1st December 2020 at 10:00 pm #171362AnonymousGonna say one thing here though, it’s a bit rich to hear Klopp complain about not getting 5 subs and he only used 2 tonight.
Maybe he needs to shut up about it, if he’s not going to take advantage of them. He only went on about not getting to play Tsimikas there last week and rest Robbo for the end of a game. On some level maybe he’s pushing them to make sure we win and so he can rest people for the next match, on some level that makes sense, given how he’s risked so much for the chance to win this.. but still, this doesn’t look good and that twat at SU will think to say this some time before he gets relegated.

1st December 2020 at 10:04 pm #171364Young lads can be very happy with their performance tonight. Jones seems to have upped his defensive side recently and is pressing far better. Pleased for Neco to have a good game after suffering a lot of stick before and Kelleher will be made up after a pretty much perfect debut.
Agree Mak about Mane there was no need at all. Could have spoilt an otherwise nice game for us reds.

1st December 2020 at 10:06 pm #171366Mak I think it has to do with the rest time between games. Klopp has said before that 4 or 5 days is absolutely fine and the players can play both games consecutively with no problems. Its when its 2 or 3 days between games thats his issue with the lack of 5 subs.

1st December 2020 at 10:06 pm #171367AnonymousSean, Mane and Salah were poor. They are tired and also seem very frustrated. Perhaps they don’t like it that Klopp has brought someone else in who might take some of their minutes. TBH, I couldnt give a mittens about their feelings if that’s the case. Firmino came on today and should have had an assist within minutes but Mane fluffed a simple through ball.
I dunno, is it fatigue? Good chance of it but between Mane’s sluggishness and petulance and Salah’s selfishness, we’ve got 2 players who are in need of not playing the next game but we have no choice to make on that, they will both play. After tonight i might be inclined to start Firmino and Jota and on whoever trains better of the other 2. Let them work it out in training.

1st December 2020 at 10:14 pm #171368AnonymousThreeps, that might well be correct but arent they already tired and have just recently played? Robertson had his ankle bandaged earlier too, just take him off. what if they scan him later and realise that he played the rest of that match with an injury? it happens all the time, so there would be no need to run around on it when we have a perfectly capable player ready to come on. Maybe Klopp doesn’t like this new lad cause he cant get a look in. If he isnt working out then fine but he was just recently giving out stink over not being able to take Robertson out.
If the gap between now and Wolves is good enough, surely it can be made better for already fatigued players, by not over-exerting them. it’s those last 30 minutes that offer the most problems.
anyway, Im not saying Im absolutely correct but I feel that some things were a bit wrong about tonight. I’ve spoken about all of them and ya, you have a point alright about the gap from here to the next, I admit that Io hadnt thought of it. It comes some way to explaining it but I still dont feel it is enough reason to only use 2 subs. Im not suggesting Klopp had to use all 5, either… the idea is of course to have the option when you most need it but I was really surprised with only 2.
On a positive note, I bet Kelleher is on the phone with his mam right now π

1st December 2020 at 10:54 pm #171370Anonymousit wasnt just their touch. I didnt want to dive into mane’s performance too much but he’s dropping down looking for freekicks or penalties instead of trying to finish. I think some of it is confidence but but some of it is competence. Maybe he’s been on the verge of burning out now for a while and just desperately needs to be rested for 2 weeks? I dont think 1 week would do him. As for Firmino, maybe he should have scored, it came on the end of what I think was our best play of the night and it makes it all the more disappointing in one sense but I won’t knock him tonight. I know I’ve really spelled out a lot about Mane tonight but as i said to the lad in the offy just before the match, he’s really due a good performance and that was definitely not it.
Just think back lads, we’ve seen this from him before and we came to the conclusion that he was tired. i cant remember how it played out in the end but I have a feeling that he got a rest and fired on again. Maybe someone with a better memory will come in here.
anyway I dont want to poke at the issues at the club anymore, we won and qualified for the next round. We can rest players next time out, so we achieved that goal. Kelleher made i think 3 very good saves tonight at least, Jones played well and scored the winner. there are a lot of positives, you know I was just really thrown off at the very end of the game when Mane tried to “accidentally” slap the guy in thew face, missed and then felt he had to go again. That made me wonder about a lot TBH.
Its over now though, Wolves next, hope Robbo isnt carrying any knock through. That Kelleher might actually be a keeper (in both senses!).
GG

1st December 2020 at 10:58 pm #171371AnonymousI guess one thing about Mane is that Papa Diop was a Senegalese player and that could have been on his mind. It wouldnt cover other games but he was particularly off tonight.

4th December 2020 at 1:02 pm #171463AnonymousAs I suspected, Kelleher will not start for us against Wolves. I’m fine with the decision but I am not fine with Adrian being back up to an injury prone GK. People may have wondered why we’ve done so well for a team missing half it’s players but a part of that goes down to us having still had Alisson. I see on the various Youtube videos and fb posts, people absolutely slating Adrian and not just for his ability. People are getting personal since Kelleher’s performance against Ajax.
I think it’s totally fine to be critical of a player but I don’t get how people can seemingly really enjoy twisting the knife… But those types aside, I’m not looking forward to seeing Adrian in goal for us. I was worried about what Vardy would do to our defence and ultimately that went the other way and we battered them. Well, here I am again worried what a side might do but with a less specific focus of threat, especially with Jimenez missing the match.
He won’t be out long but it may be one injury too far for us. If I were Klopp, I’d start Jota, Firmino, Salah. Mane needs a rest. So, we can keep playing him and get the performances we have been getting, or we can take him out for 2-3 matches and have a chance to get him back to his best.

5th December 2020 at 9:30 pm #171517More of Competitiveness felt this time round. Liverpool or practically at the moment no other team are able to pull away. There is no gap at the moment.

5th December 2020 at 9:39 pm #171520AnonymousWell, let’s just keep pace with the rest until we get some of our players back. We’ve done so well so far and although Wolves will be tough, especially with Adrian in goal. I’m really not looking forward to a nervy defence that clearly doesn’t trust Adrian.

5th December 2020 at 9:54 pm #171522AnonymousThis is where I’m not sure. I don’t think either option is very good. If Klopp pushes Kelleher too quickly, he could set his development back. Kelleher was brilliant against Ajax but there were moments where you could still see that he needs to continue improving and these are things that will be exposed by a very decent PL side.
We know Adrian is a disaster waiting to happen and I am not pleased to have him any more. I feel bad for the guy, he gets nothing but abuse, for what really is just a lack of ability because besides that he seems like a stand up guy.
Klopp will not start kelleher but maybe he’ll get a few games before we hit the January transfer window, where he can give Klopp enough confidence to maybe not go into the market for a good deal. Now, I don’t think we will but if Adrian is a disaster between now and then, Klopp almost certainly will.. Just as he did with Karius.
I guess we can expect kelleher to get the final group game, at least. Maybe he’ll do enough to earn a PL start, [against a lesser side than Wolves.
anyway just thinking out loud here. Good win for Chelsea there, we’ll have to watch them.

5th December 2020 at 10:30 pm #171529Not thought that deeply into it. Just want a Keeper performing like we had done, on Tuesday.
He was really the Extra Mile. We need a real Uplift Tomorrow and 3 points.
A real long wait and having to weather rival teams play their matches, not really deep down my cup of tea.

6th December 2020 at 9:01 am #171538Mak, I agree mate. A poor performance from kelleher tonight abd it would be a big set back for his confidence. The chap will have been on a high since Tuesday. Adrian makes a big mistake every game though so big decision for jurgen tonight
Alison is such a massive loss. Concerned about tonight as we are still missing to many players.
We badly need to get to jan still up near the top abd get at least one cb in and get players back. Taa, keita might feature tonight abd ox be back soon
Iβd go with
?
Taa fabhino matip robo
Hendo Winji
Salah jota mane

6th December 2020 at 1:05 pm #171546Problem is Adrianβs confidence is going to take a hit if Klopp is now overlooking him. Kelleher is young but doesnβt look phased by anything, so maybe stick with him. But as I said over summer, we really ought to have brought in a better no.2. Adrian was effectively a panicked last minute signing a year ago when Mignolet left and we were suddenly without any experienced cover. A club of our status now should be doing better than that.
