We just go with what we have. Hopefully we aren’t missing to many. All clubs are missing players though injury and covid so we just have to get on with it.
I really think we are in for a very tough January and I’m hoping Leicester isn’t the start of a slump

2nd January 2022 at 11:31 am #192662AnonymousWell Sean, there are only 2 teams int he PL who I genuinely “fear” on the day. We’re playing one of them today and as you said, we’ve got to motor on. I do think though that if we lose any other players to covid, we should suspend our fixtures. 4 backroom staff now that we’ve lost also.
I always want to watch us but at some stage it’s just no longer feasible. however that point hasn’t been reached yet, so let’s do what we can. I am tired af but very much looking forward to the match.

2nd January 2022 at 11:36 am #192663On FPL, an Exclamation Mark is showing against Salah’s name which means whoever’s already selected him I don’t think will gain any points. I’m pretty sure he’s unavailable now till next month which is a shame.

2nd January 2022 at 11:41 am #192664AnonymousNil, I would have bet money on him being available for this fixture but I too have seen it and he’s my captain so yay.
It’ll be passed to Son though, so Im not terribly upset, except that we’ll be without our best player against a team who is probably every bit as good as us.

2nd January 2022 at 11:43 am #192665Haven’t we faced some sort of a difficulty each season when it comes to this time of the year? The January ‘Conundrum’. The one time we pulled off wins was winning the World Club Championship which was an extra-ordinary achievement.
I think in that same season, we were knocked out of the League Cup. I may be wrong, but Klopp I think doesn’t place as much emphasis on the domestic cups because of the headache of games. We have a squad but not one able to cope and sustain being in multi-competitions. Something will be impacted and take it’s toll. This is why we spewed and split hairs over Brentford and Brighton because now we desperately need those points dropped. Later on we will be affected until that final third where everybody is almost fit and ready.

2nd January 2022 at 11:53 am #192668AnonymousWell Nil, the Pl is no longer as important as it was. We just aren’t going to win it. City have played all their difficult home games away, we are losing 3 players for AFCON and others to covid. admittedly yes, other teams are getting wr3ecked by covid also, except City, who have the squad for this kind of thing.
If we win today, will there be a little bit of me that still believes? Sure, that’s the football fan in me. If I werent a Liverpool fan though , things would be different.
today is a chance for Linders to lead though, which will be interesting. Fingers crossed that Kelleher can have a good game. He’s been in a few big events so far, so he’s got that experience. Let’s hope he takes another step forward.

2nd January 2022 at 12:47 pm #192674Even if we win our games in hand, we would be 6 points adrift. Better than the position we’re in and City have to be thwarted at some point. We lose today, we just have to take it on the chin.
Concentrate on the Cups. There is genuinely a wealth of optimism. Let’s try and win a domestic cup if the league is out of the question.

2nd January 2022 at 12:53 pm #192677At this moment in time, I am more worried about the Refereeing. Atrocious of late. VAR and Ref not working as a Team.

2nd January 2022 at 1:41 pm #192683Sean of course mate. There is scope for other trophies. I would love for us to win any of the other cups. They are trophies and all count in my books.

2nd January 2022 at 2:10 pm #192686AnonymousSean, i really hate to ever say Liverpool won’t win, for whatever stupid reason but I just wrote on the other page that we’ll lose today.
I’d love to be wrong and look, it’s a weird old game but…. I am preparing myself for disappointment.
No injuries and no suspensions would be nice.

2nd January 2022 at 2:12 pm #192687AnonymousNil, it’s hard to be optimist about LFC right now but I’m open to the idea.
Raise a glass to Kelleher and hope he can step up to this level, he’s going to be in for one hell of ma test, even if Werner isnt exactly prolific and Lukaku is out of the squad.
big games from Fabinho and Jota, Trent and of course the CBs could actually see us come away with something but ya.

2nd January 2022 at 2:14 pm #192688AnonymousLads, yes, I actually now agree that we should go for the LC, with everything that we’ve got.
I dont like it being a 2 legged semi but whatever. lets win the thing!

2nd January 2022 at 2:25 pm #192690Mak @ 14:12, I hear you mate. It’s been pretty depressing this xmas and new year lark on this occasion. Not nice having to play the same opposition twice and then face a rival team. The cups seem to be work better for us.
What ever will be will be. If we lose we lose.

2nd January 2022 at 2:49 pm #192691AnonymousAs the reality sets in that City will win the PL, we do have to remember that we have that CL experience or X-factor, you never know… I think we’ve got our work cut out for us and I dont believe we’ll win in but wouldnt that be something?
As you lads say though, I would genuinely like to see us win the LC. I have in previous years but other times I have kinda abandoned it also. . I think Klopp usually has other ideas but perhaps he’ll also be aware of the PL just not really being possible, this season.
It’s a shame for us but it’s a bigger shame for the PL in general. We had 2 very good seasons, we walked it only 1 time though and it’s just not good that the PL is a one horse race again. It’s a tragedy for the game but, there are still good projects I suppose. Always interesting to see teams develop and push above their pay grade.
West Ham and Villa are the teams I would be most interested in and not just because they beat both us and Chelsea.

2nd January 2022 at 4:00 pm #192706Anonymousseems its allison robertson and matip ya but you know what? we have great cover for 2 of those positions and look, Kelleher has to get a free pass. Us Irish lads (also being a Corkman), we want Kelleher to do well but we can’t expect too much from him… in comparison to the best keeper in the world.
I’ve seen the team. we have Salah and Mane, so Im absolutely over the moon. Its such a pleasant surprise, given what FPL was indicating and such.
Nil, I told you, I knew they could play today and fly out tomorrow!
COME ON LADS!
we definitely have a chance now.

2nd January 2022 at 6:53 pm #192814I was thinking about the other thread being saturated with our posts so thought I’ll keep comments here Liverpool related as best as possible.
Mak, truly mate, don’t be depressed. I’m actually cool in spite of 11 points. The one advantage over Chelsea is a game in hand so we have a chance to change that. Manchester City won’t win every single of their 18. They’ll be on the ropes.
We have other competitions to look forward too. This is 2022. There is optimism for us. Chin up mate.
