That’s it nil. Never expected the league and it’s a one off for me and won’t be repeated by us again for a while. We simply don’t have the resources to compete with city.
Go for the cc cup. Go for the cl and just get 2nd if possible

3rd January 2022 at 7:35 am #192829AnonymousAgree with both. I lament our lack of a title challenge only because we have the best manager that i think we’ll ever see, for decades. I won’t bang on about him not being backed as well as he should, I did that the other day.
If you lads think back, Klopp’s PL triumph was where we lost Bingo on here. He found the secure style to be a bit boring and you have to admit that it wasn’t as exciting as the previous and current times. We absolutely walked that PL and it’s only an opinion but I think we’d have broken the points record, absolutely NP, had the whole covid thing not happened./ We came back so flat.
That however isnt why Im writing this. It isnt to feel bad about anything but to remember that we bested the best team in the history of the game, for just one season. Ok, we also won the CL, which is probably the moist important tournament to be usually (excluding recent seasons).
Klopp is genuinely a genius and I find myself almost supporting him, as I do the team. I think when he goes, I’ll support that team as well. There is something truly special about him, a lot for us to learn from. He isn’t perfect of course and complains more than he should or shouts at the refs etc.. I know rival fans don’t like him but I genuinely admire how he’s managed to be so successful and yet be so emotive. Pretty rare, because those types are usually disregarded in one way or the other.
We NEED to have a big summer. Sean, you recently mentioned that the owners didnt really refresh the squad enough, it’s been a bit of a topic for us LFC fans over the last few years and we’re seeing the results of it now.
It’s just a shame. Klopp, is a unicorn, especially for Liverpool. They can’t be sitting on their hands and be happy that this legendary manager carry them to relative success. They have to match his desire to win, or he will leave. If he stays, he will not win the trophies that he deserves.
Klopp to us is a legend?
Compare him to all the other managers in the world who have won a league title and a CL trophy, with 1 club. There are apparently loads of Klopps out there but that isn’t at all true.
I wasn’t calling for him to leave, not in any serious way but I think maybe if summer comes and goes without real investment, Klopp should move onto a new project that can match his ambition.
I definitely don’t want to see this but i think that FSG need to know it.
I didnt intend on going down this line of discussion. if its a bit negative, apologies my friends.

3rd January 2022 at 9:37 am #192830I absolutely love kenny mak but Klopp is up there with him in my era.
He just fits this club so well. He gets the club, the city and the fans. He Speaks so well constantly. He is absolutely adored by the fans. Look how he rejuvenated anfield. It was dead for years.
We forget how far we have come. We had been in the cl once in 6 seasons before he came. We have had so many wonderful nights. My worry is when he is gone, this type of football is gone. It’s just great to watch. We very very rarely play badly. We are so brave that everything has to be perfect or we will be exposed
We are over achieving with our resources. City just have everything. It’s so difficult to compete with them. I remember the Hodgson times less then ten years ago. We need to enjoy these years. That’s why I don’t get to down after a loss. We have had so many shitty times. Let’s just enjoy the ride. Even if we don’t win another trophy, jurgen will go down in Liverpool history. For years , we kept hearing have we turned a corner but finally after 30 years we did turn that corner.
He look at what he has done with some of our players. The development of Robertson is just astounding. He’s one of a kind and I dread the day he leaves.

3rd January 2022 at 1:11 pm #192835It’s out there in the open as far as the domestic league goes. From now on, we can just focus on trying to win our own matches. See if we can put on a run together. Fixtures otherwise at this side of the half look favourable and that’s what we really needed.
We’ve come out of Christmas. Not too good at all to say the least having to play Spurs, Leicester and Chelsea all away. How is that? Unfortunately our game against Leeds which was at home was cancelled but in the same breath, that may have done us a favour.
If we are to consolidate at the end of the season whether with or without trophies, we need to look at where we are going with our current squad. We’d be kidding ourselves. It’s like trying to maintain a Vehicle and getting the same performance out of it year after year when it goes through the paces it does. That can’t be achieved unless along the way parts are looked after, serviced, replaced and checks subsequently carried out year after year.
We are in 2022. When was Sadio Mane signed? When wad James Milner signed? Oxlaid Chamberlain? Jordan Henderson?
Klopp inherited players like Dejan Lovren. We have come close to winning a Europa Cup Final and a League Cup Final prior to our Champions League Triumph. He achieved the almost impossible in 4 seasons, The Premier League Title. We were Covid hit. Last season somehow we found our way into qualifying for the Champions League for which we won EVERY single one of our qualifying matches.
We have sold and added layers, but for me we’re at a point now where potentially we’re looking to refreshing our squad where some players will stay and some will just be squad/impact players. Transfer windows become more tough in ‘stock availability’. We need to be open-minded and look at a number of different leagues to see where there are good players where we may not be required to spend a vast amount.
I must say even though our football is appealing to watch, at times, it’s gung-ho and very risky. I want some conservatism returned. Maybe take the 1-nil and pass the ball around instead of the high-line and basketball approach. I did notice there will truly be big shoes to fill after Klopp leaves. Pep Lijnders is a good guy but I don’t think he was ready for a full-blown number 1 spot. He missed Klopp. The job maybe available for Steven Gerrard in a couple of years who knows. Our pass-and-move philosophy and style will never be taken away, just the slight change here and there that would be of a significant difference and add value.
One good thing coming out of this awful Christmas is being in the semi-finals of the League Cup. I am looking forward personally to these 2 legs. We need to get through January with positive results. When Champions League returns we can focus on that too, plus the FA Cup. We can’t get fixated on the League when there are other trophies to play for and win. Every bit of Silverware is important.
Going forward there is a sense of optimism there. We just need to place faith and keep going.

9th January 2022 at 12:02 pm #193125Nine, just saw your post now mate (not checked these pages for the last few days).
I saw one of the Eps on catch up TV. The whole facet is well constructed considering it was 30 years ago. I think the gentleman that plays Anne’s partner in real life lost a relative in the tragedy. It just makes you think how advanced since that point of time the world has developed and what we take for granted on a daily basis.

9th January 2022 at 12:03 pm #193126There’s a rumour about us signing Luiz Dias (almost a done deal apparently).
He sounds like a beast of a player and an option we need in light of Afcon.

9th January 2022 at 12:08 pm #193127We really need to get back to winning ways, so I’m hoping for this Shrewsbury game we do pull out the stops.
Looked at what else we have pushing aside our semi-final; we play on Sundays for the next 2 weeks and both 2pm kick offs:
Brentford Home
Crystal Palace Away
winnable games and shouldn’t really be any excuses. We need be moving forward and coping positively with everything going on. I appreciate staff absence which is difficult, but if everyone can give that little bit extra and pull together, we can start bringing back a feel good factor and rebuild a momentum.

9th January 2022 at 4:13 pm #193158AnonymousThiago was a real break-through star in our midfield this season. I really hope the rumours aren’t true but ones like these usually turn out to be pretty correct, so I’m gutted.
I wonder how Elliott is getting on? He seemed to be ahead of schedule but I assume it’ll be a few more months.
For now I guess it’s Hendo, Fabs and Milner/Jones. I’m just not enthusiastic about that at all, even though it would still have 2 of our best 3. That 3rd player really locks it in, with Fabinho being the keystone.
But like, we knew we’d have injuries, we knew we’d lose Keita to them and/or AFCON. Whatever the club has been doing with him, it’s working but he isnt here now either way…
We can 100% kiss the PL goodbye anyway. TBH now Im worried about not getting 2nd.

9th January 2022 at 8:48 pm #193178Lol, Konate didn’t even deal with that cross. Jeez. Sometimes I throw in the towel.
Carra rightly mentioned playing the high-line all very well but we don’t properly cover each other. Basics. I dunno.
Anyhow we are through, which I’ll happily accept with both hands.

9th January 2022 at 10:27 pm #193182It seems to me an ultra disciplined strict rigid; no sign till sell to maintain accounts and books. Fenway invest elsewhere into another venture so I hear. Their business and their rights. Where does that leave Liverpool in context? What are we about?
Money in the eyes of Fenway than Trophies. What a farce really. No staff, building gets shut. Players earning weekly more than they deserve. They’re in a bubble in their own.
We as Supporters will say nothing and take a step back whilst Manchester City snap up al the glory.

9th January 2022 at 11:13 pm #193183Thiago Alcántara starting rehab tomorrow from a hip injury. Jurgen Klopp said the rumours about him being out for a lengthy period are wrong. “Neither March nor end of the season is in my mind.”

10th January 2022 at 12:57 am #193184We deserve happiness and optimism. Hope in something to look forward to. Klopp is exhausted. His Number 2 and 3 aren’t quite there because they themselves clearly in need of him and his inspire.
Where is Jordan Henderson? Van Dijk, James Milner, etc, Unite! Pull Together Please.
The Building was forced to close and no training. Saddens me. Shows we’re a small tight group that relies on low staff levels.
Press Conference. I never in my life of life seen this. I don’t know who’s running us at times. It seems empty and scary or something wrong. Jurgen struggles to smile. Players injured, covid-19 and all the rest of it.
Please Please Please.
