25th January 2022 at 8:01 am #193817Yeah we all win some and lose some Sean. The VAR’s are all humans and unfortunately humans do make mistakes.

28th January 2022 at 11:32 am #193841He certainly seems to tick our boxes…
Worth emphasising re #LFC interest in Luis Diaz that highlight reel is great, but he’s a lot more than that. At FCP gone from being impact player to essential starter, scorer of great goals to consistent goalscorer & workrate is excellent (that’s working under Conceição for you)

28th January 2022 at 1:25 pm #193844If he does sign mikuis …do you think it’s to replace Salah? Mane would move to the right etc
Longer Salah goes on less confident I am off him signing his contract ?

28th January 2022 at 4:07 pm #193846It’s an exciting signing if it happens nine mate.
I think Salah is not going to sign to be honest so now we have to start making plans for the future. I think Bobby might go in the summer aswell.
Let’s wait and see what happens.

That thought passed through my head too Sean – seems too good to be true to have all these players at the same time! Here’s hoping Salah will stay too.

28th January 2022 at 4:11 pm #193848I think it inevitably means that at least one of Bobby, Mo or Sadio won’t be there next season

28th January 2022 at 4:56 pm #193849Diaz is a very good player but with an overall cost of circa £50m I wouldn’t have said that was where Liverpool needed investment it does suggest as Hightown says that someone is destined to go possibly Firmino?

28th January 2022 at 6:08 pm #193850Ah Liverpool fans have been screaming out fir another forward nine mate as the front 3 are getting on especially Bobby. I think Bobby will go in the summer. You also have the Salah situation. We need to start thinking about the future. Mane only has 18 months left on his contract.
We need another at least another midfielder. Few midfielders getting on in age. We just. Red to get this signing over the line. I actually think 50m is a good price. He fits our mould. He’s fast, exciting and he works hard. I think Klopp can make him better but nothing is ever certain with a new signing. He will have to work hard to get into the team like robbo, fabhino etc all had to do.just it done as we k is how these things can go belly up at times

28th January 2022 at 6:48 pm #193852Bobby I think is in decline now but may be useful for another season but I guess it depends on how much his wages are. Mane been blowing hot and cold for some time but competition could just be what he needs. Have to see what happens in the summer, but exciting to have all these players until then anyway. It’s lifted January.

28th January 2022 at 8:48 pm #193854Sean, yeah I get the need to rejuvenate. and allegedly the Diaz transfer was planned for the Summer and had to be bought forward because of Spurs interest. I just thought the midfield was more of a priority and that seemed to be what a lot of Liverpool posters have been saying. Good signing though.Cheers 9’s

28th January 2022 at 9:44 pm #193856I do understand the thinking (Re Fellow Liverpool Faithful) thus from my morning post on the other thread. We been more used to sell-to-buy. I’d say it would really be the odd player and surplus to generate small funds. Karius being on our books still for example. Maybe Gomez would be sold. Maybe even Naby Keita with him being injury prone.
We’re led into the thought of needing to balance the books to abide by FSG Discipline, but perhaps there may well be planned funds/investment into squad that’s been agreed proactively to work on the squad layer by layer.
I could be wrong. Graciously, we will sadly experience the front 3 breaking up. In the 80s going into the 90s we held on to the dilute into the new generation and rebuild of Liverpool Teams. Ronnie Whelan for example still hanging about in the mid-90s 🙂

30th January 2022 at 11:19 am #193885It looks like we’re trying to offload Taki and Divi. Hope not but it would make sense in terms of clawing back money spent on Diaz. Why get rid of our depth forward players?

30th January 2022 at 11:48 am #193887Because both are not good enough nil mate. Mo and mane away yet taki can’t get a game.
Our set up doesn’t suit taki. I’d defo let him go. Origi needs games. Cult hero but won’t get to many games

30th January 2022 at 12:12 pm #193889Sean, I appreciate what you mean mate.
I was just thinking squad depth. Divi I’ve always held a soft spot for. Good guy and has scored some memorable goals for us.
Sean, I think there may be a move sought for Taki to go to Leeds. From a business POV, we selling at a good price and not just letting players go cheaply.
Do you think mate that FSG are playing hardball with Salah?

30th January 2022 at 12:46 pm #193891Diaz is an excellent signing and covers Liverpool for the 3 front players who only have 18 months on their contract.
“With Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah all out of contract in 18 months’ time, it looks smart business on several fronts.
Liverpool are understood to be keen to tie Salah in particular down to a new contract. The Egyptian has looked better than ever this season, though his reported £400,000-per-week salary demands are making owners FSG pause for thought.
Liverpool playing ‘hardball’ with Mo Salah
Now, according to the Mirror, Diaz’s potential arrival signals Liverpool will refuse to bow to Salah’s demands. In their words, the Mirror write Liverpool will ‘continue to play hardball with Mo Salah’.
Diaz is right-footed and operates primarily from the left flank. As such, he could conceivably be seen as the long-term successor to Sadio Mane.
As such, one school of thought suggests it may be Mane – not Salah – who is not retained beyond his current contract.”

30th January 2022 at 1:31 pm #193896Origi can be effective when played in the centre, up top. I think the same applies to Minamino but Origi has proved better overall. Maybe hold on to Origi but don’t see much point holding onto Minamino.

30th January 2022 at 1:31 pm #193897Nil ,Fulham have said they won’t let Carvalho go in January which is understandable given their objective of getting back into the PL. Currently Carvalho won’t sign a new contract at Fulham and if that remains the case if he doesn’t move in January he will move on a free transfer in the Summer.
