In my mind with all the various mediums available for us to be able to express our thoughts and opinions, it often makes me wonder if we’re just in nature a nation of critics and/or just quick to highlight negatives first.
11-1-lost nothing and we’ve beaten Manchester City, Chelsea, Leicester, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Going into this game, I was expecting Liverpool and Manchester City to be neck-and-neck. I wonder what the NARRATIVE would have been then, especially from Sceptics.
I think as Humans and Supporters of our Team, being soaked or entrenched into it over the course of the season, we don’t always allow ourselves to take a Back-step just to gain some perspective.
I’ve been for decades, an example of one of the worse for when we’ve had to deal with Adversity.
It makes you think and realise how far we have come since 2010 for when Northampton Town dumped us out of the Cup At Anfield, and when we had Roy Hodgson as a Manager, plus Hicks and Gillette.
John W Henry SAVED US, RESCUED US. And I’ve criticised and have Ranted towards FSG for this that and the other. Whether or not justified, it is what it is and at the time, it may have been warranted, but it’s what we go through as Staunch Supporters Of Our Football Club. Of Course It Matters.
It’s Part Of Our Lives, Win, Lose, or Draw.

10th November 2019 at 10:47 pm #52463Mak, I truly get where you are coming from. Apart from Mav, maybe one or two, there’s an Anti-Liverpool ‘Seminar’ Deep down.
At times, or a lot of the time I don’t actually gain anything from this.
I think at the end of the Season maybe, sooner, I’ll Give this up.
Too much Anti Liverpool well disguised on the Main Forum. They are NOT Fair Minded Posters.

11th November 2019 at 8:07 pm #52608Nil…I do not know where this “anti Liverpool Seminar” is coming from, you will always get posters who would always deny to morrow is another day you must also remember, you generate a lot of this yourself. For my part, I enjoy the fact that we have another NWest team doing well, I am know you have a good Manager and he will build a good squad that should see you challenging for many seasons, but there will be others and here is the problem, fans get transfixed on there own team and quickly find out there are 4/5 other teams in the mix. My suggestion Nil is you appreciate the game more and become less tribal, I think you will enjoy football more then. As much as I love City I would not go to war for them and Mr Shanklys famous comment was totally incorrect, he did step the game up though all that time ago, as did SAF, Wenger now Klopp and Pep to day Respect to them all

11th November 2019 at 9:07 pm #52614Brian, I do genuinely enjoy the game, especially when the Football is played on a regular kick off time at 3pm on a Saturday Afternoon and listening to Radio 5 Live.
I’m not the best of persons admittedly once I reach the point of showing my emotions on something I don’t like to see, hear or read. I don’t channel it out in the best possible way, and it’s very easy to be entrenched.
The Stakes are high and I’ve waited more than one generation in not being able to win the League Championship. This is probably going to be our best opportunity, so I’m precious. I know there are more important things in Life. This is one of the genuine things I enjoy from Life.

11th November 2019 at 9:17 pm #52616AnonymousBrian, I definitely took the bait yesterday but we didnt start that nonsense yesterday. Could Inhave ignored it? Ya. Should I ? Ya too… but i could also just not bother logging in also. I dont like reading some of the bitter paranoid RUBBISH that a few were at yesterday. Sometimes I’ll laugh it off or whatever but it just pissed me off yesterday.
Im not a particularly tribal person with football or politics etc but there definitely is some anti liverpool stuff building on this site.
Not from yourself, of course and Nil.. Mav is grand, that was just a misunderstanding.

11th November 2019 at 11:03 pm #52620Mak…that is sad if you feel that. It is sad because the forum has good posters, some get carried away with events. I do not expect people to share my more pragmatic views of the game but I have lived through many eraβs of football including the war years but we are now all of us caught up in the modern structure of the game. In my view, for the worse. Posters like yourself are important to the forum to raise issues from facts view, which I know you do. I often think of the Stokes, Villa Forrest supporters, they are no longer in the top echelon and we hear little from them, a pity that. It then strikes me that all the moaning and whingeing are from fans of the top teams not appreciating what they have to day not what they had yesterday the games culture has to change and the fans need to improve. Just think..if fans behaved at matches there would be no need for Police at games a huge saveing for clubs over a season. My apologies for the drawn out response but I do not want to feel any club is undermined through a forum but I know it goes deeper than that with some….I will never understand that.

12th November 2019 at 1:02 am #52621AnonymousBrian, you’re attributing this to myself but that’s not the case. From here on, if you want, I will highlight the point of ignition, each time. That’s where you see who is letting their tribalistic thoughts get the better of them. We’re all a little biased but we literally have someone on the other page hoping the ref gets into a car accident after the game. Let’s not bullshit eachother because he didnt specify but that’s what he meant. To try and tell me otherwise to to think that I’m an idiot.
He started the crap too with the suggestions that once again the refs are on Liverpools side, or words to that effect. Moos then with the same nonsense and Chucky too.. these lads are consistently at it. It has feck all to do with me in that regard. I just had enough of it yesterday. I would love to enjoy my team at the top and you bet yoiur ass that I do now but by conduring up a conspiracy that the refs are handing the title to Liverpool, they are taking away from the very character of not only my team but the game.
it’s absolutely pathetic behaviour and the fact that nothing has been said to them is a strong indication that there is actually an anti-Liverpool thing going on this page now.
Maybe we should stick to our own thread most of the time., definitely for match threads anyway. If people can’t be trusted to watch a football match without spitting their dummy out and cursing the illuminatti when something doesn’t go there way, they can’t mix with others.

12th November 2019 at 6:16 am #52626I’ve got a few good mates that are Liverpool supporters, not tribal in any way and really pretty much praying for a title in the Premier League. I’m all for it just as I wanted them to beat Spurs in the Champions League for that supporter Dave Evans in New Zealand who was able to fight off the cancer long enough to witness that win. On the other side of the coin I’ve had some Liverpool supporters telling me that Chelsea have no history. Can’t work that one out unless they are talking about the 20th century but it still comes at the club from all angles. Other fans talking about Roman and the crooked money of his from Russia or City and their oil money. For me it is jealousy and a bit of banter and I just laugh it off. I do support any team that plays Manchester United and that all stems back from all their success under Sir however I do hate seeing United win. The thing is, these things are all best kept to one’s self. People just don’t. Rub of the green with refs. What goes around comes around. All clubs are affected by it one way or the other but it breaks even over a good period of time. I cannot condone what was said about the ref and a car accident. Outrageous behaviour from an adult person. Even in that ill fated Champions League debacle against Barcelona that thought never crossed my mind. Totally unacceptable. Liverpool are steaming ahead right now and some don’t like it. That’s their problem. Enjoy the ride and unless we can catch you then I hope you win it π

12th November 2019 at 7:49 am #52632I had my say aswell mak. Itβs time to move on mate. I said exactly the same as you in the match day thread

12th November 2019 at 7:55 am #52633Nil, itβs a great lead to have. We just really need to concentrate on ourselves now
This next block of games is an absolutely massive test of the squad
Be really interesting to see how we are fixed with injuries and points after sheff utd game on jan 2nd
The works club championship is big for me. Itβs a recognised trophy and we have never won it but it really could hamper us in the league
I think itβs vital we beat Napoli in our next cl game and finish top so we can rest players for Salzburg game

12th November 2019 at 10:32 am #52647Liverpools next 5 league games with CL in between:
23.11 Palace away
27.11 Napoli home
30.11 Brighton home
04.12 Everton home
07.12 Bournmouth away
10.12 RB Salzburg away
14.12 Watford homeThis brings us to the EPL game vs Villa and the Club World Cup. It’s a busy fixture list but not too difficult on paper. The two league games at home following the home CL game vs Napoli is nice.
Was going to put City’s next block or maybe even Leicester and Chelsea’s but to be honest I think are in a position where we just need to focus on our own results.

Your right. Letβs just focus on ourselves

12th November 2019 at 3:34 pm #52677Mak..there was no intention to attribute anything to you, maybe I did not word it right but I was trying to support your comments.and expand on it. In my opinion you are one of the best posters on the forum, my only dislike is the language at times, I am no prude, far from it, but there is a time and place for these things.
I have moved on from the game but for what it is worth1. Liverpool have no influence over referees
2. I think the Ref got decision making wrong, but that is my opinion, I accept it whatever decision is made and move on
3. Liverpool or any other team had nothing to do with the decision of the Refereeend of story

13th November 2019 at 2:04 am #52708AnonymousBrian, I was pretty unclear in that sentence. I wasn’t annoyed at what you said. It wasn’t meant to read in an accusatory tone but more as a correction. As for the language Ive used, you’re not wrong but I feel like some people can complain and if we correct them or tell them off then we’re called whinners. In actual fact, I’d have not said a damn word had people not whined in the first palce, so it shows that bias exists. The bias is maybe against me because some don’t like me, or it’s at our club because we’ve beaten everyone on here already this season.
The above part might read as inflammatory, it’s definitely not meant to but as a statement of fact. Some of these games were extremely close. One or two were won by a hair. I think this rubs people the wrong way.
But there are some on here who think that because our team have won these games, that they can say whatever they want to us as individuals and we should be happy about it because our team is top (looking at the windup artist steveo). I think someone warned me about him and I thought “what are you talking about, he’s a great poster”… well..
As for the language, I only partly apologize this time. I’m not delighted to be drawn to this level and we can look at why an event occured, not just impact area. I asked for moderation and didn’t get it. We were definitely goaded and efforts were made to chip away at a great win. Those efforts would usually fall flat on their faces but they had an impact that day, for me.
For a long time I felt that this place was working as a multi-club community and it’s a few recent events that have just left me feel let down about the whole thing. Maybe you all feel everything is fine but it’s lost some of it’s magic for me.
HH, Sean etc want to move past it and maybe they are right. I can definitely try. As much as I want to leave some people behind, there are some quality people still on here. Maybe that list gets shorter if our lead gets to 12 points though? I’m only half joking.

13th November 2019 at 3:09 pm #52778I liked your response Mak. Keep with the facts and not the emotion and as to language…you are better than that. We all go OTT at times . We all have to remember, when the Ref blows his whistle at full time, it is game over.
As to Sterling/Gomez…everybody suckered into press frenzy. The paper I picked up to day had 3/4 full pages of it!!! Is there no more news about football other than an event which must happen thousands of times all over the place. Now they are nit picking over another camera event…when will it all end? I have said before there will come a time when players will have pitch side lawyers….the game is losing its identity_____________________________

14th November 2019 at 9:33 pm #52874AnonymousThreeps, that kind of stamp could easily break or crack a metatarsal. I completely missed it at the time myself. I’d ask Adlab if the shirts were swapped, would he want a red card for it? Personally I’d like there to be something in between a yellow and a red. I think a 10 minute sin bin along with a yellow, if it;s a first yellow should be the ruling on some challenges, this one included. By the rule of law, that is a red card though. yet Adlab and Moos haven’t commented on it at all because it doesn’t suit their agenda. I would press further with it except that I want to put that game to bed.. but it was a stamp.
Brian, I can admittedly be very hot blooded, that’s my nature but in my opinion, I’m at least these days, rarely the instigator. I wasn’t the last day. The rubbish being talked by a few might be easier to ignore if it weren’t a regular thing. I mean, Sean is even losing his patience with some and he’s a pretty cool customer.
There’s a part of me that wants to put this all to bed but on the other hand, I don’t feel that anything has been dealt with, so the chance of a re-occurrence is high, or maybe even inevitable. It was definitely a lot easier to get on with people when Liverpool were not top, so it’s going to be a long season.

15th November 2019 at 12:51 pm #52933I did say (although still a week away) we could draw at Palace, but they’ve only registered so far 2 Home wins against Norwich and Villa – 2 Newly Promoted Teams.
Can’t see anything past a ‘routine’ 2 nil victory for us. I’m hoping for a draw when City play Chelsea. That would give us a 11 point ‘cushion’ over them.
