An interesting article, threeps. The tactic doesn’t really work though, because invariably we don’t get to coast the last 15-20 minutes of a game, as we’re either chasing a game or desperately trying to keep the opposition out, like Saturday. The percentage of goals we’ve conceded in the last 15 minutes is frightening. Mind you, we’ve scored a fair few in the last few minutes as well!

4th December 2019 at 8:03 am #55400Iβm hoping we hit a bit of real form soon as I think these narrow wins might turn into draws
Not sure why Iβm not optimistic about tonight

4th December 2019 at 8:16 am #55401We have scored a number of late goals because we have had to and we have to keep up the tempo. We concede a large amount when we are coasting and saving energy. Four nil up against Norwich I can fully understand but at two nil it’s a very risky tactic. So far we have go away with it. I hope Klopp can fix this, save energy yes but with a little more control.

4th December 2019 at 8:36 am #55403Ah I am Ed. I just donβt really show it on here but Iβm no were near as negative as I was
Hightown will even agree with me about that lol!
For the first time ever, I really feel we have a huge chance of the league. Last year when 7 points clear, I said many a time we didnβt have the expierence to get over the line but last year run and cl win had breeded massive belief into this team
I will never write city off though
No
Way, for one second do I belief itβs done and dustedSo much football to play. Few bad resumes and the teams chasing are really in it

4th December 2019 at 8:40 am #55404Yeah, Ed, Sean is now sweetness and light and ‘all things are rosy’ compared to the way he was. I love the more upbeat Sean. Have to say though, I share his worries about tonight. It’s Everton’s Champions League final, and all the media headlines saying it’s the most one-sided derby ever will just spur Everton on. We have shown them too much respect over the last couple of years – they are a poor team, so we should just have a proper go at them

4th December 2019 at 11:23 am #55410Canβt quite work out whatβs happening at Everton. I spoke to an Evertonian who was at home game not long ago and he said they were very good and played really well. But then they have had a series of very poor results. Yet they donβt seem to have downed tools or anything. Donβt know if itβs down to injuries and not getting a consistent team out? Gbamin looks like heβs been a big loss for them though.
But certainly wouldnβt take anything for granted tonight.

5th December 2019 at 7:49 am #55500Thought the derby was a thoroughly enjoyable game, much to everyone’s surprise no doubt! I thought all 4 of the first half goals were superb. Has anyone ever seen Lovren hit a ball like that before? Or seen Origi finish with such composure? Shame about conceding 2 obviously.
What pleased me most was the fact the guys like Origi and Shaq can come in after little game time and still be 100% committed and do a good job. I hope Keita will get some time also in the next few games, Klopp hinted he was tempted to play him in some part yesterday and that he is in good shape now.
As for Everton it was crazy playing a high line against Mane who seemed to be in God-mode. Silva will surely go soon and a relegation battle seems very much on the cards.

5th December 2019 at 7:59 am #55501Ye really enjoyed that threeps mate. Absolutely crazy that everton wete defending that high up the pitch
The energy in that performance was a joy to watch. Best Iβve seen origi play. He scores important goals but his general play was excellent. Shaq aswell
Mane and Gino were exceptional.
Huge win and another huge game sat with players rested

5th December 2019 at 8:56 am #55505That seemed to me of a well worked ‘experiment’ as far as the Team Selection went.
I was happy to see Lallana and Origi at the top with Mane. It worked a treat.
obviously, the opposition we play comes into effect, but the changes brings encouragement as to how we can positively utilise our squad and cope with more than one Competition.

8th December 2019 at 9:24 am #55990I think its time for you lads to start relaxing and enjoying the ride to May and when you get there I’d like to see you celebrate with one of your classic Sean the Sailor posts which I used to have one hell of a good laugh at back in the day. Cheers.

8th December 2019 at 5:42 pm #56052C1967, with our recent history, I can assure you, none of us Liverpool fans will be enjoying anything until weβre 10 points clear with one game to go…

8th December 2019 at 8:15 pm #56059Mikus, I did note your post on the Match Thread and having listened to one of the Football Phone-Ins earlier, the Boxing Day clash at Leicester has dialled up it’s levels of attention.
The comparison in nature is Man City-Liverpool, but the Reality as it stands just merely shows an 8 point difference.
It’s nothing to suggest anything in the direction of ‘done and dusted’.
You’re right in what you say above. We’re likely to place the word CAUTION simply because of our history and not getting over the line for a very long time.

Not a chance. We’ve got Leicester away coming up. A loss there changes everything. I admit that I’m starting to truly believe now though but in the past that’s been such a deadly and harsh kind of vinear in front of a cold, hard reality.

10th December 2019 at 2:41 pm #56314Mak..2/3 draws would be the equivalent of two defeats and I think that maybe your biggest danger, not losing a match but making draws. At the same time providing you keep clear of injuries you should still be OK

10th December 2019 at 9:49 pm #56371I think the only disappointing news coming out of this is Lovren being injured – Matip already out, so could be struggling for centre-backs.
