Minamino having his medical today and could make his debut in the FA Cup against Everton. Last time we had a player make his debut in the cup against Everton he turned out ok π
Rumor is we are looking at a young Championship LB (forgot his name, think from Coventry). I would guess that means Lewis and Lacouri would be deemed not to be good enough if it happens.

18th December 2019 at 9:31 am #56937threeps, I was just outlining Liverpool’s alternatives. I still think they could have left a number of Senior squad players behind like and still beaten Monterrey comfortably with what will be their first team anyway.
The choice Liverpool made was probably the right choice for Liverpool firstly there will be 3 very strong sides they would have drawn in the Semi Finals of the League Cup so nothing was guaranteed and understandably Liverpool want to win the World Club Championship as they haven’t won it before and it will get a lot more difficult to win from next Season under the new rules.

18th December 2019 at 11:23 am #56947They ate all midfielders you mention nil mate. Even with fab and Gini we are covered ok in midfield. Itβs the centre of defence which is the concern. Lovren and Matip are out. Fabhino is out also who has covered centre back. So if Gomez or vvd get injured we are in trouble

22nd December 2019 at 11:43 am #57206Oxlaid now is the latest casualty. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious and he recovers quickly.
Still have Fabinho out, plus Matip and Lovren.

23rd December 2019 at 9:40 pm #57367Comments from Pep sum it all up I think Nil and pretty much my thoughts.
He said: βWhen a team has 16 victories from 17 itβs unrealistic to think we are going to chase them.
βWe have to try to win our games, secure Champions League for next season and then you never know, no?
βIf they drop a couple of games, and we win and winβ¦ I donβt know. When one team loses one game in the last 53 or 54 Iβm not optimistic that they are going to lose four or five in 10 or 11 games because they are incredibly strong.β
If City are to catch Liverpool they would welcome a favour from Leicester, who host the Reds on Boxing Day.

23rd December 2019 at 10:16 pm #57369C67, I had that figure in my mind to mate, around 18.
The foundation behind that was from Pep’s second season when the blitz the league with 100 points. I distinctly remember 18-2-lost 1 and the others were just too far behind.
I think though that 10-12 points isn’t unreachable, but as Pep mentions, the form guide is in our favour.
I still wouldn’t put a firm yes on it at the mo – we’d have to wait and see how the next few days/weeks etc pan out.
Cheers

28th December 2019 at 7:01 am #57496As every match passes it becomes even more nailed on Nil. Its not over until its over ie. mathematically impossible to lose but the way it is going that could be mid March which would be outrageous. Wolves are the latest allies.

28th December 2019 at 7:37 pm #57523C67, I had just visited the League Table now mate and catching up with all of today’s action after finishing work.
I’m seeing Liverpool with 52 and Leicester with 42. Now that’s with Liverpool having 2 games in had. I’d be quite chuffed with that at this stage of the season, plus with Manchester City effectively out of sight.
Compared to last season, around this time, we had a sort of a blip in January and then we had back-to-back Everton and Manchester United away.
Looking back mate, it’s incredible how we put on a run and a sequence of wins and ending up as Runners Up hitting 97 points. Maybe behind the scenes, Jurgen Klopp has somehow harnessed that into the minds of the Players and so they have the mentality to not be complacent.
We win our next 2 home matches and get through January, I’ll have more of an inclination to feel the trophy is finally on it’s way to Anfield π

2nd January 2020 at 11:22 pm #57776Just back from the game, and another greta performance. So much control, so much patience…it’s almost as though the team decide how they are going to win.
I’ve not posted alot over Christmas, as I kind of feel as though it sounds as if I’m gloating to the fans of other clubs on here, but damn, we are so good. 50 years in April since my first ever Reds game, and I’m calling this Liverpool side the best I’ve ever had the pleasure to watch. The ’78 side and the ’87 side are the only two that can get near this one, but both of those sides had weaknesses in the team…this one doesn’t …and the competition is tougher today and yet look at our points total. 85 points out of the last 87 available – it’s just insane!

2nd January 2020 at 11:39 pm #57777Absolutely Hightown, but I think we have to mention City. They raised the bar to a phenomenal level and weβve had to reach perfection to overtake them. And perfection, weβve pretty much reached. Whilst it was good again tonight (and I think the BT commentator said we broke our record for number of completed passes tonight in a game!), the Leicester away game is still the standout game for me. It was like watching a computer on βexpert modeβ beating a lowly novice. Passing perfect, effective, devastating, quick and outstanding in all areas of the pitch. But Iβm still looking forward to Minamino playing!
874 – Liverpool completed 874 passes against Sheffield United this evening; their most in a Premier League game since Opta have this data recorded (since the 2003-04 season), with only Manchester City managing more in a game in this period (three times). Untouchable. pic.twitter.com/EnaMAJTuMF

3rd January 2020 at 12:00 am #57778Mikus – absolutely, mate. Man City have made us raise our game, and I’m far from ignoring them. They are a magnificent side, but currently we are that bit better than them, and 2 or 3 years ago I thought we would never catch them!
We’ve come a long way in the last 10 years from the days of Hodgson, Poulsen and Konchesky to having 4 or 5 players in our team who are the best in the world in their position (Allison, Trent, VVD, Robbo and Mane??). That should start a row on here!!

3rd January 2020 at 6:51 am #57782What strikes me at the moment is our game management. Yesterday we won when it seemed we could go up several gears if we wanted to. We didn’t, we conserved energy. Only games this season I felt we only really unleashed our potential was the City and Leicester games (the Leicester game possibly being in my opinion the best performance since we thrashed Forest five nil).
I’ve supported the team since the mid eighties and have always felt the Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge team of 88 was the best but this now supersedes it. The points tally is completely insane.
I’ve read many times on other forums about what games we can lose or draw and still win the league. I also still keep hearing dont rule City out as they can string a winning streak together easily. But if City win all their remaining games, and on current form that’s a huge if, Liverpool need to drop 17 points in 18 games. And as HH said, from a team who has won 85 out of the last 87. Wow. What a time to be a Liverpool supporter.

3rd January 2020 at 9:25 am #57785I thought that was the complete performance
Absolute perfection without getting out of 1st gear
This is the best liverpool
Team Iβve ever seen and Iβm supporting us since 84.It has everything. Gomez was brilliant again. Henderson mom for me
Threeps, I hear what you are saying but itβs still 18 games. Itβs 13 points and we have a game in hand
I donβt care what the numbers are mate. Iβm not going overboard at all yet
This was a block of 8 ganes since the international break and we won the lot
I donβt care about the fa cup now. Players need a rest . Injuries are building up
Our next block is spurs away, utd home, wolves away, West Ham away and Southampton home. Come out of them still 13 points clear then Iβll be very confident
I really believe we can do it but while there are so many games to go, Iβll never go overboard

3rd January 2020 at 6:43 pm #57799Some Great Posts and reads Gents. The way our team was made to work and reinforce discipline I thought spoke volumes. If anything a Statement made that we not going to drop our guard.
Compared to previous most recent Liverpool teams, this team is really bonded and they are like a family.
