13th December 2020 at 1:58 pm #171937Anonymousya, 3 PL matches for us within the next 7 days, the landscape might be quite different by then. Southampton with another win there today, up to 3rd. impressive and winning 3-0 without Ings scoring shows that they have a bit about them. As for us though, that is a pretty strong starting 11 Threeps. Of course fatigue is going to be a real problem, just hope we can keep our heads above the water, in terms of new injuries.
