I don’t go too deep on ‘Rival’ Teams – wishing them well.
Look at The League Table: Do we want to Fall Behind?
This is our Best Chance to Finally land the League Championship, I don’t believe to be in anybody else Understanding outside Liverpool.
We’re the ones Living It Day To Day.
We’re Credit, Huge Credit To Ourselves Sticking by, Win Lose Draw.

Jesus, I never even considered it. Brilliant.

3rd November 2019 at 1:32 am #51701AnonymousMikus, I have to say. I have always loved your insight. Sometimes I read what you’re saying that think it’s how I’d love to have expressed my own feelings but I just couldn’t, so concisely. Then there are many things I never even thought of.
Klopp does have trust issues and I’m seriously worried about Gomez. He’s a passion project of my own, in a way… I just think he can be world class and I even then disappointed to have to say “can” because he was last season until injury but something is not right now if he isn’t able to start ahead of Lovren. I have a horrible feeling that we’ve seen the last of Gomez, or will very soon anyway. People so often say “I hope I’m wrong”, as a kind of offering. I fully mean those words though. I’ll make a bit of a guess that I don’t think Klopp has been impressed with his return. Maybe he thought he’d walk back into his place? If Matip hadn’t stepped up into a spell of world class play then sure… `but Gomez has had chances and she’s a shadow of his former self.
I worry about this guy, in equal measures to my worries of him leaving and becoming a world cl;ass CB somewhere else.

The difference is made in how that rival or near rival has achieved X or Y. People love underdogs but I love new progressive projects. I’m drawn to ambition, in terms of interest and I credit it because it’s always got a slight disadvantageous position to security. Football is a little like war, it’s a lot easier to defend the beaches, as it is to storm them. The best of the ones who take that harder road are called heroes.
Look at Chelsea. Transfer ban, new unknown manager. Yet they are the best team we’ve played this season, by a mile. They are an inspiration.
I mean how long has it been since they were dominant or we were the team in transition? Not having a go Nil but you’d have wanted Chelsea to look at us back then and think “they are going places”, right? Credit it where is due but love of the game too.

3rd November 2019 at 1:49 am #51703AnonymousI will leave ye with one remark that I don’t think a single person will agree with but this is my opinion.
If the next game took out the man city tie away regardless of who we played, of the 2, I’d play Man City and not Chelsea.

3rd November 2019 at 8:23 am #51712Beat City at Anfield and then we beat City on their ground whilst Liverpool win their game of that round and then start looking forward. Southampton gave them a run for their money so why not 🙂

3rd November 2019 at 8:53 am #51715Mak, totally agree about Mikus. Always very insightful posts
One thing concerns me and it’s the lack of clean sheets. We are actually defending ok. We don’t give many chances away and Alison has hardly had to make a save but we have still conceded the first goal in our last 3 games
It’s a slight moan as this ten really is the real deal and has huge balls for the fight
We can play better but I don’t think we are playing badly. Salah form is a concern and he just doesn’t turn up in away games this season
Absolutely huge result yday.

3rd November 2019 at 9:37 am #51717AnonymousIt’s definitely not a silly moan. Having the ability to grab late wins is not meant to be plan A but sometimes it seems like it is a plan. I sat there with 50-50 confidence/fear , as the game went into injury time. No way should I have had more than 10% confidence that we would score but everybody knows that Liverpool are relentless.

3rd November 2019 at 10:05 am #51718Thank you for the kind words chaps, though I just call things as I see them, as many others do well. I think we’ve all almost developed a sixth sense with our club over the years…

3rd November 2019 at 11:42 am #51733Next Sunday is the 6 Pointer. Win and we’d be 9 points clear. I’d be happy to take a draw. Last season, Pep was conservative in his approach. He really needs to go out with a game plan to try and win the game which will open it up nicely for us.

4th November 2019 at 11:16 am #51860AnonymousA part of me thinks a draw is enough but this is the Anfield fixture. We’ve got to beat them. Let’s tear into them and see who’s defence can take it.

4th November 2019 at 1:17 pm #51866Nil, after the next International break we’ve got them away. Imagine if we could somehow do a number on them as well as you lads beating them mate. In three weeks you could be 12 points clear.

4th November 2019 at 2:48 pm #51869What are people’s thoughts on us not signing Pulisic? I note at the time the reasons given were we were already strong in that department and had found Shaqiri at just £13 million to be a back up option. I know he’s been injured more recently but even so Klopp rarely uses him, presumably because his trust in the front 3 is absolute. But if we’re truly honest here the form of the front 3 has been somewhat inconsistent over the last 18 months. Whilst Salah can still pop a rabbit out a hat, he doesn’t half disappear in a lot of games particularly away from home as others have said. Firmino has generally been good but again can be poor at other times. Mane is probably the best of the 3 in terms of consistency – even if he can be guilty of missing a good chance, he never stops trying. But nevertheless I don’t think what helps them is that they effectively have *no* competition. We all know they are the first names on the team sheet in the vast majority of games.
So back to Pulisic – here is a guy that Klopp clearly liked and wanted, and therefore, you would think, would ultimately trust and play. Now whenever people mentioned during the transfer window that we needed another player or two – the general response was – yes but who, and people stressed how difficult it was to find the right player – yet there was a player there in plain sight that Klopp really liked and actually bid on in his first season at our club. Yes he was expensive, but so were others we bought, but it proved money well spent. And can anyone now really say Pulisic doesn’t look value for money after hitting the ground running in some style at Chelsea? You look at the difference an extra attacker like Sane made to City last season – he arguably made the difference. And with Keita still looking far from the player we were hoping for, and Ox’s injury history to still bear in mind, I don’t half think we’ve missed a huge opportunity here. Also, it’s certainly not inconceivable that one of our front 3 will leave at the end of the season possibly for a different challenge somewhere else. Pulisic could have prepared us for that hit right now…

4th November 2019 at 2:54 pm #51870And just to preempt the counter argument that Pulisic would not have wanted to play second fiddle to the front 3, it’s taken quite a few games for Pulisic to get into the Chelsea team. And you’re not telling me if he’d come to Liverpool and hit the ground running, Klopp wouldn’t have kept playing him? We have more than enough games to have been able to rotate them all and given them all games, whilst keeping them all on their toes.

4th November 2019 at 3:30 pm #51872Nil, last season Pep won the title by winning…he does not do conservative….Sunday..he will only have Plan A, it is only a question if the players get it right/wrong. It should be a great game, I expect Liverpool to come flying out of blocks and City trying to be be patient. I have no doubt we will create chances, just a matter if we take them. Same applies to Liverpool. I cannot see 0-0 I have a thought that Foden may start, the game will do him good for experience.

4th November 2019 at 5:14 pm #51873Well Mikus he wouldn’t come to Anfield to play second fiddle and he isn’t as good as our front 3 to dislodge them. If the argument about having enough games is true why hasn’t Klopp gone a bought someone to rotate with them? I get a feeling the squad status is always underestimated when fans talk about signings. The counter argument about hitting the ground running is void as he wouldn’t and didn’t come in the first place.
Regarding his season thus far, Pulisic has had a couple of good games in a row but it’s still too early to say if he’s been a success or not. Mount and Abraham have still had far more influence so far on Chelsea’s season.
We could do with extra support up front dont get me wrong, but it would be a young player with the potential not a 60m plus guy.
Regarding our front 3 it’s easy to dismiss Salah as he isn’t hitting the heights of 2 seasons ago. Mane is the main man now, but maybe he is getting so much space as Salah is occupying defenders so much? For the team the front 3 is working very well, if not hitting the individual highs of previous years.

4th November 2019 at 6:50 pm #51876But is there not something fragile about that front 3, particularly the amount of games some of them have played in the Copa America & African Nations cup over summer? As for us needing a young player with potential, we are the champions of Europe and one of the best teams around – in any case, there is a premium on very good young players now anyway – even Real Madrid now target younger players (Hazard being the exception over summer). So any young talent that is worth investing in is now going to cost a lot. I concede it’s early days with him, but he’s already scoring a variety of goals, and he does look very good. You have to be ruthless in this game, particularly with City around, and whilst things certainly look good at the moment, an injury or two could have a serious impact on us. There was a player there that Klopp really liked and we all know how selective he is, so it just does feel like a big opportunity missed for me, particularly if he really establishes himself – and it would potentially have saved us money in the future.
