Ya Sean, there is definitely a lot of bitterness out there towards us. I will say though, I had a good laugh reading a lot of Chelsea fans reactions when we knocked out Shrewsbury. No bitterness at all but many funny almost resigned comments. It seems that it’s mostly Utd fans (not on here).
I’m definitely not one to rub peoples faces in it either. Like you, I know how it feels. I mean, if someone is being nasty then the gloves are off but it wouldn’t be my default state 😛
The FA Cup… I wonder if Klopp will even care about it. I hope he does but there is a part of me that thinks he’ll play a pretty weak side and get knocked out. If I were Lampard, I’d put out the strongest side I could and try to win the cup. They’ve also got 4th to fight for and Knock outs ahead, so maybe like Klopp, he’s got other priorities. All said and done though, I bet Chelsea field a stronger side than us.
Chelseaman, ya the CL is possible but we’re so far away from even the final. I am very confident in us over 2 legs but we’ll have a lot of quality between us and a 7th trophy. You can understand why Sean doesn’t like to talk about winning this again, although it is very do-able. I am looking forward to the CL resuming in a few weeks though.
Good advice alright Sean though, to try and remain humble. This team don’t make it easy, I mean you could forgive us for getting carried away! … It’s temporary though and some day we’ll switch places with Utd, or barely make 4th and we’ll be back to looking up the table. I mean it could be next season, given how crazy the PL is.

8th February 2020 at 3:27 pm #68310Chelsea67, cheers mate. The Chelsea tie away is a really tough game no matter what team we play. I think we will see some young players but also first team players that need games. Liverpool will have a very decent team out
To win the cl again is going to be very very tough. Athletico Madrid is a horrible tie. Very difficult game
I actually fancy city for the cl as sane and Laporte be back. City are still a fantastic team. They should have been 3 up before the sending off last week
To win something big you need luck and I think Liverpool have had a bit this season. The top 3 have relatively stayed fit. Vvd aswell. Some of the chances opposing teams have missed have been crazy. It’s hard to explain but it’s just little small things going our away. Momentum is just with us bigtime at the minute but I don’t think we will go the season unbeaten and I don’t really care at this point as everything is just about the pl

8th February 2020 at 3:29 pm #68311Ye nine i agree mate. You know as a Chelsea fan when Chelsea were doing so well, people tried to find negative things about the club. It’s just bitterness from some fans.

8th February 2020 at 5:53 pm #68312Sean, doesn’t make sense to me mate if Chelsea can’t win the title which is more often than not I don’t care who wins the title.
If you’re a football fan you’ve got to enjoy the quality of some of Liverpool’s play. Be delighted for you especially when it’s officially confirmed. Cheers 9’s

8th February 2020 at 7:03 pm #68313AnonymousWe have had a bit of luck but not as much as people think. Fitness to the core players being the main part but we’ve had some bumps int he road too, we just dealt with them better.
City could definitely win the CL. They will have to sharpen up fast though cause Real won’t mess around. City’s entire focus will be on the CL now, so I can see them improving in it. I still think we’re slight favourites but everyone knows that a hungry City team is almost impossible to hold back. Whatever about us being kinda relentless in our results, we don’t savage teams like City do.
Sean, as for the opposition missing chances etc, very true man and you know, I think pressure plays a part. Teams KNOW that they will need to score more than once and that we usually don’t give away chances for fun, so I think it’s on their minds as they try to make an effort on goal. Otherwise, it’s hard to explain the luck we’ve had in certain matches.

8th February 2020 at 7:21 pm #68314No shortage of iconic shots to use potentially at the end of the season for us. Some incredible ones in the replies to this tweet (after the Man Utd game)…
No better ceiling. ?? https://t.co/edsn4gJwns

8th February 2020 at 9:17 pm #68321Mak, by luck I mean things just falling right for us. We have had var go for us and againest. Worst decision for me was firmino offside goal v villa which they did everything to try and time it out.
Last min goals are not luck. That’s just pure persistence and real belief. Utd did it for years.
I’m not trying to take away anything from us as we have been unreal. I kept seeing some many false dawns over the years and kept hearing “we are back”
That was never the case but we are back now And one man has changed everything

9th February 2020 at 6:56 pm #68353AnonymousYa, things that people attribute to luck are very often down to good preparation and mental qualities. As you say, late goals and to get them reasonably consistently goes down to mentality and also training and a professional approach to health by the players and staff. There is even a factor here for injuries. We commit the least fouls and I think also receive the fewest fouls against us than any other team in the PL. If your team are fitter than most of the others, you’ll have more energy in the latter stages and that combined with a highly determined team spirit will lead to plenty of late goals.
“I’m not trying to take away anything from us as we have been unreal.”
I never had the impression that you were 😉
We are unreal. Liverpool are currently better than I thought any PL could ever be. How long this continues on for, who knows but I would love for it to carry on in this vain for another while yet. Hopefully Klopp is on his way to becoming a name that could be mentioned alongside the old greats.

12th February 2020 at 6:47 pm #68548AnonymousIt’s just weird how quiet it is for Liverpool fans. I think people have to admit that we’re already bored of this season? I am. I mean, speaking in terms of the PL. Obviously the CL kicks off again soon-ish and I’m so thankful for that cause really, this 2 week break has felt like the summer for us. The league is absolutely over and the fixtures are clearing up for now.
As happy as I am to say that we’re the best team in the world and to be absolutely correct about it, with no real contender… well, you’d think that would be this amazing high but it’s just boring. I definitely don’t want to lose in order to spice it up… I guess it’s just a weird feeling from waiting so long, only to utterly blitz it, it’s surreal and seems almost like it was too easy.
I say almost like. I don’t mean that it has been, we’ve had plenty of tough games. Chelsea, Spurs, Wolves home and away, Southampton first half… Plenty of games that we could have lost. I wouldn’t take away from our teams mentality to take the points each match… but as a supporter, the PL season is over already. I’ve already celebrated a trophy long before it’s been awarded. It feels wrong.

12th February 2020 at 10:38 pm #68631Difficult to motivate the supporters yet Jurgen seems to have no such difficulty with the players, well not yet anyway. There is this long drawn out 12 week gap before you can properly celebrate when that trophy is finally raised with Chelsea’s visit to Anfield in May. Fully understand it.

13th February 2020 at 7:14 am #68798AnonymousI understand that this should be how it is but it just isnt. In my mind the title is behind me. It’s like we’re already defending champions. It’s not arrogance, not in the slightest, it’s just been done and dusted for a while now. By the time they raise the trophy, I think I may not really appreciate it fully. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe it’ll be amazing to me but it’s really not the same as the CL final where you just don’t know who will be lifting that trophy, as you watch the match unfold.
Maybe it’s that we’ve been waiting so long for the PL and then we just blitz it. It just feels weird TBH.

13th February 2020 at 7:28 am #68804AnonymousLiverpool have strolled the PL this season and really, the only thing stopping us from becoming invincibles are Man City away and the lads relaxing. I don’t think we’ll go the season undefeated simply because we’ve walked it so early.
Sky have a thing going right now where they want to combine the United 99 team and our current one. One of their pundits only had 1 Liverpool player in there. I think it was Threeps who opened up this question for us all here, some time ago and honestly, that Utd team on paper, as individuals, was very strong… but this Liverpool side is better. I think maybe it’s the best ever English side.
I’ve always loved an uphill battle, even in PC gaming etc. Liverpool are no exceptions and maybe this was the fuel to me supporting them. In my time as a supporter, we’ve struggled to be a top side but also won cups and been in finals but now, we’re the best team in the world and we’ve substituted that underdog title for that label and expectancy. I will tell you that although it is nice to say that, it’s not as pleasant as I had imagined.
Maybe it’s me but the magic isn’t quite as bright. I’m already thinking just of the CL. That’s something we could lose within the next 2 games but the PL is for me is in the past already and not seeing us lift the trophy for such a long time, it’s honestly a bit of a let down as an experience. It’s obviously a ridiculous achievement for the lads to end it all so soon but ya…
Anyway, I understand that not everyone will like this kind of talk. I’m not trying to insult or offend anyone. I do not take the PL lightly, it’s just a bit surreal in how good this team is. So good that us Liverpool fans have nothing to talk about. We have no transfers to look forward to because almost nobody can improve this team. There’s no insane Man City to hope to chase down this season. It’s the trophy at a canter.

13th February 2020 at 7:54 am #68809It’s not boring for me mate. I’m
Itching for every game. I’m not thinking about any records. The reality is we haven’t won it in 30 long bloody years and I’m
Taking nothing for granted. Each win takes us closer to what’s going to be the biggest celebration in yearsIt is weird as it would take something really mad to stop us. I’m just really enjoying the moment.
I remember when I was 13, we beat qpr 2-1 to win the league. I just grabbed my football and went out to the road to play.even at that young age to me it was just another trophy as we were so used to winning them
Now the excitement is unreal. This is absolutely massive for the club, the city and all the fans. It will only truly sink in when it’s all over and we look back
It’s the beat time to be a liveroool fan. Remarkable change in 10 years with new owners etc. I’m just really enjoying it but we have to be humble and just be happy as these days come and go very quickly pal

13th February 2020 at 8:01 am #68811Also mak, this season is a one off I’d say. Look how many times we have got close to winning the league but exceptional teams have pulled us. Look at city last year. 98 points, we got 97. That’s absolute maddens mate. How tough that would have been to take if we hadn’t won the cl
Last season, we didn’t lose it in my opinion. City won it as they just kept winning. Imagine the pressure on city each week having to win. They just kept winning. They were just immense and they deserved the title
Next year Chelsea will be better. Ziyech for 38m is a bargain. They have some very good young players and a good young manager
City will be much better in the league aswell
Really not sure about utd simply because of ole But they will spend money
Really interesting to see how spurs and arsenal get on

13th February 2020 at 8:21 am #68812AnonymousI guess i do take it for granted but I also anticipate games. This winter break is needed for the players and manager to get away from it all but when it comes to things besides that, I find it hard to not take our brilliance for granted a bit. I could never talk like this in another thread. I think people would call arrogance and such. The PL is over though and all that remains is potential legacy… but it is done and dusted. Nothing will stop us.
You could be right about it being a once off, I mean I said the same about City after they hot 100 points. I was wrong in a sense because they hit 98 the season after but I was only off by a year. This kind of form is unsustainable.

13th February 2020 at 8:24 am #68813Anonymousand ya, you don’t lose a title with 97 points, the other team just out-wins it.
Next season will surely be about the development of the other big sides alright. I have my eye on the mid-table teams this term. i think we’ve stollen their glory in a sense, as there are a few sides there who deserve some discussion.
Anyway, I gotta go for now. Good posts Sean.

13th February 2020 at 8:27 am #68814Things like Champions League finals are one off games so will clearly be very exciting. Winning the league at a canter might not be as exciting as a final, or winning with an “Aguerooo” moment, but those moments of excitement are in hindsight. Whilst City fans look back at that iconic moment against QPR with very fond memories and tales of how exciting it was, I bet most of the time they were stressed to the max and would have gladly swapped for a more gentle procession to the title.
I’m loving our title charge. I love how the team plays. I love how a lot of fans (online warriors to be fair) are hating it. I just want that title and to be honest I want it as soon as possible. After that I will think about the FA Cup or Champions League if we’re still in it, or maybe even records although I don’t hold them as highly as the media clearly do.
Next year we can have an exciting title race, two or three teams battling to the last day, but this year I’ll gladly take a gentle stroll just to get that 30 year wait to be finally over!
