Mikus, for what it’s worth, a big part of me feels the same. Sure I enjoyed the coverage on the Radio, of course our win and scoreline and watching us play in the sun, but on the same token, I feel exactly the same as you and therefore share your sentiments.
It makes me wonder going forward whether we should just sign a new Right-back and move Trent up Midfield? I reckon him and Curtis jones along with a new box-to-box beast with Fabinho with a 4-2-3-1 alternative formation.
I admittedly felt a little more resentful that City didn’t drop points in spite of being 2-0 down, but so many times now we have been relying on them to slip up. I really should avoid thinking like this, but when it comes to gameweek 38, inevitably one will reflect and look at where we shouldn’t have dropped points and Fulham was definitely one of those fixtures we should have won.

28th August 2022 at 1:35 pm #198308Quite so nil, it’s all good going on another run now but if we were to push City close again and fail, we can look back to previous games, like last season, where it just wasn’t good enough. I just get irked that because of beating Bournemouth 9-0 yesterday, we’re basically expected to now forget about what went before and praise the players again.

1st September 2022 at 9:19 am #198465Well, never seen that in the script. I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t hard to watch.
We need Konate and Matip back for sure. I do like Kostas a lot and he will develop and establish himself. Time to cut our ties though with Gomez; not happening at all.
Trent for me needs to be dropped too and can’t be immune to not being dropped; tired of sitting on the fence for these people; best RB in the world??? You gotta be kidding!
We’re shipping in goals we shouldn’t be shipping in and need to get back to clean sheets. We can’t do anything about those in Sky Blue. They look like they are going tor walk these league, but as per 2019 and last season, we can only hope to push them all the way. They’ll drop points, but so shall we and we almost did, at home again!
Let’s use this now as a springboard and go for it this Saturday – beat those blues and bag another 3 points!

2nd September 2022 at 9:32 am #198523Who would you drop TAA for nil? Milner? Ramsay who is still injured? Gomez who you want to cut from the team?
TAA is the best RB in the world for how liverpool play. He is off form but then so is Virgil but I never see people questioning his place in the team. Gomez whilst not being outstanding he has been our best defender so far.
I see Arthur Melo as a Thiago understudy/rotation due to his skill set. Maybe the hope is their future injuries will coincide with each others recoveries?

2nd September 2022 at 9:56 am #198526Three ps, I’d move Robertson to Right-back (unfortunately Milner’s getting on now and it’s showing more), and Kostas as left-back (think he has the potential).
My notion on Trent if truth be told is that he’s an excellent right-sided midfielder and fantastic with set pieces. I just don’t agree being told he’s the best right back or full back, not when you place somebody at international level and look down the years in the examples of Roberto Carlos, Paulo Maldini and Javier Zanetti and boy these guys could defend.
In my view, I think Trent at the very least could do with some competition.

2nd September 2022 at 10:05 am #198527Just had slight connection issues Three P’s, so unfortunately lost what I wrote on Melo earlier, but in short, my comment was on the back of an article with the nuance that they had already made their minds up on Melo before he’s even played for Liverpool.
Tiago can’t muster as many minutes and I think both will compliment each other and add steel and stability in the middle of the park. More Freedom for Harvey Elliot to support the attacking players, so there is positive scope on this move (in my eyes).
Cheers

2nd September 2022 at 10:20 am #198528Never seen Robertson play a full 90 at right back. Yes in matches he swaps full back due to being on that side for a set piece but never a full 90. Of course I’m sure they have looked at this in training but as he has never done it I think they decided against it.
Roberto Carlos wasn’t a great defender but fantastic going forward. Maldini was more of a cente back and a legendary one at that. Zanetti was class. But none of them were a full back and playmaker. That’s what we have with Trent and for the liverpool style he is absolutely integral.
The defensive unit as a whole hasn’t been good enough so far, not just one player.

9th September 2022 at 8:00 pm #198908Could we play 3-5-2 in future? That would fix our beloved Trent!!!!!

11th September 2022 at 12:47 pm #198933The problem is, this system /tactics had brought us huge success. The problem is, the players application in my view. Itβs just to easy to play againest us. Vvd has been dreadful. Itβs his worst spell as a lfc player. Fabhino had been poor.
Elliot has done well on the ball but heβs won 18% of his tackles and dribbled by 9 times. Heβs learning a new position and hes 19. He shouldnβt be stetting so many games but we have no choice. He is the least of our worries
Taa is bang out of form. Threeps, did you see his defending for one of the goals weβre he didnβt even run? What do you think is up there? Heβs either absolutely exhausted or it looked like he didnβt care
Melo is no were near fit. His injury record a concern aswell. Milner just canβt be sterling games. Iβve no doubt we will improve but taa is a real concern at the minute as it look he wasnβt even trying v Napoli

12th September 2022 at 7:10 pm #198972Possibly a blessing in disguise with Chelsea-Liverpool called off. Didn’t really want to play them, but then that’s another Premier League game for us that’s had to be now rearranged.
No PL game till the 1st October, which means from one point of view, our scheduling will ease and we can get CL back on track, plus players will be returning from injury.

10th October 2022 at 12:22 pm #199670We are capable of turning this around, I truly believe:
Weds 12th Oct 20:00 – Away Rangers UCL
Sun 16th Oct 16:30 – Home Man City PL
Weds 19th Oct 19:30 – Home West Ham PL
Sat 22nd Oct 12:30 – Away Nott’m Forest PL
Weds 26th Oct 20:00 – Away Ajax UCL
Sat 29th Oct 19:45 – Home Leeds Utd PLNeville can comment and discuss as he pleases. That’s his job. What we should recognize and accept is we were last season competing for all 4 Titles and nearly ended up winning them all, with just 4 matches competitively lost all season.
Mane is a massive loss. Our midfield is a concern to hold both the defense and supply the attack. Trent is a concern and Van Dijk needs a defensive partner playing regularly alongside him.
We can just bring new players in. We work with what we’ve got. Hopefully the Ox and Naby will soon return. Salah almost been a non-entity since his lucrative new contract means that Klopp at the helm needs to now be making bold decisions on player selection and tactics.
This means change so it’s not going to receive well on all quarters, but this is a phase and a test of how Liverpool bounce bank for this period of adversity. 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, which ever chosen must have back-to-basics and discipline most of all with resolute defending. We need to leave playing the highline because we are not employing it with the respect it deserves but instead too lazy and casual.
We are founded out by teams, not just one, but plenty. It is not acceptable whatever the hours put in training not to project that effort on match day. These are winnable fixtures ahead of us and Manchester City at Anfield is a Cup Final for us with the 12th man much needed.

10th October 2022 at 2:54 pm #199671Nil…you worry about it too much. I know Liverpool will be well up for the City match, I have no doubt about that. City have to loose at some point but I do hope we shape up this week end because we are still not fully up to speed. I expect only defensive changes from us. I do not think this game centres around Haaland either, too many good team players in a team system is what we have, this includes Haaland of course and a real battle royal between VD and EH should be worth watching in itself
I hope it is a good enjoyable game, both teams normally give entertainment and that is what I want and may best team win_____________________________

10th October 2022 at 4:02 pm #199673We could be really trashed by city brian. Itβs the same mistakes week in and week out. Conceding pathetic early goals
Nil, Neville has given us huge credit. He had said many times itβs astounding how Klopp has won what we have considering our net spend.
I think we can turn it around but it might be to late. Top 4 is a real challenge now.
Vvd and fabhino have been dreadful. We are far to easy to play againest. We have an aging midfield which criminally has not been rectified.
Iβm concerned now as we look exhausted and we canβt defend to save our lives

10th October 2022 at 5:20 pm #199675Spot on Sean. I saw some of this coming this season, but I didn’t think the decline would start this quickly. There are still glimpses and signs here and there of the way we used to play as Nine said. But in all areas of the pitch, bar the goalkeeper maybe, we have issues that have coalesced that are just too much for Klopp’s magic to overcome, though I think the midfield is at the root of them and that’s where my pre-season concerns always were. As I said on TT, I just don’t get why, after we were clearly willing to spend a bit on Tchouameni in the summer, we didn’t seem to pursue another midfielder…until we panicked at the last minute. And brought in Melo…who’s now injured for up to 3 months apparently. We’ve got to be better than that for a club of our stature.

10th October 2022 at 6:37 pm #199676Ye I agree mikuis. The whole melo signing made no sense. He was not fit and isi hurt prone. It was only going to end one way.
I just canβt get over the constant mistakes every week. Itβs really bad at the minute.

10th October 2022 at 9:51 pm #199677Sean…we are not far off the same problem, defensively, not having the same back 4 all season but fortunately scoring goals that is getting us through, Stones and Walker definitely out, Laporte played first game last week but the lad from Dortmund at CB is doing well.Ake will be patched up and sent out I think I think it should be a good game with vulnerabilities on both sides. You have a good record against us and you have Anfield. Really looking forward to it, unfortunately I will not see/hear most of it because I am taking two of my Granddaughters to watch City Ladies against Leicester and it kicks off just before the Anfield game.Firminho is the player I always fear playing City

10th October 2022 at 10:50 pm #199679Brian, wholeheartedly thank you for the kind words and appreciate the confidence.
Unfortunately all the areas highlighted of weakness are the genuine and fundamental reasons to Liverpool falling short. I really feel sorry for Jurgen Klopp. He can’t say a great deal. I think he needs better support and rallying from his number 2 Pep Lijnders.
A good majority of the players need to take ownership. It’s Essential above all we don’t lose sight that it’s a collective effort.
We are struggling and must graciously acknowledge we’re heading in a little bit of a decline and those occupying those positions in the League are in Merit due to their own performances and consistency.
