30th October 2020 at 10:51 am #169321Sean, I’m led to believe Antonio has picked up in injury.
Not a bad idea mate on Matip re the Man City game. We need to start experimenting and shoe-horning other options and basically be proactive.
Henderson I’m all for as a defensive player.

31st October 2020 at 10:55 pm #169465AnonymousKlopp has got to see that he should start Jota instead of Firmino. I doubt he will but I hope he does.

1st November 2020 at 10:45 am #169474Friend was good in studying the Video Monitor. Mane unfortunately fouled their Keeper, but he put his safety at risk as he could have been injured. Salah’s was a Penalty for me.
It’s the thoughts that build up from previous weeks when VAR have given decisions against us.

1st November 2020 at 10:51 am #169476Tough tough game next Sunday, but we can take encouragement from yesterday.
If we can get Matip ready, then he could start with Phillips – hope Klopp has this in mind. Maybe Gomez needs taking out and being more of a sub than a starter.
Allison is an asset with Leadership, but he has to be surrounded with defenders that are confident and can show resistance.
Will Thiago be fit? We have plenty of midfield and attacking options. Do we stick with Firmino? I’m going to say yes for the City game, but Shaqs for example deserves a look in and Jota is ready to step in.

1st November 2020 at 2:39 pm #169486AnonymousThat’s right, Liverpool are lucky. We fluked our way to having won the PL with about 12 games to go. Good old Moos, don’t ever change.
Nil, we don’t have the luxury of not starting Gomez. I mean I don’t even entirely blame him for the goal yesterday. It’s his job to get to clear and he didn’t quite manage it but it was awkward as hell. I’m not letting him off the hook but for me, it’s not the same level of mistake as some of his other stuff in previous matches. I think Klopp will give him the chance to right the ship.
Whatever the call regards Jota and Shaqiri, they have proven themselves to be useful off the bench, so we can at least expect a repeat and I’m happy enough with that for now. Thiago is the big thing for me. I guess his availability would have a determining effect on Shaqiri’s chances, as it’ll be difficult to see anyone but Hendo, Gini and Thiago in there and for good reason.
There’s a lot to worry about but a lot to be excited about too. It seems like our summer dealings were absolutely inspired. It was seen by many that we over-paid for Jota and I couldn’t strongly disagree with people who looking at his goal return rate for Wolves but have we pulled another Mane? I am not asking if he’s as good but merely the comparison in scenarios when signing. I suppose the same applied to Salah. I definitely felt we over-paid for Salah, at the time. 40m for Jota might look like daylight robbery if he keeps this up.
That goal yesterday doesn’t happen if Shaqiri isn’t put on for Jones though. We can’t forget that. Of course, Thiago can do that and more π … cant wait for him to be back.

1st November 2020 at 7:50 pm #169530Just realized guys, we forgot about Minamino! π Actually it’s Shaqs that’s the forgotten man, but it just made made me think with him in the equation the plethora of midfield and attacking options. Fitness permits of course haha π

1st November 2020 at 11:56 pm #169549AnonymousMinamino has been pretty forgetful when he’s been given a chance. He has a long season ahead though where he will get time to do something but if you ask me to compare him to Jota, it won’t go well for him.

2nd November 2020 at 12:40 am #169550I’d argue Shaqiri offers more than Minamino. Sadly Minamino looks to be moving into the Keita category where he can look a clever player & you keep seeing the odd glimpse of something, but it doesn’t really materialise. Very happy we held on to Shaqiri. He’s also pretty good at set pieces.

2nd November 2020 at 2:26 pm #169566AnonymousYa Mikus, in Minamino’s defence, he’s come over from a far weaker league and will have to physically adapt a lot more than most players coming in. For now though we’ve got to consider him to be a squad player at best. I think he’s probably got this season to show Klopp that he’s got what it takes but after that, I’d say we’d be looking to offload. Now, if those glimpses turn into goals/assists etc then sure, we’ve got to temper our expectations for an Asian player coming from a very weak league.
In those glimpses you can see there is a player there but just like Keita, I will try to not get too excited. As for Keita, he’s been here a few years now and I have several times given up and then gotten re-excited about… Argh. I hope I’m wrong but right at this moment I wonder if either will ever make anything of themselves at this club. If I could choose one to be a success here, I’d say Minamino. he isn’t injured every 2 minutes but he has a more daunting task ahead to make the grade.
Shaqiri, I can’t believe we kept him TBH. There were so many times in times gone where Klopp could and maybe should have used him but he couldn’t seem to get into his consideration. Then of course the injuries didn’t help at all but like the 4-0 Barca match, Shaqiri was called upon and bloody well delivered. He’s got natural talent and a great eye for a pass, with the technical ability to make it happen. I hope Klopp utilizes him more this term and of course that he can get over those injuries.
Any word on Thiago? FPL says he might be fit for the City game but it would be great if he could get 30 mins in against Atalanta. Maybe it’s coming too soon. I hope not because coming back from injury against a side like City, while you’re still settling in…

8th November 2020 at 9:32 am #169837We know City will try and press us today and Jesus I think will play.
Much will depend on our choice of central defenders, midfield and whether Jota will be ahead of Firmino.
I’d be happy with a draw and to end this week on a positive before closing for International break.
