I know Im not the subject but I don’t have a problem with this particular incident. I only remarked just so it wouldnt be a notch against Nil, if he were to have a bad night. I think his post and your remark on it were fairly tame and pretty harmless. I know Threeps doesn’t agree but of course, it was only 1 element in a wider number of issues, which I do agree with him on to some extent.
Things got out of hand on the other thread alright. It’s something we have to we have to accept. As I said there, it isnt going to be helped by how tough it is at the top this season. We have 3 of the best 5 teams on the planet here. I nearly said 4 but Real seem to be back.
Things are going to get prickly, as we watch our teams desperately try to make sure that they get all 3 points, in a league where there are very few easy games.
I do think they need to alter this VAR rules, removing the clear and obvious element though. Just have it so the VAR ref can make a call and straight up over-rule the ref. There are way too man situations where the right call is not being made, because this rule is essentially over-riding a VAR good judgement.
In Ice Hockey, they have (or at least used to when I watched it as a kid) 3 refs on the ice. I think it was a case of them going by numbers. 2 said it went this way, 3rd said the other? too bad, play on, no feelings hurt, or authority compromised. It seems they are focusing on this element, with this stupid obvious and clear nonsense.

14th December 2021 at 3:41 pm #191384Cheers Mak. Agree with all of that although the bit re VAR I can’t see happening.
In retrospect I just felt I shouldn’t have said what I said to Nil and I thought Nil deserved an apology. Cheers 9’s

14th December 2021 at 10:14 pm #191422AnonymousSean, VAR is definitely improving, I was talking about one specific thing. I think it’s of benefit to the game now, I just think it can be further improved upon and the bodies will too.
Asa for covid, yes Sean, it’s only a matter of time. I said at the start that they should have been a covid pass only situation for fans. They went full retard on it and along with other failings and logistical problems, we’ve ended up here.
There is one potentially good thing coming, in that Omicron is so far seeming to be a lot less severe, whilst being way more transmissible. Viruses don’t tend to co-exist as well as you might think. One can actually push another out. So, we may see this variation push out the deadlier Delta variant. Im not informed enough to say how likely it is but Im hoping.
The issue then though is that with even more catching this one, the chance for another mutation will go through the roof. We were already getting them before, we’re now facing the possibility of seeing maybe 10 or more times the mutations from this next wave. 11% of new cases in Ireland are already Omicron. A few days ago, it was 20% for the UK.
That’s utterly insane. We’re all going to catch this one.
Stay smart and best of luck lads.
Nine, be extra careful and even though you may want to, please dont have family over for xmas. Your immune system wont be in good shape with the chemo, as you well know.
If you do have family over, only your closest and most cared for mate and even then, maybe be as smart about it as you can.

14th December 2021 at 11:05 pm #191427Nine, Apology Accepted mate. All water under the bridge and no harm done. I don’t really log on the forum when I’m at work and tend to work the afternoons up until late. I can some replies late on and will try and respond or acknowledge with a thumbs up.
Cheers

16th December 2021 at 9:56 pm #191578AnonymousGood result, even if the match was kinda poor (the 2nd half anyway). Trent MOTM was correct IMO. Not just for the screamer but that world class tackle might have also saved a goal. That’s something I’d expect from Van Dijk. I also saw Trent intercept really well in the first half.
Some of our lads didnt have the best of games but we were down 2 essential players. Fabinho is so incredibly important. I think this game might finally hammer that home for people who don’t rate him. We’re a different animal with him in the side but we had enough to deservedly win tonight and Chelsea dropped points to Everton. I did not see that coming, I’ll be honest.

16th December 2021 at 10:10 pm #191581My mate at work (also a Liverpool fan) told me about Van Dijk having Covid and the other guys etc. I though we were strong enough, but it only takes something special or one lapse in concentration to throw away points.
Absolutely delighted nailing this one down. We await to see if the Tottenham game will go ahead. I hope it does. Great to see Firmino and Keita back.
Had Radio commentary on tonight carrying over from my car radio, happy to hear Wizzard play after the final whistle – has me in the Christmas mood π π

16th December 2021 at 10:40 pm #191584If you look at The positions Trent takes io these days, itβs like heβs given the freedom to roam. Pops up in the number 6 and 8 positions. Some goal
Him and konate our best players this evening

16th December 2021 at 11:46 pm #191586Sean, that’s what I feel sometimes is missed that is needed. Somebody just to unleash one with conviction or what they call in Snooker, shot to nothing.
I must admit when Callum Wilson came on, I thought he might find a way to snatch an equalizer. Keita gave us reinforcements.
Good to see him back and he’s definitely one of those guys who try outside the box to find the net. Depth is looking good for us. Lots of players to choose from with confidence when fully fit.

17th December 2021 at 4:00 am #191587AnonymousSean, I could be wrong man but I feel he’s always had that. Well, at least for 4 years now. I think we can forget last season, where he was dreadful and the people supporting him were also dreadful but…
Trent has always been midfielder of sorts. I dont want to even try to pick out specific midfield positions, as I dont think it’s right when someone is roaming but he’s been given that role, because he has a lot of value in it.
You wont remember but when he was a kid, I went on about how his technique reminded me of Gerrard. The way he stepped up to strike the ball. Well, I felt that today he was playing golf at times and although I think I said earlier that Salah, Fabinho and Van Dijk are our most important players, I think Trent pushes them very hard for a place. On another day I might put him in that top 3. The 4 of them plus maybe Alisson, are why we challenge for trophies. I absolutely love some other players but they are the world class players, who Klopp gets every bit of their ability out of.
As things stand, Man City won’t stop winning but we are battle-hardened and they will know well that they’ve got to keep at it, or we’ll get them.
The chase is on.

17th December 2021 at 7:44 pm #191662To my knowledge Gents, the only time I saw a player converting position was Jamie Carragher. I’m sure under Roy Evans when he broke into the first team he started out as a Midfielder.
Is there scope and essentially a Liberty from Jurgen Klopp to place Trent in the middle of the park? I genuinely would be excited.
If we can forge a Right-back position i.e. Tsimikas or another player, it gives us another Dimension and Adaptation which I feel in the now game is more in Greater Need to be Multi-skilled/talented.
Cheers

17th December 2021 at 7:48 pm #191663Mak, I still cherish 18/19 against City. I don’t think no other team will finish Runners Up on 97 points. That ilk of challenge and fight would do me proud at the very least π

18th December 2021 at 2:51 pm #191692AnonymousAs Rob said on the other page, it’s a flip of a coin Sean. I really hope that none of the top 3’s matches are called off but the new strain is going to be the biggest wave yet, by far. I wonder how long the PL will last at all TBH mate.

19th December 2021 at 10:39 am #191733Game looks as though it’s going ahead. In all honesty, I’ve been looking forward to this one but in the same breath, no VVD and Fabinho means we’ll really have to roll up our sleeves. This is the one for us to try and get over the line ensuring all 3 points.
Compared to this time last year, we’re a lot healthier.
