Mak, if football is suspended as it surely will be soon there’s no chance of Liverpool lifting the trophy in front of their fans until this things over. Liverpool are clearly the Champions but allegedly the PL rules say if the PL is locked down for more than 65 days then the season is null and void and that leaves a big mess to sort out.

13th March 2020 at 8:50 am #85289AnonymousHolly hell, they have a rule in place for that? There’s more than 65 days left in the season, so unless they actually make a decision to award it, then … I will not accept a voided season.

13th March 2020 at 11:06 am #85322Threeps, I’ve had a look and 65 days is a funny number, coincidentally, I believe if the league was suspended tomorrow then it’s 65 days until the 17 of May, which is the date of the last game of the season. So I would suggest that that is the last date of the season and all games should be played by then…..Pagan

13th March 2020 at 11:21 am #85331It is courtesy of the Telegraph threeps and was seemingly a rule in place long before any of this happened.

13th March 2020 at 11:24 am #85333…..it will be a real mess if that happens and it’s anyone’s guess what decisions may or may not be taken if that were the case.

13th March 2020 at 11:33 am #853409, I would suggest that league rules state a finish date (17/05/2020) and that date is 65 days away, too much of a coincidence I’d say….Pagan

13th March 2020 at 11:37 am #85345I saw it in the telegraph but that is hardly concrete proof, there is nothing official anywhere.

13th March 2020 at 11:38 am #85346Pagan, who knows mate but I think it’s probably immaterial this thing according to the medical experts won’t peak in the UK until June. I will be very suprised if this season is ever completed.

13th March 2020 at 11:46 am #85354threeps, I just put it up out of interest but if I was a betting man I would bet that a rule exists re the suspension of the League and the Telegraph seem to think that’s the rule?
The PL is suspended now and given the medical advice which is this thing won’t peak until June I think there’s more than a fair chance this season won’t get completed what they do about it from there is open to conjecture.

14th March 2020 at 8:57 am #85987AnonymousPaxton, How many times have you finished an entire campaign with more points than we have now, in March?
This is the Liverpool thread and you’re on a wind up. The thing is though, your team suck and will suck next season and the season after that. There’s no future for your team. No matter what happens, we’re the champions of multiple things and we’ll challenge for every damn one of them next season, while you piss away in 7th or 8th. Take a deep breath before you laugh because I don’t see many in your future.
Where were you when Stevie slipped? I honestly don’t remember your league position. I don’t think anybody else does either.
What would the response be if I went onto the city for life page and posted nothing but an anti city meme? I’d have used Spurs there only they are so ,irrelevant that it would devalue my point.. but still.
Its ok because it’s liverpool, as ever. more than sick of it now._____________________________

14th March 2020 at 9:12 am #85997Worst comes to the worst they should allow Liverpool to play their remaining games behind closed doors as is now necessary, well at least until the mathematics call them champions then close up shop. Well that’s my opinion anyway. Let’s at least make that official. It would be criminal if it wasn’t.

14th March 2020 at 10:46 am #86053Football won’t recommence again 67 behind closed doors or otherwise until this thing is over I think it’s very unlikely the season will be completed but Liverpool should be awarded the title anyway imo.

14th March 2020 at 1:53 pm #86154AnonymousMak stop being such a precious snowflake. It’s a bit of fun. Everyone knows Liverpool will be awarded the title and rightly so. Jeez you guys can be sensitive. It’s a fucking game. People are dying and all you care about is your league title.

14th March 2020 at 6:58 pm #86315Great statement from Klopp.
“First and foremost, all of us have to do whatever we can to protect one another. In society I mean. This should be the case all the time in life, but in this moment I think it matters more than ever.
“I’ve said before that football always seems the most important of the least important things. Today, football and football matches really aren’t important at all.
“Of course, we don’t want to play in front of an empty stadium and we don’t want games or competitions suspended, but if doing so helps one individual stay healthy – just one – we do it no questions asked.
“If it’s a choice between football and the good of the wider society, it’s no contest. Really, it isn’t.
“Today’s decision and announcement is being implemented with the motive of keeping people safe. Because of that we support it completely. We have seen members of teams we compete against become ill. This virus has shown that being involved in football offers no immunity.
“To our rival clubs and individuals who are affected and to those who later will become so, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
“None of us know in this moment what the final outcome will be, but as a team we have to have belief that the authorities make decisions based on sound judgement and morality.
“Yes, I am the manager of this team and club and therefore carry a leadership responsibility with regards to our future on the pitch.
“But I think in the present moment, with so many people around our city, the region, the country and the world facing anxiety and uncertainty, it would be entirely wrong to speak about anything other than advising people to follow expert advice and look after themselves and each other.
“The message from the team to our supporters is only about your well-being. Put your health first. Don’t take any risk. Think about the vulnerable in our society and act where possible with compassion for them.
“Please look after yourselves and look out for each other.”

14th March 2020 at 8:25 pm #86357AnonymousI tried to communicate a kinda similar sentiment to my sister just a few days ago. She had been watching some right wing media/videos that suggested that this is media driven nonsense. It was irony really, to see a video with some dramatically speaking idiots who were lamenting and bashing the media for over-dramatizing the virus.
This is a dangerous mentality as every person who willfully ignores preventative measures is putting the vulnerable at risk. Those who think they won’t die, so who cares… they are a big problem. I’m pleased to see that Klopp is yet again a sensible and thoughtful person, who puts real life before the sport. I’m proud to have him as our manager and not just because of the team he’s created. He’s a good role model for people and a good example in general.
The virus has a death-rate of somewhere around 3.4%. I think people look at that and think they have a 3.4% chance of dying, or that vulnerable people only have that same chance of dying but really, young and healthy people have almost a 0% chance of dying, which means that vulnerable people have a way higher chance of dying than this 3.4% figure. We have a duty to not get infected and spread it to older people, or diabetics, transplant receivers, or anyone with a compromised immune system. I tried to explain this to my sister and she’s no longer talking to me now… Confirmation bias is a powerful thing though. you can lay out all the facts or arguments you like but if someone doesn’t want to believe it, they won’t.
this is why we need the likes of Klopp more than ever. He’s someone who people will sit back and listen to. He has a gift in this regard. I expect that he’s made many many people reconsider their opinions, just with this statement.
