Thanks for that, threeps. I agree with Mak though, I can see him playing alot more than divvy. There has been times this season when Mo and Bobby, not so much Sadio, looked like they could benefit from a few games out of the team. And don’t forget that Mo is likely to miss the start of the season, due to the Olympics and he and Sadio will be away for the African Nations.
There’s been alot of hype over the last year or two about Werner, and if I were a betting man I would say at least one of Sadio or Mo won’t be at Anfield the season after next, so I;m in…sign him!

24th February 2020 at 5:05 pm #74932Nine city only beat West Ham 2-0.
Moyes need to change something. His defensive tactics are getting West Ham no were
He needs to start having a go soon but if West Ham are to open, we will beat them well
They have been shocking and it could be gone very soon as it was just a silly appointment
Antonio always worries me
Keita has to start for me

25th February 2020 at 8:41 am #75632Keita was woeful last night, Sean. I must admit, I’m beginning to think he ain’t going to make it with us. Thought Gomez, Virgil and the front 3 were off the pace also. Even Allison could have done better for their first goal, though he did pull us out of the mire with his save at the end.
Man of the match between Gini, Trent and Robbo. Probably Trent for the 2 assists, but definitely a night to forget.

25th February 2020 at 10:06 am #75694Keita was very ineffective. Gomez poor and not for the first time recently. Thought Fabinho was ok in possession but left huge gaps when they attacked. Thought he had a bit of a shocker to be honest, postionally all over the place.

25th February 2020 at 11:01 am #75720Interesting discussion last night after the game about whether we can dominate in the years ahead. I think we have one of the biggest transfer windows ahead in the summer which we really need to get right. You sense it will probably be someone like Werner who will come in as we tend to be very finicky about a playerβs qualities in terms of mentality, work rate as well as being young and offering value. And if reports are true today that his release clause is just Β£30 million vs Β£51 million, then youβd think heβll be one of the first players weβll snap up in the summer. But would we still target another attacker after that? I guess it depends on who leaves.
As for Keita, I find myself increasingly clinging to hope rather than evidence that heβll really step up. I donβt know whether perhaps Keita was asked by Klopp to play a more defensive role last night and maybe got caught in two minds more often than not, but he obviously needs to do better. Bizarrely though, he does look more settled in the team and the club. He maybe does need a run of games, but there lies the problem, what with his injury record, is he going to get them? So this is another area of the pitch that needs looking at.

25th February 2020 at 11:31 am #75732AnonymousGenuine question for you guys. Someone on the gameweek thread said the fans were disappointing last night. Do you think this is because you guys know the league is won and itβs been so easy thereβs little excitement and little need to get behind the team or was it just one of those nights?

25th February 2020 at 12:52 pm #75791Paxton, last night was the quietest the crowd have been in a longtime. It looked the crowd only got going when we went behind.
Klopp has really galvanised anfield since he came. Itβs such a strange position we are in if Iβm honest. No one their wildest dreams could predict how far ahead we are now.
The league is over. Iβd much rather tvis then to be in a huge fight with city and winning it on the last day
We can relax but believe me when the day comes when we are officially winners, the city and fans are going to erupt. 30 years is long. Itβs absolutely massive and I never thought Iβd see the day
Canβt wait

25th February 2020 at 2:59 pm #75885AnonymousPaxton, I can only speak for myself but I think the best way to describe things is just to say that the whole thing feels very surreal.
I’ve properly supported this club since maybe 93. I honestly don’t remember exactly when but I know I’ve never really seen the club lift a league title. All this time we’ve drifted in and out of being contenders, sometimes being extremely close. So many years of it being out of our reach but not so far that we weren’t dreaming of it, to then suddenly be just such a walk in the park (in terms of points, not performances)… It’s just bloody strange!
This on the back of winning the CL and then becoming world champions (rubbish I know but the title alone kinda something)… For a while there we kinda forgot what it was like to lose games. That is a really odd thing to say but 26 from 27, currently matching the all time wins in a row with 18… It’s like someone has been using the cheat codes.
You lads ever played Football Manager? Well, it’s a bit like when you for a laugh boost all your players up to 20 stats everywhere and then hockey everyone. After a while you are kinda apathetic due to not being challenged. Now, I know that’s going to come across as arrogant and let me clarify, we’ve had MANY challenging games this season. Chelsea could have drawn with us, maybe should have. Wolves gave us a right go home and away. Spurs even for 1 of the games. Leicester at Anfield was tough… But in terms of points, we’ve absolutely walked the league. I admit that I feel a little apathetic about things now and although I shouldn’t, I am mostly thinking of the invincible record now. That was my only concern against West Ham last night.
If we didn’t have that record, or a possible points record etc… I wouldn’t care less because the title is won, so I hope that answers things and also I hope people don’t take this as arrogant, we have been humbled in the CL just recently. We might well be out of the tournament after the next match.

25th February 2020 at 5:52 pm #76012Hi Pax – yeah, it as me that mentioned on the gameweek thread about the crowd. I was there last night, and the crowd was, as Mak says, apathetic. The league is won, whatever Klopp and the players say, and the crowd know that. It was a game last night that we should have walked in all honesty with West Ham being as woeful as they are. The crowd seemed to turn up expecting to be entertained and to see a routine victory. Ironically, the loudest the crowd was was when west Ham scored their second, and it was only then that they/we really got behind the team. No excuses…it was a poor effort from the crowd. And they better be careful what they wish for. If we lose against Chelsea in the FA Cup next week, and then fail to go through against Madrid the week after, then our season is effectively over, other than to go through the season unbeaten with a record points total. We’ll have two and a half months of effectively meaningless games.
There will be a cracking atmosphere against Madrid, of that I have no doubt, and the day we win the league (if we’re at home) will be party time, but the season will kind of fizzle out in a surreal fashion, as Mak says if we come unstuck in the cups. Bournemouth, Palace, Villa, Burnley and Chelsea are our home league games left, and I suppose with the exception of Chelsea, they aren’t really games to get the blood stirring, especially as the league will be wrapped up so early.

29th February 2020 at 4:12 am #78874AnonymousThere’s a really high chance now that Liverpool will be either securing and/or lifting the PL trophy in an empty stadium. The parade is also in danger.
This would obviously take a lot of the sheen off it and I know that our rivals would absolutely love it … but what would you rather, to not win it to a full stadium or to have the weirdest ever top flight division win/celebration ever? We all know the answer there but of course, we have to hope that it won’t be disrupted.
I thought of something else and that is that the Atletico match, or any potential subsequent CL matches at Anfield, could happen without our 12th man. That would put a huge dent in our hopes.

29th February 2020 at 8:44 am #79020I just want to win it mak. Celebrations will happen mate whether itβs the summer or sometime after it chum
I just hope nothing silly happens like the league being declared null and void.
Hopefully we see a bit of a better performance tonight then the last few weeks.

29th February 2020 at 10:19 am #79076AnonymousThey wouldnt dare scrap the league. Closed doors is all that will happen. There’d be a fucking riot if they tried to void the league. Like, there would genuinely be an uprising. That’s the exact opposite of what they’d be aiming to achieve with that kind of action. Absolutely no chance so don’t even worry about it.

29th February 2020 at 12:56 pm #79163Very difficult to predict what might happen. I don’t think you can rule anything out it’s not just the title it’s European places and promotion and relegation to the PL too. Juve v Inter now postponed in Italy.

29th February 2020 at 6:04 pm #79320I donβt like moaning when we have been unreal this season but we have been poor since we returned from the break.
No urgency going forward and very sloppy. To open in midfield aswell. Another very lethargic performance

2nd March 2020 at 11:27 am #79580Apologies this is taken from another forum but it made me laugh and shows how crazy some of our fans pessimism is and how stupid that other fans are now gloating.
Be absolutely mad if some mystical fortune teller sidled up to you at the bar after Kompany lashed that one in against Leicester and the league title dream was over.
“So mate, this a bit shit about not winning the league and feeling like you’re out of Europe but, little reveal and that, you’re gonna win 4-0 against Barcelona tomorrow”
“Oh gee, really? That’s a relief”.
“That’s not all, you’ll win the European Cup for the sixth time vs Tottenham in the final”.
“Sweet, where do I sign up?”
“No wait hear me out, I’ve not finished. There’s more. You’ll win the Super Cup in Istanbul against Chelsea”.
“Oh brilliant, that sounds like a solid year”.
“Still not finished mate, got a bit more to fit in actually. You’ll win the the World Club Cup in Qatar”.
“There’s no way 2020 can get much better than that then”.
“What about sticking out a gang of kids against Everton in a derby in the FA Cup and still beating them?”
“Bloody hell, that’ll take some topping”.
“How about winning 26 out of your first 27 league games?”.
“Christ, that sounds absolutely ridiculous – surely we will have a great chance to win the league for the first time in 30 years?”
“Correct. You’ll be 22 points clear after those 27 games. Although, there is one negative”.
“Jesus, this must be absolutely horrendous after all of that. Go on then, what is it?”
“You’ll lose the 28th league game of the season to Watford”
“Oh for fuck sake!
