10th June 2020 at 9:47 am #113871Another little poser for Jurgen over the next few weeks is whether he uses the opportunity to blood any of the youngsters, like Jones, Elliot and Williams. Assuming we get over the line without too many problems, will he consider himself having a free hand to try a few things, or will he want to try to break points records etc? I kind of hope he treats every game like a cup final, and we try to finish on as many points as possible. It would be nice to break the points record, but then again, an opportunity like this to test some of the kids won’t come around again.
What are your thoughts?

10th June 2020 at 10:36 am #113873Hh , I hope you are keeping well mate.
I just want to get the league over the line . Once we can get that done then Iโd love to beat 100 points but itโs one step at a time for me. Iโm just hoping the league is safe to start back etc
Be good to see the guys get minutes here and there. Games will be coming thick and fast.
I have to say, Williams cane out of no were but he looks a player
Already live watching jones and Elliot play. Elliot has an outstanding attitude going by past and present coaches comments
Jones is a typical cheeky scouser who has huge confidence in himself
I really want to see Keith finish the season well. He gets a run of 4/5 games and looks to be hitting his stride then gets injured. He has looked brilliant at times but canโt stay fit. He has everything in his locker to be a top player for us but he needs to get going now.
Good to see lalanna stay on for a few months. Done nothing wrong over the years and hopefully he leaves on a high. I expect him to go to Leicester

10th June 2020 at 11:36 am #113877I would want the team to remain professional and fight for every point, for both for the integrity of the league and to further enhance our season. I would like however one or two of the promising youngsters (Jones, Harvey and Williams) to be included more often in the match day squad and maybe get some minutes if we are cruising in games.
Good old Keith eh? Hope he gets to find some form, I still see a player in him. Stats wise he is actually pretty impressive but we can all see with our own eyes he hasn’t performed as we want. I just want him to grab a game and dominate the midfield, I am still confident he can.

10th June 2020 at 12:25 pm #113878Anonymousthreeps, I’m afraid the integrity of the league is gone. that’s not the fault of the teams, the players or even the premier league itself. it’s just how everything has worked out. any other year I would say they should go all out for the record but with transfer activity likely to be very limited this year I would have thought this is a great time to give the youngsters more game time and get them fully integrated into the first team squad. you don’t need to play all of them at once but there will likely be 6 or 7 games where 3 or 4 of them can play a key part

10th June 2020 at 12:29 pm #113879I’m thinking as you may of guessed of teams that need points and if Liverpool put out a young team against them how those around the teams would feel. I think we should still be professional whilst giving some minutes to those youngsters mentioned, just not the sort of team versus Villa or Everton in the cups.

10th June 2020 at 3:29 pm #113882Cheers, Sean…yeah, I’m doing well, thanks. We obviously all hope that everyone stays safe, but I have to admit, I’m looking forward to the resumption of the season, integrity intact, or not, Pax. I don’t really get why the league has lost it’s integrity anyway. The rules and conditions are the same for each team, so for me there is no issue. The season needs to be finished, and unfortunately this is the only way it can be. If next season starts with no fans, is the ‘integrity’ of next season ruined as well?
I’m with you, threeps – I’d like to see some minutes for the kids, particularly Jones, though he has a bit of competition from the likes of Ox, Millie, Lallana and of course, the irrepressible Keith!!

11th June 2020 at 9:26 am #113908AnonymousHH – as i said its through no fault of anyone but the conditions aren’t the same anymore. this isn’t a moan I just know more about spurs fixtures than other teams. so far this season spurs have played man u, Leicester, arsenal, everton, west ham all away. these are teams we have left to play I would consider being big or a team we are competing with. in those games they all had home advantage. they had their home support fully behind them (maybe not west ham). now that isn’t a thing. there is no home advantage. look at bundesliga. as of the 30th May, only 20% of games were won by the home team.
also with 5 subs now allowed, this definitely favours the bigger teams over the smaller ones. they have bigger and better squads to choose from and now have an even bigger pool of players they can use.
i understand all actions taken were necessary to get the league up and running again but its definitely not same conditions.

11th June 2020 at 10:34 am #113940Paxo… reckon for our boys we don’t have a lot of wiggle room, just need to hit the ground running. Lose that first one against YooUtd and it’s over!

11th June 2020 at 10:47 am #113947AnonymousHightown, with Paxton on this one. It isnt the same league, we’re in the middle of a pandemic, there are no fans allowed and all players are back from injury and the subs have been increased. The only integrity being kept is an exercise in contractual obligation. Nothing is the same in the league as to when it stopped.
We still dont have a date for finishing the Champions league, suggested to be around the 29 August…. We don’t have a date or any idea how next season will pan out or start or whether the clubs will go straight through and if players pick up the virus after the weekends protests, we may very well see the season stopped again.

11th June 2020 at 10:57 am #113956There was never going to a truly “fair” solution, every team is going to have some advantages and some disadvantages depending on who’s already played who home and away, and certain clubs getting certain players back (obviously us getting Sonny and Sir Harry back is a huge advantage!).
But what other solutions are there? Time machines don’t exsist… yet! ๐

11th June 2020 at 11:00 am #113960Nine glad you modified 442s last post there’s no need for that comment. Please if you have nothing constructive to say regarding Liverpool then take your comments to a different thread.

11th June 2020 at 3:17 pm #114084some very valid points there Paxton.
Everton away is a horrible fixture for Liverpool but thereโs no fans there so thatโs makes it less daunting.

16th June 2020 at 12:25 pm #117604AnonymousHH, I definitely want us to try and break the points record. I know that a lot of the records that are mentioned these days are not that significant but a points total record is a great indicator for just how dominant a team was during that year. Considering how crazy City’s seemed at the time and how we have the potential to absolutely blow it out of the water, maybe creating a nearly unbreakable record then ya, we’ve got to go for it.
If we need to bring the kids on then they can make substitute appearances but I think it’s too soon for most of them if I’m honest.

16th June 2020 at 4:55 pm #117741Yeah, I agree, Mak. A season ending with 105+ points would be truly remarkable. However with 5 subs available for use for the rest of the season, I think we will see some interesting mid game changes and maybe even some interesting starting line-ups. I t wpould be interesting seeing the likes of Jones and Elliot getting some matchtime with senior players, and not just the other kids.

Considering I’m from the year 5276 I would beg to disagree, just the issue that nobody believes me. And no, Spuds have still haven’t won the league since 1961, and Maureen is managing Hamilton Acidemical’s and the puppy is claiming Chelsea were a big club before they spent a billion… ๐
