I’m really surprised we’re still in for Sarr. I would have thought Jota and maybe Elliott would be ample cover for the front 3, not to mention Minamino. Sarr wont come cheap either. It does suggest that one of the 3 may be on their way.
Like you, Mak, I’d be sorry to see Gini go. He’s a good guy and has done some really good things for our club but I suppose he sees the writing on the wall with the number of midfielders at the club now. I think when all fit the first choice 3 would be Hendo, Fab and Thiago and with Naby, Milly, Ox and Jones also around it could be argued we have at least one too many midfielders. And I suppose the chance to play for his mate Koeman at the faded giant that is Barca is a good option for him.

Mak, I think that’s what could be agreed with Saar as more of a back up for the front 3. It would help us with other competitions where we’ve been forced to use our depth.
Perhaps in a way, it would give the front 3 competition and something to think about. Or in innocence, it’s just an extra outlet Klopp is thinking about to bolster his attack.

Hightown, it could be just as a top up on the squad and just fresh legs to bring on and say rest one of the front 3 so we’re using them wisely. We’re likely to play 60 odd games again, so it’s keeping players fit.
Possibly too an ear-mark just in case if for example, we were to lose Mane.

Ya but that is why we got Jota, Nil. To do exactly that, so like HH, if we’re after Sarr and the reports say we’ve agreed a fee of 32m then one of the big 3 must be leaving. I’d usually wonder if Barca are also going for Mane or something but they can’t keep quiet at all when they are after a player.
Sarr does look really good but to lose Mane would be a real kick in the stones but as I’ve gone on about many times now, we will lose him in a few years anyway but then we won’t get any fee at all for him. Maybe we have to be smart, maybe they are being smart and see further potential in Sarr and of course Jota.
Or maybe it’s all BS and Sarr was left out of the Watford squad last night because he’s going somewhere else.

Yeah, probably just all rumours Gents. I’m genuinely happy with the progress we’ve made in the signings. We have a Playmaker and a Striker which is what some fans have been speaking about and calling for. Either way re Saar, it doesn’t really matter though if somebody can come in to help, then I welcome that.
We’re possibly looking long-term in trying to offload the surplus we have.
It could be the overall vision of our squad in what we want to bring in and sell.

I honestly find it difficult to see what we need right now. Arguably the best keeper in the world, best right and left backs in the world, best centre back, Mo, Sadio and maybe even Thiago and Fab have no peers in their positions. So possibly only Gomez, Hendo and Bobby can be improved on for the first eleven, and none of them are too shabby! I guess the best way of looking at it is if any got injured and how big a drop in quality that would mean. I’d be worried if Trent was out for a long time. While Williams looks as though he could develop, he’s a long way off yet. Matip or Fab in for the centre backs, any number of options in midfield like Naby, Gini, Ox and Curtis, and Jota and Minamino up top. I really don’t think we need anything. Sounds arrogant, doesn’t it? Anyone we buy has to be prepared to sit on the bench (probably the reason we didn’t get Werner, and you’re unlikely to get a true great who is prepared to do that.
As I’ve said before, the only player currently playing in the Prem that would definitely walk in to our team is KDB, and we ain’t going to get him. Of course next year when players may leave, it’s different so we do have to think of the future which is where Jota comes in, I presume.
Interesting times, and a great time to be a Liverpool fan!

HH, Ya man, we’re near perfect in the first 11. That is a crazy thought but it’s true. I mean, an 11 that is a unit of course, this isnt football manager we’re talking about.
Neco Williams may have potential but he’s nowhere near PL level at all, if we lost trent, I imagine that one of Gomez, Tsmi-whatever his name is, Robertson etc would swap over. Having that quality cover for Robertson kinda covers trent, especially then with Gomez being able to play there.

When I’ve said similar things (and I have), i definitely feel that pinch. I felt that way when I stated that with the Thiago signing, we’ve improved a team that walked the PL next season, so who is gonna stop us? … Now, we obviously know that City might well do it but the point is, it’s not really arrogant because this team is incredible and has done it all.
The drop off in other positions was a amssive issue but with Jota, that is much less so, in terms of up front. Minamino is improving but is still an unknown quantity.
Thiago comes in to improve midfield and Fabinho seems to be a bloody amazing CB, although I think we need another CB because Matip is made of paper.

Agreed. If Firmino wasnt playing his pressing role then I would say Aubameyang would also walk into our team in his place. There are others who would compete for a palce of course, not going to try and name all of them but your point is valid.
As for the interesting times, we’re absolutely spoiled in some ways and with the virus, cheated in others.

I think Extras could be a combination for the ‘what ifs’ or should a player leave and most importantly, our Future. Klopp obviously will leave and certainly won’t do ‘a Ferguson’.
Unlikely realistically that no Manager will, but I’m thinking rather than us left faltering, he’ll leave us with a Healthy Squad.
More importantly, all this tells me that we want to try and deliver Title 20 and square with United.
