You know, I was thinking just the other day that Salah is playing like a man who thinks he can get the Ballon Dor this season, and Luis Garcia has said pretty much the same thing there on Sky.
You’ve got to have an incredibly special season to be nominated for that prize but I think he’s got it in him.

So, there’s a lot of talk from Sky and Talksport etc about Salah’s apparent demands for 400k/week.
Let’s pretend it’s true, or close tot he truth. What do you lads think it’s worth to keep him and also, what do you think can be done to then limit the effect on the pay structure?
Maybe the club have had this in mind when they made up the other contracts, and the lads have low percentage match clauses etc. FSG must have known what Salah’s agent wanted a long time ago.
My take on this is that although we have a team of superstars, Salah and Van Dijk are truly special and should be exceptions. I’m not saying “everyone else is replaceable!!” , Fabinho and Alisson are also insanely important. When it comes to our wage structure though, those lads should be some bit ahead of the rest.
That’s my view anyway and to answer my own question, I think we should do whatever it takes to get Salah happy and signed up. He’s irreplaceable and we should just give him a contract until his legs are gone. Whatever he needs to stay and be happy. Of course, this demand could be him basically saying he wants to go. You know, ask for something they cant accept and then use that as an excuse to leave.
All hypothetical but what else are we going to talk about, Crystal Palace? π

Ya lads, it might not have been entirely pretty with some of our defending and Thiago getting injured but we got the 3 points. Obviously now the most important thing now is that Thiago only took a bit of a knock and will be good to go very soon again. He’s just super important to us now, with Gini gone and Elliott out. Jones kinda showed us why Elliott was starting ahead of him too, so Im not too wild about the step-down in quality… and let’s not even mention Ox.
We’re really not that far from having a weak starting midfield, now. Elliott included was bare minimum for me, so if Im nervous about anything this season, this is it and I think that FSG have got to address this in January. They took a risk, it’s already on it’s way towards failure. Get something sorted. I mean, we could have loaned that Saul character, who can’t even get a game for Chelsea but we chose not to. Maybe that was a footballing decision, maybe it was a mistake.
On the bright side, we’ve got what I think is the best back 5 in the PL, with arguably the best front 3 also. Some teams would have something to say about that and granted, there are some other cracking teams out there. So fart, so very good though. The games can’t come quick enough.

Yeah Sean, my mate had a stream on his phone. The first half was difficult in really finding space and carving any real goal scoring opportunities. But we grew gradually and I think this is what it is with us.
We might not instantly hit 5th gear and blow teams away, but we gradually find a way which to me is a sign of the champions.
We were Champions from last year until all the terrible things happened so maybe, Klopp’s tried to instill that mentality into the players.
Fabinho has been tremendous. Salah stretching at the far post as he does, Mane finding his shooting boots and Keita finally being the player that we bought him for.

I am not going to get overly excited about Keita. Im sick ATM, so am struggling to concentrate as much as I’d like but.. I don’t remember him doing much of anything else yesterday. I will reserve some small hope for him though, until he gets injured.
To win when you’re not playing your best is a great fall-back alright, that Champions tend to have. We’re quick to think of a team as the outfield players and any good efforts on keepers to be “should have scored etc” but when things aren’t going so well ahead of him, it’s incredibly important to have a world class keeper in there to stop the opposition from gaining a foothold in the match.

Thiago now out for Saturday and will probs miss the city game. Heβs a massive loss as heβs been excellent since the back end of last season. We lost control when he went off sat. Iβve really enjoyed watching him play

We’ve got 5 in total from out injury list. Real shame about Tiago. He’s a very focused player and a doer. He likes to make things happen and he goes out his way to defend too.
Man City incidentally have 7 on their list and United have 5 while Chelsea just have 2.
We have to utilize our squad. EFL Cup tomorrow night and I can see more of a ‘second string’ outfit.
Hopefully this time round, we can get further and even try and win it.
