Mak,
in short mate, my point was not about additions to replace, but to provide an extra shoulder, and effectively strength in depth.
This is an area we work on positively so we have enough metal to cope with a season and more than one playing comp.
I personally don’t surrender and buy into thinking Liverpool will be in ‘arrears’ to Manchester City. History proves any team in dominance eventually falls apart.
Cyclical in Football and in any sport effectively for that matter.

13th March 2019 at 7:56 pm #3569627-Every team in the PL can make as many signings as they want-just not the Neymar,Mbappe,Coutinho price rage! What is stopping teams finding the next £15m-£40m?

13th March 2019 at 8:30 pm #35708It’s more from our point of view the Fulcrum/Spine we already have which in line with Jurgen Klopp’s reign is fantastic and all in the right direction.
Transfer Windows in all honesty grow in difficulty.
There are in my view 3/5 players maybe to call time on, but I’ve always said, it’s about first improving immediately on the 11 on the pitch and thereafrer the squad which in my view for the development of the club all round must include youth.

14th March 2019 at 12:51 am #35754Nil fair points mate, We limped out of the minor cups but very excited to see us progress in the C/L & pushing city in the EPL. I suppose they are the big ones & we are still kicking in both so you can’t ask for much more than that.

14th March 2019 at 11:25 am #35782Mav I’d love for us to win one of the “little” cups mate, the FA Cup is what I grew up loving & what got me following Liverpool. Seeing Craig Johnston score in a final & my pop (RIP legend) saying “that bloke that just scored is an Aussie mate” got me hooked on the reds. Sadly we don’t have the depth to compete on all fronts & I’d rather still be in the C/L & EPL at this late stage.

14th March 2019 at 2:51 pm #35788Anonymousa day or 2 ago, I spoke about how I didn’t want to go out of the CL just to be fresher for the PL and what we saw last night is why. The lads grew into a tough game, away from home. They overcame their nerves and the pressure from a quality team and got such a good result that they’ll be buzzing for a week. if we weren’t in the CL, we’d have nothing to be positive about. city are still ahead of us, they won and we won.. so not much of a boost.
I honestly think they’ll have just as much energy for the PL now, due to the positive vibes they’ll be training under and everything associated. Also, competing in Europe is a good way to keep your players from wanting to go to Barca and Real.

14th March 2019 at 10:26 pm #35804Mak, I had those sentiments like yours in my mind and mentioned it on the other thread.
It’s healthier for the team to be placed with more games. I don’t actually believe in one-game-a-week. We need to be flowing. It also now will give Fulham something to think about this week. We’ve grown to be resolute and able to put up a fight.

16th March 2019 at 8:32 am #35905AnonymousWhen asked about the next transfer window, Klopp has said that we won’t be going mad to sign a load of players. I mean, we’ve got a few to replace and 1-2 positions to bolster anyway, so expect some action but nothing earth shattering.
You know what i’d like though? Enough so that we can compete across all 4 competitions next season. Klopp has shown absolutely no regard for the domestic cups so far in his time here and I totally get and support that. He doesn’t want to spread himself too thin but it’s a matter of resources and now that we’ve fleshed out the first team and even the bench with quality, surely the time has come where we can look at the extra competitions as something more attainable?
Klopp has a bit of a reputation for losing finals and there is some pressure to win something for us. If we end the season with nothing, it would be really smart to try and win something next season. I won’t complain if we win nothing, year on year we get better and I’m all about the progress. There are times when I’d prefer that we played a more adventurous style but we’re effective. We’re solid.
There is talk of Brandt again and I think he’d be a great signing because he could apply pressure to all of our front 3 and I can see us going for someone like him over someone like Fekir because we need an attacker more than we need a creative mid (controversial! 😛 )

16th March 2019 at 8:56 am #35907Makbe honest mate there is absolutely massive pressure on Klopp to win something.
He’s lost 6 finals in a row. It’s a horrible record to have and he has to get it off his back.
The club has lost its last 4 finals and lost the league in the last 5 years. The club and Klopp needs trophies mate. They are so badly needed that you can just feel the anxiety in the air at times.
My worry is this is the best Liverpool treat we have had in years. We make so many good buys these days. Klopps transfer re it’s is excellent. The owners live the club really well but imagine we win nothing under Klopp?
Wasn’t it Michael ballack that lost nearly every final he was in? That’s my worry about Klopp
We need one trophy and it would really push us on but it’s proving really difficult at the moment
The one thing is, you think we’re we were 4 years ago. We are now really pushing on. To finish this season would be devastating.
I don’t think I could handle another cup final loss or losing the league by a point ?
We need a trophy but I really think the pressure of us so badly wanting the league is actually affecting us

17th March 2019 at 12:36 am #36014AnonymousI feel everything you’re talking about. There definitely is a building anxiety around cup finals. It’s become a thing and as we’re heading into them, there is this thing in the backs of our minds and it’s no doubt in the backs of the players minds too. if we could get rid of that with the LC next season, that’d be great but of course, finishing this season with nothing would hurt again.. but it’s also the most likely outcome.
I’d say there is a 30% chance that we win something this season. I may even be a little generous there. if we were to drop points tomorrow, that would be chopped in half, if not more.
There’s no more time left in this season for messing around but even though it will feel like the end of the world for a few weeks, it really won’t be and this project can continue to develop during the summer.
obviously I am talking about this with the assumption that we finish the season pretty well from here. Ok, if we lose every remaining game then it’s very different.

17th March 2019 at 11:35 am #36045Sean, completely agree mate with what you say – forgot to actually reply to this yesterday.
There is pressure building up because as you rightly point out, the number of finals we have failed to secure into trophies.
I feel aggrieved. We have a far better squad than what Brendan left us. Klopp this season in particular has been trying to condition the team in order to make them more conservative and less gung-ho.
We’re not really shipping in goals carelessly like we used to. Remember before when there was corners and we didn’t deal with the second ball? All that has improved with Van Dijk, Allison and just all round better defending.
We need that monkey desperately off our back by winning ‘A’ trophy. It’s just about getting over the finishing line so we then have that experience of a winning mentality, something Man City already have.

17th March 2019 at 8:09 pm #36081AnonymousKlopp has already said that there won’t be a summer spending spree. I guess with the way that football and Liverpool have gone though, you could spend £100m and it might be considered “normal”. especially given that we need to replace Solanke/Ings/Sturridge.
I mean that plus us needing maybe 1-2 others, coupled with the money we’ve made, I think £100m is warranted. Am I being an entitled Liverpool fan or is this reasonable?

17th March 2019 at 8:33 pm #36083Sean, I think as the second half worn on, we were still hanging on a 1-0 lead. Fulham put the ball in the back of the net though it was offside, they probably sensed an equalizer. We got nervy, but credit to Klopp bringing Milner on.
Had a check at a few stats. Salah and Mane both sit on 20 goals, though Mane’s name of late has appeared in a lot of games. Salah hasn’t scored in open play since we beat Bournemouth on the 9th Feb.
To mix things up a bit, Lallana has been great starting for us. Something could be done in maybe benching and resting Salah. I don’t know why but Shaqiri has been selected by Klopp for quite some time as he could be really effective in these type of games for us. Mane has been immense.
