Just pretending to be angry at that one Nil π
“I do sense he might be getting a bit frustrated with FSG though.”
That’s the thing about Klopp, he’ll say all the right things if asked but there’s no way he’s happy with the level of support that he’s received over the last few seasons. We won the PL and immediately switched down a few gears. Maybe Klopp shouldn’t have signed an extension that time. FSG are taking him for granted and there are 2 things that worry me about us, when combined.
1) FSG are a sell to buy owners.
2) The transfer value of our team is PLUMMETING, due to age.I’ve brought this up before but it really is worrying when you combine the situation with the philosophy. Transfer value and ability on the pitch don’t mean the same thing of course. We could get another title or 2 out of the core of this team but other clubs only pay big money for players who have a good few years at the top left, rare exceptions aside.
You can’t be at the top forever and you wouldnt want to be either, because it’d be boring but we may be facing the situation where we only get 1 title out of this era and you’d have to say that we only had to keep the squad refreshed/maintained, in order to give ourselves a much better chance of getting more but FSG have let us down here. I’m not going to start saying anything too negative about them now, that’s it. They are responsible for bringing us Klopp in the first place and for reinvesting the Coutinho money, along with other sales. We’d not have won any title without that ambition, I just wish they continued to show it. Seems like they thought 1 CL and PL was enough to create whatever growth or commercial opportunities they needed…
Anyway, this probably sounds very moany, not meant to be. I still think we’ve a great chance of winning the PL this season. I am one of the few it seems. Our chances could be a lot higher, if we had signed a midfielder or just didnt let Wijnaldum go. I guess the lesson there is to look at the other PL/CL champion in a contract stare-down, and not make the same mistake.

11th October 2021 at 7:52 am #186387Iβm not sure I agree lads. If klopp really wasnβt happy with fsg he would leave. Heβs a very strong character and takes no shit from anyone. He praised them in the recent unvaiming off the start of the anfield road construction
They have made no false promises to him. He was told all money made from sakes would be put back into the team and thatβs always being the case
Heβs always worked with constraints like this. He could have went to utd and had all the money in the works but didnβt.
Itβs a tough one but already we can see our squad is being pushed to the limit.

11th October 2021 at 10:20 am #186416Sean, tbh I think Mak has summarised the issues facing Liverpool very well but they’re not insurmountable and even without investment in the squad Liverpool imo will continue to compete for trophies over this season and next season.
The Coutinho situation though was a one off and is unlikely to be repeated again for all sorts of reasons.
Also over the next 2/3 seasons Newcastle will become a significant player which threatens not only all the Club’s currently in the top 4 but those with designs on being a top 4 Club too.

14th October 2021 at 5:01 pm #186508I reckon that team will be too strong for Watford Sean even with a bit of new Manager bounce. I heard Jota would be fit too?

14th October 2021 at 7:24 pm #186511If that is the team Sean, you are far too strong for Watford, even with a new Manager, cannot see anything but a comfortable win.

14th October 2021 at 10:24 pm #186514Sean @ 3:51, my mate at work was saying the same mate.
I think Alisson and Fabinho will be tired and the early kick off to factor in.
Watford will be up for it and Ranieri will try and galvanize them.
We need to make sure we don’t leak goals.

15th October 2021 at 2:23 pm #186526AnonymousSean, I’m happy enough to play someone like Watford, without Alisson and Fabinho. I;m not saying that I am assuming we’ll win or anything, Im just glad that it’s not coming against one of the top sides, as I’d seriously fear for us in that scenario.
I know a few of the LFC lads from here and TT don’t really rate Fabinho but I think he’s one of our most important players. Then Alisson, the unsung MOTM in almost half our games so far…
I’ll have my fingers crossed for Kelleher, who has a lot of talent but is still very young, although he has a little experience now to back him up. Of course, that was mostly without fans.
If we have a problem, it’ll be in midfield. Which Jones turns up? The problem with youthful talent is inconsistency. He can fade into the background a bit, or can get an assist or 2 (or 3!).
I think I’d go with Jones – Hendo – Keita, even though I was about to say that I wonder if it’ll be Jones/keita but I’ve changed my mind because I think Milner coming on to shore things up is the smart move.
Screw it. I’d go with Jones, Hendo, Firmino and play Jota through the middle up top.

15th October 2021 at 2:31 pm #186527“Jurgen Klopp has criticised the Football Association after Curtis Jones suffered an injury on international duty that has left the Liverpool boss facing a midfield selection headache.
Jones has been ruled out of Saturday’s Premier League trip to Watford with a muscle problem sustained while with England under-21s.”
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Liverpool will be without Fabinho and Alisson Becker for the Premier League visit to Watford after the decision was taken to fly the duo to Spain.
Difficult days for all Managers.

15th October 2021 at 8:00 pm #186538AnonymousHis creativity and quick thinking is what I first noticed in him, oddly. It was weird seeing a DM with such an eye for a pass. He can’t do it all though and when the others arent carrying their weight, he gets snowed under.
I had forgotten anything about Jones being injured, if I’m honest. With the internationals, I kinda lost interest over the past 2 weeks. Thank Fowler it’s back though.
I was about to say that I’m worried that Milner might not last the 90 but he’ll probably run more than anyone else on the pitch. Over the years, I’ve clipped people for writing him off for being too old but maybe it’s time to remind myself that Milner might still be up to the task. His days of covering the full back position should be over but in central midfield, he should fair better.

Nil, I don’t think FSG will offer Salah Β£500k pw maybe Β£300k but they won’t go as high as Β£500k pw imo.
