Liverpool Going Forward

I was saying before that our defence will click but it’s that midfield that needs to sort itself out. We have so many injured there now that the available players aren’t up to the task at all. They couldn’t protect the back line to save their lives.

It isn’t often that I will genuinely dislike a player (not personally). As you know, I had my complaints about Hendo in the past. I think he’s a good player now but he was very poor today. However, the player that Im on about is not him. Everyone is entitled to an off day, so Hendo is off the hook .. but god damn, I just hate to see Ox ever play for us now. He was so fucking USELESS today and its the same nonsense with him every time. He just wants to have a pop. He hasn’t got what it takes to play for this club. Can we not bring a youngster in instead? He’s just a terrible player.

If that is too harsh for some people on here, you’ve got to understand that it frustrates me no end to see this guy on the teamsheet. It’s like being a man down.

Then there’s Jones who can look good going forward but he is just not good enough all round either (yet). I like Jones though and think he’ll be a player some day soon but he’s not there now. He just cant be starting when Ox is also in there. If we had Thiago back, I’d say it’s not so bad but that midfield that we had out there today was a mid-table level at best. It’s not good enough.

We dropped points today only because we didnt replace Gini.

He’s not having a good time at PSG, We should try and buy him back in January. I mean, why the F not!? He’d have to take a wage reduction but maybe we could offer him good terms this time.

We need him back.

Hendo has been excellent mate. He was let down by ox and Jones who were abysmal

We need to get more solid and manage games better. We weren’t at it today. I’ll take the draw and move in chum. It’s why I never get carried by results like last week.

I am starting to think more like you Sean. I dont think our midfield is good enough to win the PL. We need Thiago and Keita back and to stay fit.

I dont even know what happened to Keita, as I missed the first half. Hope it wasnt serious.

This season ya, I’ve no problems with Hendo. This game though (well the half i saw), I think he was poor. They all were. Maybe he was trying to cover for the other 2 but ya.. It just wasnt working at all. Not singling him out though. As I said he gets a pass cause he has been good for us this season bar this and I think 1 other game. As I said thats fine. This isnt an anti hendo rant 😛

I think Jones has a future but he needs to have a proper team around him, cause he isnt the complete player yet. We really needed Gini there today and there;s no getting around it.

I really think it would be smart to just buy him back from PSG. Bite the bullet, admit that they were wrong. Pay the man a good wage and challenge for the PL.

Ya Sean, last week didnt make me think “PL in the bag!”. Utd were so awful. Brighton are a damn fine team now though, if I werent a Liverpool fan, I’d have been going for them today cause they took the game to us.

Mak there were multiple games last season when Gini was captain and he’d go missing letting teams slice through us at will. He was terrible for 2/3s of last season at a time the team needed it’s seniors players to step up. He didn’t, he went and hid as best he could. He has never been one to dominate a game or stand up when everything around him is falling apart.

Ox wasn’t great and probably isn’t good enough but he wasn’t the reason we drew. Jones was in my opinion the worst player on the pitch but I would blame him either. This is an error of Klopp’s game management, he should of seen the Henderson needed more help and dropped Jones back. This is the one area Klopp does have a weakness.

Mak @ 7:45, completely with you. We need a measured implementation.

Thought we were naive and perhaps hoping for another Salah special to bail us, but that would have papered the problem.

Ball Retention and supporting our defenders. Keita had Milner supporting him. You need 2 persons; Henderson can do it, but for 90 minutes. We’re now starting to see what Gini left behind. To be fair, we had him for effectively 5 years.

Tiago does really well tracking back. Good engine, discipline and team ethic. We’re struggling with injuries.

I’m personally not too down about it. E.g. we could have lost last Sunday then win this game. Brighton are more than a decent team under Potter and have made on the whole a positive start.

Hopefully, we get Tiago back soon and other players from injuries.

Klopp said it felt like a defeat today and as good as Liverpool are going forwards there’s a certain fragility about them defensively at times that’s something they are going have to fix going forwards.

Problem is lads this is going on all season. Palsve should have st least scored twice. I think we have totally dominated two games which was watford and Leeds away. How many times did BRighton get between the lines today? Was that simply because fabhino wasn’t playing?

We concede at least one/two absolutely golden chances a game with the high line and Alison has been excellent this season. He’s saved about 6-8 one on ones after teams have got through

We were badly out of Sync today. Robbo was in no mans land for the 2nd. We just don’t look right or solid enough at the back or in midfield to win the league. 3 times we have let two goal leads slip. It really reminds of jurgen s 1st few seasons.

I loved winji . Really did but I don’t think we miss him as threeps has said.

Milner has been fantastic the last few games and I think we missed him today as Jones was in his position

Nine, you don’t win leagues with how many chances we concede. It’s harsh and it is a moan as in general we have been really good at times this season. I’m enjoying watching us play. Today 2nd was the worst of the season and hopefully with a few played back, we get a more settled midfield as it’s chopping and changing to much

Gini maybe didn’t have the best of season’s last year. But not replacing him was unwise. And as great a servant Milner has been, we shouldn’t also be so dependent on a 35 year old veteran in midfield.

Mikus…City have a similar problem….we are managing Fernandiho’s time on the pitch, a great reader of the game but similar age to Milner. Both hard to replace.

Mikuis I said we needed another midfielder in the summer as there was absolutely no doubt players like thisgo, fabhino, keita, Hendo etc will miss chunks of the season like they always do. Today we had the last 3 experienced midfielders left to choose from. It was absolutely inevitable we would be in this position considering we have midfielders who historically every season, miss a good few weeks.

Never said anything about that Sean.

I just said as good as Liverpool are going forwards there’s a certain fragility about them defensively, evidence of that is that they’ve conceded a 2 goal lead in two of their last 4 matches. Just my opinion buddie no worries if you don’t agree.

Liverpool still remain a major contender for the title imo as generally they have the ability to outscore most thanks to their massive offensive capabilities.

You’d have thought what with the debacle of the defensive injuries season, the club would have ensured a similar problem didn’t occur in midfield, particularly as you say with several of them usually missing chunks of the season.

I think it’s the wide areas where the balls are threaded. Our full-backs need back-up. Tariq Lamptey came on and found himself in a lot of space advanced. Tracking back. Need of good fitness, strength and reader of the game. Perhaps going compact.

We’re a little over ourselves in the highline and opposition will try and find a way of exposing that trend if a regular pattern.
