Haha, I was trying to accommodate the attacking players 3ps π
I read elsewhere the idea of Keita Henderson and Fabinho which I would give the thumbs up to. I don’t believe collectively they would last all of 90 mins which is why for this game, we really need a strategy.

1st April 2023 at 4:10 pm #205733Klopp has always worked best with his teams with an underdog mentality. Be it at Mainz, later at Dortmund and when he started at Liverpool. Hence the collective strong mentality with pressing developed to beat teams you should have no right of beating. The problem is after our successes weβve lost that underdog mentality and there is an expectation now and the players statures have obviously grown too. So itβs harder to maintain that mentality with those players, exacerbated by little competition coming in to put pressure on them. Hence the players are cycling between playing well, then drifting back and not performing again until another mini crisis occurs. More players coming in the summer for the problem areas should obviously help, but we also need a load more competition for places too.

1st April 2023 at 5:14 pm #205737Mikus, there seems to be some truth in what you point out based on Klopp’s history with other teams he’s managed. I keep getting told about this ‘7th season’. What is it supposed to be?
What I see vividly is that we have not kept up with evolution. That meaning the importance of our squad through integration, development, growth and maturity.
We’ve been shown by Pep how to strip and 11 and rebuild whilst maintaining a fulcrum. Our Fulcrum at it’s best was Alisson, VVD, Gini, Fabinho, Mane.
Strengthening is important aspect of maintaining continuity of success, but rebuilding and formulating, plus flexible and adaptable to more than one formation is the key to driving success.

1st April 2023 at 10:03 pm #205761Weβre basically in the position now where an F1 team writes off the season and already starts working on next seasonβs car. I suspect theyβll be quite a lot of clearing out to do, even some of the bigger names that arent delivering. Klopp was already basically saying before the game he wasnβt sure which team would turn up today so he must be furious with some of these players deep down but obviously canβt do anything about it until the summer.

29th July 2023 at 8:16 am #207741Robbo wonβt play right back mate. I donβt think Trent will move to midfield. He will play as an inverted right full.
Wr badly need two midfielders now. Lavia is sll well and good but we need an expierenced defensive midfielder to replace fabhino/hendo
Itβs just bizarre. We should have being making subtle changes here and there to the midfield over the years but now we have 5 midfielders gone and night replace them with 4 new faces. Itβs just to many changes sll at once. Itβs takes players time to settle and adapt like robbo and fabhino did.
Bad start to the season and there be chaos. Huge changes never works. Liveroool after saurez went, spurs after bake and Chelsea last season

29th July 2023 at 11:31 am #207742Two points Sean.
– The club messed up the midfield investment over the last few years – there must have been big bucks for Tchouameni last season as we were reportedly close to getting him but he chose elsewhere – then the line I think was we only go for the “right player” and couldn’t find anyone else. Yet this season we’re suddenly finding midfielders everywhere?
– Reading about Klopp’s end time at Dortmund the comparisons are similar with the inconsistencies in performances and with the opposition teams starting to adapt to Dortmund’s way of playing. There were also tensions with the more senior players as there inevitably are under a manager you’ve played under for a long time.
So bearing these two things in mind, Klopp has really struggled to keep everything together with a relatively small unchanging squad. If you are to have a long term manager, then you need to be changing the players quite regularly to maintain freshness and harmony in the team. The alternative is you keep the players but change the manager regularly. What we’ve done is keep some players for far too long and then changed a load of them in almost one foul swoop. But that might not be a bad thing to offload quite a few senior players in terms of giving Klopp a blank canvas again and restart things, though patience will be needed. At the same time, I still worry Klopp is tired from the last few years. I really really don’t know what to expect this season. Bar the midfield, I think a lot could rest on how well Nunez does. Our flowing prolific attack is *the* key to us performing well and keeping the opposition at bay.

29th July 2023 at 2:00 pm #207744Fair comments mikuis but is NΓΊΓ±ez even going to start?
It sll just seems so messy. Itβs a season of transition and we have lost some real big players in the dressing room. Are the fans going to back Klopp through this season with so many changes if we are 8th in December
The defence is a huge problem . Never mind the midfield protecting it but in general. Poor defending set plays, terrible high line which the back 4 are out of sync far to much. We need a centre back and we need vvd to start playing again
I really worry for us this season

29th July 2023 at 4:24 pm #207745Nunez is good imo but needs managing. He needs to be playing in a more restricted position not running around all the time, keeping his energy until it matters.

29th July 2023 at 4:57 pm #207746It’s vivid that our strength as a club is the ability to strike deals when selling players and keeping discipline on players where contracts have expired.
The challenge however is then finding those players and signing them to reformulate what Klopp built which will go down in history ala Gini, Mane and Salah. Plus the development of Firmino.
In a recent times, we’ve appeared to be top heavy, but that’s diluted with injuries making us threadbare. Daily rumours circulating becomes tiresome, plus we have to fend off competition from others but that comes with the territory. Lavia probably would be one of those Klopp develops into someone special.

29th July 2023 at 4:59 pm #207747Sean, you’re right mate. The anxiety would be our early fixtures. The reason why we think that it’s because of the way we started last season. If we can get at least one midfielder signed and an experienced guy, that would feel a lot better.

29th July 2023 at 5:00 pm #207748Adlab, the recent 4-4 friendly Liverpool were involved in, Nunez does exactly that. He has improved I believe. I think it was a first-season-settling-syndrome.

29th July 2023 at 6:08 pm #207749Adlab, yes I very much agree with that, and with the signing of some more attacking midfielders to feed Nunez, there is hope that we adapt our play to him and he feels more comfortable and starts delivering.
I still maintain a flowing prolific attack is key to a Klopp side because it keeps the opposition back. Everytime we’ve had a bad spell, for me it can be put down to the attack either being in poor form or being disjointed. Had we still had ManΓ© last season, there’s no doubt in my mind we’d have got top 4 – he’d easily got us over 4 points more to surpass Newcastle and the season wouldn’t have been so disastrous.
As for the defence, I hear you Sean, though I do think a lot of our mistakes have been because the attack and midfield left them exposed. I think they were partly demoralised by what was happening in front of them.
We could potentially become a more robust side next season as opposed to relying on a front 3 to pretty much deliver most of our goals. We’ll just have to see who else comes in and how the season goes.

29th July 2023 at 6:16 pm #207751Ye mikuis but when the midfield is exposed the defence canβt do their job. Look at us defending set plays last season. vvd made more mistakes last season then the previous 4 seasons. I think our problems at the back are more the midfield in front of them

30th July 2023 at 12:24 pm #207758Gotta be chuffed with that. 4-0. People can argue Leicester now being a Championship side and depleted of players etc, but our players look hungry and effectively dominated the entire game.
Mac Allister is seems shoed in nicely. He’s the new Hendo. It looks like Diaz has dropped deep to orchestrate the midfield. I’m trying to figure out Szoboszlai; not seen much of him. There was a player I’ve not seen before who came on in the second half and played in defense. He is built. We need to still work on signing 2 more players, maybe 1. I think we play Bayern next in this Singapore tour.

30th July 2023 at 12:31 pm #207760Adlab, Nunez on the scoresheet again. I think he’s playing in a Haaland type of position, central.

4th September 2023 at 8:32 am #209304I’d have felt more anxious, even now based on the players we lost in the summer. They were characters and leaders. Miller definitely one of them.
Mac Allister and Szoboszlai have insert very well so far. Early days of course.
I feel maybe a blessing in the seniors leaving that the examples of Harvey Elliot, Joe Gomez, and Curtis Jones know they have to step it up.
Definitely praise for us π

18th September 2023 at 6:56 pm #209568Thoughts guys on our progress so far?
Personally feel impressed and grateful even if it’s early days. Mac Allister and Zobo generally have hit the ground running. Our ability to come back from behind; Bournemouth, Newcastle, Villa, and Wolves. It’s unusual, but in contrast to this time last season, our results obviously speak volumes.
15 months ago, we had a vast amount of players including Sadio Mane and we challenged for the Quadruple. So many players have left and Klopp has had to deal with Transition.
Lot of factors to take into account. Harder games away from home Re Brighton and Spurs. That will probably tell us where we are.
