The last 7 or 8 weeks have been nothing short of disastrous for our club. Mane, Salah, Keita, and Thiago getting Covid, Virgil and Gomez getting season ending injuries, Thiago, Fab and Trent also being out for weeks, VAR denying us the winner at Goodison, giving a penalty against us v Sheff Utd, and it just goes on and on.
…but we are top of our Champions League group and still handily placed in the league. If any manager and group of players can overcome these trials, it is Jurgen and whatever players he still has standing

15th November 2020 at 2:42 pm #170268Thatβs HH chum. We are still. Wry much in the mix abd we havenβt really got going yet mate. This is what itβs all about. Bouncing back from big set backs and Iβm confident we will.
Interesting to hear lalanna say that klopp will look at all these injuries as a challenge and will love trying to figure out solutions
Be very interesting to see how the table looks on the 2nd of jan after all the games coming up.
We have to use the squad and really wrap matip up and pick and choose his games very carefully

16th November 2020 at 10:53 am #170293AnonymousSo, we’ve now lost Robbo and Hendo also. Both seemingly with tightness (CAUSE THEY ARE BLOODY FATIGUED TO BITS), so we won’t lose them for more than 2 weeks surely.
In the immediate future though, we’re in a genuine crisis here.
Shall we just consider the Leicster game lost at this stage? Are we going to be able to defend against Vardy, or create anything from the wings? Thiago coming back will at least mean we still have a chance going forward but he’s only back from injury himself and new at the club. Of course there is the other new lad, I forget his name but the LB that we bought from Olympiacos. He’s a very offensive player, so we have that. Clutching at straws though, as he’s not played for us yet, still it’s a good time to do it cause we won’t have any expectations.
The front 3 is still very strong, midfield will be ok if Wijnaldum comes back ok but he’ll be feeling the effects of all these games now too, surely. Only issue is with Hendo gone, Milner won’t be able to play one of the FB positions, so Klopp will have to get creative.
Thankfully we have 9 points in the CL though, so the 2 games that the lads will almost certainly miss probably won’t be absolutely vital. They’ll all be smelling blood though.

16th November 2020 at 12:54 pm #170294I think Robbo was more precaution as he felt it Wednesday
Not sure how serious Hendo is
I really hope Thiago back on sat. You then have keita, Winji Milner to choose from
Tsimikas can cover left back but maybe milner will play right back ??
Ah who knows mate. Going to really interesting to see how we line up

16th November 2020 at 9:07 pm #170304AnonymousI forgot about Keita but TBH, he’s just kinda back to disappointing. If he can muster up a top performance against Leicester though, that’d be something and ya Milner at RB man.

16th November 2020 at 10:05 pm #170307AnonymousSo Im watching some panel (I think it’s MOTD) and Ian Wright is on it and it’s them talking about the Leicester game. It comes up towards the end “I wonder if Liverpool would take a point” and Ian Wright firmly says “No chance!” several times an d says Klopp wouldnt accept it.
I dunno about that at all now. Look, I’m not going to have a go mat Wright for this opinion or anything, it is going to be a lot harder than people realise to be on one of these panels. As a Liverpool fan who maybe you lads will remember 95% of the time refuses the point before a game scenario (I recently had that 5% tho of course), I would DEFINITELY take a point right now and actually prefer to not even play the match.
What are your thoughts on this lads?
Just a note though lads, I’m not saying we will 100% not win the game or anything. I do think we only have a 20-30% chance and in my opinion the players could use the break. I wouldn’t want any more injuries and coming back from an extended international week… well you know the rest.
I can’t read Klopp’s mind but if he were offered a point right now, I think he would actually take it.

17th November 2020 at 5:35 pm #170316My guess for the line up on Sunday…
Allison
Milner, Matip, Fab, Robbo
Gini, Thiago, Keita
Jota, Bobby, SadioSubs – Adrian, Williams, Philipps, Tsmikas, Shaq, Origi, Jones
Still not a bad side that, you know! Of course, that side is picked on the assumption that Robbo will be fit and that there will be no further injuries in the internationals this week…some chance! Think Jurgen is more likely to risk Robbo against Leicester than Atalanta or Brighton the following week. He may well rest him in both of them. What are your thoughts??
I think both Williams, Tsmikas, Jones, Shaq and probably Origi will start mid week.

17th November 2020 at 6:29 pm #170319Good team Hightown.
I’m pretty sure Liverpool have got enough to get through this ideally they need to try and keep Matip fit and they probably need to choose his games. Once they can get to January though they can strengthen the Centre Back area.
Apart from the Van Dijk and Gomez injuries all the other injuries are short term and Liverpool will likely cope with the injuries quite well utilising the squad.
Suggestions are that injuries though not ideal might trip up Liverpool’s title challenge I don’t think it will Liverpool have a few tricky fixtures leading up to January starting with Leicester on Sunday however whilst it has probably made things a bit more diffucult I’m pretty sure they will navigate their way through these fixtures reasonably successfully and come the New Year they will probably strengthen at Centre Back and their title challenge will still be on track.

17th November 2020 at 10:03 pm #170330AnonymousConsidering the circumstances HH, that’s a damn fine team. Personally though, I’d rest Robbo. I’m not Klopp but he has got to take action before we lose any more players and we have the new lad. Tough game for him to come in for but look, he is meant to be an excellent player. I remember the comments from olypiacos fans and they lavished him with praise, lamenting the loss of him. I always find that’s the best metric for the quality of a player. Of course the quality of the league is a huge factor too though.
Slight worries over the fact that this is a few players first games after injuries but just pleased to have them available at this stage. The quality of Thiago could be telling also.

17th November 2020 at 10:07 pm #170331AnonymousNine, as for us getting through this in one piece, your confidence is interesting. I say that because as a fan, I’m worried but maybe if we dont get any more injuries, you might have a point. of course we have actually got to beat Leicester though for me to relax at all. I’m nowhere near as worried for the CL games, as we already have 9 points and have the luxury of giving players a much needed rest.
I cant wait for this weekend. Mostly because I want to see Thiago getting back on track for us. he looks to be a really great player.

18th November 2020 at 6:17 pm #170359Mak, I suspect Liverpool may not get through the period up to January completely unscathed but most of the injuries Liverpool have suffered are short term and their game strategy is to attack and offensively they still remain very strong.
If Liverpool can get to January still in touch at the top of the table and I think they probably can then they can strengthen the Centre back area and they will still be a strong contender for the title going forwards even without Van Dijk and Gomez.
Going to be an interesting title race from January onwards possibly with more than two teams involved too and whoever finally wins it I suspect it might be quite close.
