Only caught the last 20 minutes as I forgot it was on but it looked like the pressing was back. Agree with Sean, Elliot looked good and certainly not out of place. Certainly not short of confidence! Heard he has gone straight to train with the first team rather than the u23/u18 so there must be something about him.

1st August 2019 at 8:12 am #44186Ye threeps, is he the cover we are looking for? 16 is very young. He just glides around and will only get better under klopp
Might be a bit to soon for the lad but he supposedly one of the most exciting up and coming players in Europe???
Bit calmer after yday. Mo and Keita looked sharp.

2nd August 2019 at 10:00 pm #44282Mav, always seem to hit the a fat curb mate whenever Liverpool reach this kind of point. I can only CRY, sadly π π
Liverpool are current European Cup Champions. Simply sign, a TOP QUALITY CENTRE-HALF-STRIKER ET AL.
UNLESS, FSG ARE FOUNDED OUT FOR WHAT THEY ARE?????
I WANT THAT TYPE OF SPENDING LIKE MANCHESTER UNITED AND MANCHESTER CITY. Forget so-called ethics. 29-30 YEARS AND NEAR MISSES. I MIGHT AS WELL DIE MYSELF.
WE SHOULD LAND THE LEAGUE TITLE OR TAKING MEASURES TO STRIVE TOWARDS IT.
Sadly at the moment, we’re not positively receiving anything.

2nd August 2019 at 10:04 pm #44283Nil you’re not making much sense. Who or what are you after and how would you integrate them? Or do you just want signings for the sake of signings?

3rd August 2019 at 2:09 am #44288Nil I donβt get the FSG reference, they have spent when Klopp wanted to & have spent big, hence us getting a close 2nd last season. IMO they have been excellent owners that have built the club into a very strong position. I donβt think the lack of buying in this window has anything to do with FSG whatsoever, I think itβs Klopp not wanting to buy. I donβt think we can expect to overtake c$ty without at least buying a good quality front player but it doesnβt look like we will but to say itβs any fault of FSG is wrong IMO.

3rd August 2019 at 5:06 pm #443233ps/Oz,
apologies, was out of sorts with my emotions yesterday – stressful work day and had my buttons pushed.
Oz, admittedly, I was looking for somebody to blame and me being paranoid in thinking the owners are being tight with their purse-strings.
I have fear all in all in the club regressing. We shouldn’t really drop out of the Top 4. I want us to be consistently fighting in there and strengthening is of an importance to me. We don’t have to splash 70 million for the sake of 70, we can be clever about it and buy somebody for a lot less and knowledge he’s going to bring in something different.
The camp since after our Epic Triumph, has been a bit disjointed in spirits and togetherness and we need to bring that back. Pre-season hasn’t been the best for us and we really need to make a statement tomorrow in netting in the community shield.
I just hope for all our sakes, resistance is less place on Klopp and he is backed by FSG for more future buys. Like it or not, we do need to be able to bring in additions, not for the sake of it, but making the squad stronger to be able to deliver quality from 60 games plus.

3rd August 2019 at 5:14 pm #44324Klopp wont just buy for the sake of buying, he and his team carefully pick their targets and will happily wait for them. Trust them, I think they’ve earned it. As for FSG they have massively invested in the club and any criticism and accusations of not supporting the manager are totally unfounded.
Klopp is building a team, it’s still young and will grow under his guidance. Anyone saying we will regress from last season because we haven’t spent shed loads on someone we probably wont need is simply wrong and showing Klopp and the team disrespect.
Nil, my advice is just relax. Watch the final or 2nd leg semi a few more times. Last season was great let’s see what the same players can do a year more experienced playing Klopps way.

3rd August 2019 at 5:44 pm #443253ps, I hope that’s the case mate.
I have just read about Shaq and Keita recovering from injury which is good news. I’m just bothered about the prospect of falling behind, but I hope we can basically replicate what we did last year and go that one better.
Cheers

3rd August 2019 at 5:59 pm #44326A Superb and effectively a Unique opportunity for the Club to fight for 7 trophies.
We can narrow the gap between us and United in being England’s most successful of clubs.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48969062
Have we got an ample squad with the capabilities to achieve it?

,why should you want harm because of football? And one more thing, the lads on here are spot on,there are not many areas where Liverpool needs improving._____________________________

3rd August 2019 at 6:30 pm #44328Mav, haha I can’t help being high-maintenance π π
Mate, on a little more serious note, I want the League Title, at least 1 anytime soon. We have the best squad for the first time in 30 years compared to all the other Liverpool squads, so my thinking has always been either a big strong signing or a marquee player that would just give us something a little extra.
I hope that will if not in the near future, then within the next 2/3 t’fer windows.
Cheers

3rd August 2019 at 6:34 pm #44329Nil-You dont want the spending of either Manchester clubs, you surely want the right players coming in,players that would fit into the system the best manager in the world wants to play, right? I replied to 9 on another thread,I would much, much, much rather have Wijnaldum,Milner,Mane and Salah, rather than our entire midfield and attack.I would have VVD over our entire defence.
We can narrow the gap between us and United in being Englandβs most successful of clubs. Mare,Liverpool have won 6[SIX] CL-who cares about domestic trophies…..

3rd August 2019 at 6:45 pm #44331Mav, what I’m trying to explain mate is that we’ve built and reached the point where we don’t have to drastically buy to address problem areas, albeit a Left-Back, but my whole thought process is that surely, the club can attract better quality players, and so there’s no harm in trying to be ambitious – that’s effectively all I’m asking for.
It was never to spend for the sake of spending but to be Superpower and Dominant.
The League for Liverpool growing up as a Supporter in the 80s was the ‘Holy Grail’ and it’s obviously been ages since we’ve won it, so that would naturally be on the Club and Supporters’ Radar assuming that’s what the Club are aspiring to.

4th August 2019 at 3:40 am #44338Threeps I donβt think we will regress from last season, however I do believe we will fall further behind c$ty if we donβt buy some quality, there is a difference. Iβve no doubt the youngsters we have will improve under Klopp but I donβt see that improvement being enough to overtake c$ty over a full EPL season. I might be wrong & I hope I am but once again I see cups as being our best chance of winning something & a tough battle with spurs for 2nd position.

9th August 2019 at 10:47 pm #44920Pardon the clichΓ© but why doesn’t Klopp regularly show evidence in thinking outside the box? I.e. Keita-Lallana-Shaqs?
We should have had at least 5 on the back of being 4-0 up and cruising.
If you want to try and maintain a level of engagement between 1st team and extended ’11’. then you have to be prepared to put those other guys on.
