Bit harsh Mikus suggesting the owners are hiding behind the pandemic. The club has lost millions of expected income and will do so for part of next season too. Plus they have the same situation with their baseball team. I am actually glad we have owners that actually run the club with a successful business model and not just make marquee signings for the hell of it.

1st August 2020 at 3:35 pm #138770Perhaps Threeps, but my point is under these circumstances it makes it harder to judge how much they’re willing to invest in the team.

1st August 2020 at 3:38 pm #138774AnonymousI think he meant that they have the opportunity to hide behind it, if they wanted (so we’ll never know kinda thing). The losses from the pandemic are incredible alright.
Even if we sign nobody I’ll still be pleased with FSG, they had the sense to bring in Klopp and to promote Edwards amongst making other good decisions. They’ve added a really cool stand tot he stadium and we’ve got a new training ground that has the senior and reserves training at the one complex. I think this was a really smart decision that I’m sure Klopp will really approve of.
I think it’s hard to have too many problems with the club right now, besides what we’ve talked about before and maintaining the level we’ve reached.
I still don’t see how we will replace our 28 year olds when they start to come down out of their peak levels. Van Dijk should age better than the forwards (health/fitness luck depending). Out of the front 3, I think Firmino will age better, then Mane and then Salah. I could be wrong though and we’re nowhere near any real concerns in that regard, except for the asset value of the players as I’ve previously spoken of.
Maybe Klopp has asked FSG to keep the stars he has for his remaining time here and if that were the case, it would be hard to deny him that, given how this is largely because of him. Klopp gets paid many millions every year but he more than pays it back in his part to play in the increase in club value. Before we won anything with him, his image alone was worth a lot to us. Not just the attractive brand of football but the guy oozes class and charisma, you see the commercial demand that he represents, for advertising etc. There is then of course the successes and what that does for our brand. He gives FSG a lot to exploit in the market-place and although I am not a fan of Nike as an entity (also their designs), they wouldn’t be exploiting people to make our jerseys without what Klopp has done here.
Anyway I go on don’t I π
Speaking of the new jerseys though, what do you lads think? I knew Nike would come out with a neutral/pastel-ish red and I absolutely hated the pics of them until I saw the team wearing them. I still don’t like them but they do look a bit better when you see the lads wearing them but.. I won’t be buying it. Im not a fan of the teal stripe, I know it’s in the Shankly gates but I don’t think it goes well with red, I mean we’re a football team not tube of Aquafresh, or Christmas candy cane.
I don’t own the current NB jersey and I really want to pull the trigger on it. I had it in my cart and all earlier but money is very tight ATM, I’m not sure I can justify it. I will probably budget it in there though, as I love the NB jersey. That deep red is Klopp’s Liverpool to me.

2nd August 2020 at 10:16 pm #139981The New Kits are Grrrreat π I went on the Club Shop Website; would like to buy my Little Brother either the Away Black Shirt or something out of the Training Range.
I can’t believe the deal we’ve struck here as it’s truly fantastic and feel like a kid in a Sweet Shop π
Red Shirt is trying to basically mirror 1993-94 and 1994-95. Lol, in those days, Kits lasted at least 2 seasons before a change.
Alludes to sincere great memories of the 90s in signing Nigel Clough and Neil Ruddock
Happier Times in my World back then as we could say back then in School to United fans that we Hold 18 League Championships π π

3rd August 2020 at 2:20 am #140111AnonymousNot being combative but those are the reasons why i really hate this jersey. Nike are being paid phenomenal money to replicate a jersey from adidas, of a particularly unsuccessful time from our past.
Not just that of course, you lads know how much I despise Nike and I get it, you all love them. I never will but, for me, this piece of shit jersey is exactly what i expected. I told you it would look like an Arsenal jersey and tell me I am wrong.
They have this washed out , pastel looking red… or at least this is my best description as someone who doesn’t know colours.
anyway I didnt own the current jersey but Ive ordered one and I was even looking at NB trainers because I wanted to support the brand after I’ve confirmed my own ideas of Nike (alongside their horrible business practices). Any company that uses Chinese concentration camps for cheap labour is one that will never get my business. I guess Nil you can love their shit all you want lad and that goes tot he rest of you too. Personally, I draw the line with them. Even if this were NB though, id think those jerseys were fuckign disgusting because they are… I will admit that they look better when worn but so do arsenal jerseys. it’s not really saying much.
The deep red that NB gave us with our current jersey will definitely be looked back to with a future design, Im hoping soon.

3rd August 2020 at 7:55 am #140293I’m with you, Mak. The new Nike kit is dreadful, and Nil, if it reminds you of the times we were buying Clough and Ruddock, that is all the more reason to dislike it. I’ve loved the recent NB kits, with the unique blood red colours. As somebody on This is Anfield said, this new kit makes us look like Swindon!!

3rd August 2020 at 8:16 am #140304Hightown, from my POV the reminder was more about nostalgia towards those early 90s when I was a Teenager and it wasn’t always doom and gloom. Once Souness had left, we had Roy Evans and the then younger ones like McManaman, Fowler and Redknapp began to flourish.
What do you think of the Black away Jersey? One thing they missed was not having embroided us winning the Title – that’s the only real mistake. Other than that with Nike, I’m all for it.
Each to their own anyhow π

3rd August 2020 at 4:10 pm #140597Apparently, Mikus, it’s not turquoise, it’s f*****g teal!!!
Nil, it was more a comment on the two particular players you mentioned more than anything else. Ruddock was, and is, little more than a disgrace for a professional sportsman, and Clough, while he did have a few good moments, he was no replacement for Beardsley. And to answer your question, I’m afraid I haven’t really studied the black away top so I can’t comment. I just liked the NB kits. They were stylish and uniquely Liverpool. These new ones are not

3rd August 2020 at 6:28 pm #140688Hightown, fair dos mate. It wasn’t so much about those specific individual players but that for me, that part of the 90s watching Liverpool felt quite hopeful though I always felt we underachieved and probably just wasn’t ruthless enough.
Yeah, the Black one is Ace, become a fan of that.
If you are on a hunt, you should be able to find this season’s (just gone) online with the Premier League Winners 20 Printed.
Cheers

4th August 2020 at 1:50 am #140943AnonymousI wouldn’t buy a Nike jersey even if I liked them. I don’t want to get into another discussion about how none of these brands are innocent (they definitely aren’t) but Nike were the original scumbags and they seemingly continue to be the worst offenders. They have what are effectively concentration camp forced labour to make their shoes, so they can get fucked. It’s a happy/infuriating coincidence that the jersey is also a soulless piece of cheap shit.
HH, I’ve really become to appreciate NB for the blood red jersey we wore this season. The colour on it’s own and the design itself gave off a rich vibe and Nike’s safely, safely template, pastel colouring crap was never going to match up.

22nd August 2020 at 6:51 pm #158911Pre-season game just finished against Stuttgart and a good 3 nil victory for the Reds and a clean sheet for Adrian. Happy with that. We have another game Tuesday, then all systems go for the Community Shield next Sat.

22nd August 2020 at 6:53 pm #158914Terrible weather. Keita looked sharo
Be great if he could just stay fully fit for a while
He could be a massive player for us. Looks very good at tones then gets injured

22nd August 2020 at 7:50 pm #158951Sean, not sure mate on location, but think it was in Austria. Yeah, it wasn’t very nice in playing conditions. It got to the point of floodlights being forced on.
With rain and everything though, I’ll take that, plus a clean sheet. A good run out.

24th August 2020 at 9:30 pm #161016Ye nil, great business as allowed us to bring in some real quality
Really hope keita can stay fit this season
He really could be a huge player for us. Plays well for 3/4 ganes then gets injured. Takes him a few games to get back into it. Starts to play well again then gets injured. Itβs been that way constantly for two years.

24th August 2020 at 9:59 pm #161036Sean, that’s true mate. I sensed that with Fabinho too when he suffers injuries. Takes him games too to get back into the rhythm.
Yeah, we need these players to step it up for us next season.

25th August 2020 at 5:11 pm #161591Two good instinctive finishes from brewster. Not sure he suits the way we play but he can really finish
Really interested to see how good we are defensively this year as var really has helped with our high line. Itβs just so risky.
Few played look sluggish. Few more weeks to get fit
