Nine, they don’t affect everyone though. The other clubs that they do affect, are getting away with minimal issues.
I will be praying for the lads to “get injured” and then miraculously recover. otherwise it’s putting our entire season at risk, for a tournament that brazil will definitely qualify for.

18th August 2021 at 6:12 am #182928Mak, I appreciate it’s our core players that would be at in absence. I don’t particularly like all this myself. In fact in all honesty, it angers me because we can’t get a foothold of the situation legally through our own football authorities.
I thought Club was priority.
However, I wasn’t confident when we faced United just a few months back and look how the result turned out to be?
Anyhow, me personally don’t really want to get into concern and in a negative mindset so soon when the season’s barely kicked off. Bummer I know, but what can we do…..

18th August 2021 at 8:03 am #182932Mak, this goes much deeper than just the Brazil players and effects all Clubs with Brazilian players in the Brazil squad City would lose both Jesus and Ederson for instance one player less than Liverpool.
But there are numerous countries on the UK Governments “Red” list of countries which requires 10 days quaratiening on re-entering the UK including a number of South American countries and a number of African countries which would have a broad impact on Clubs across Europe as well as in the PL. The UK government refused to give the British and Irish Lions any leeway when they returned from South Africa on the 10 day quaratiening rule.
Obviously things could change between now and when the World Cup qualifiers are due to be played for instance Brazil as unlikely as it currently seems could come off the Red list but I can’t see claiming players are injured to stop them traveling to these games working it might work with one player but claiming multiple players are injured wouldn’t be allowed and then playing them in the next League game wouldn’t be allowed either imo.
Outside of the above there are three weeks of the AFCON to contend with in Jan/Feb 2022 too which with build up to the competition will effect all Clubs with African players over a number of weeks and if the quarienting rules remain in place then as well they might African players could be lost to Clubs for several weeks.

22nd August 2021 at 3:15 am #183163AnonymousIt’s crazy that its been over 3 days since there was a post in the Liverpool thread. The club doing things quietly, with regards to the transfer market has not only taken us out of other clubs fans and media minds but it seems that we’re all just sitting here without anything to say either. We are coasting really nicely under the radar. It’s a performance like today though that only reaffirms what I’ve recently been saying.
I think I most recently said it to Nil that he can calm his mind a bit and watch us rise up to surprise everyone else. That our quality will come back this season. It’s not just red tinted glasses, our form came back to a much higher level when the chips were down, towards the end of last season.
not sure if others will disagree with me here but I saw glimpses from this game of a Liverpool capable of playing to the level where we won the PL. So far it’s just a glimpse and we’ve got to start playing to that level on a consistent basis, which is no joke of an ask. it’s there though, definitely.
trying to go from memory here isn’t easy for me but what impressed me was the tempo of our play. We were able to step up the gears really smoothly. Our forward passing was pretty incisive. Not bad against Burnley, although they were giving us more space than usual and to their credit, they actually looked good in the first half. I have no credit for them in the 2nd half because that’s where they committed the majority of their usual rough-housing and for the ref to not book any of them is criminal. he had a very good game besides this aspect though.
Hendo looked sharp. that shift of the feet and ball onto the right (early on in the game), was delightful. i think that was the moment where I believed we’d win. The defence was pretty good and Allison looks so much more comfortable with top quality CB’s ahead of him. The commentators made a note of VVD constantly telling people to get forward. That’s something we missed last season.
Even though my FPL took a hammering for switching from Man to Salah in GW1->2, I dont care. Delighted for mane, who really came to life in the 2nd half. I feel that he just needs to get a nice goal here or there, for his confidence. Really important, heading into Chelsea.
As for Chelsea, I can’t wait to play them. It’ll be an early yet very real acid test for this theory that we’re still capable of 19/20. Chelsea have come on leaps and bounds and will challenge for the PL this season.
there is a problem with Fabinho not being there of course… I feel with Chelsea’s array of talent that we’ll kinda need him but he’s got more important things to deal with right now. Thiago, VVD and Hendo all have more minutes in thme now though and to a point, so does Tsimikas, who might yet start… How ready will Robbo really be? Silly question perhaps, it’s Robertson but, I wouldnt be upset if we had to rely on Tsimikas now.
Anyway, Im so pleased with the 2 games we’ve gotten out of the way and cant wait for this match.

22nd August 2021 at 11:05 am #183177I’ve yet to see yesterday’s highlights – still! 😀
I had extended family over yesterday for the first time in god know how many months. Wasn’t yesterday our first proper match at Anfield in front of mass crowds?
Reengagement of what we’ve been used and was taken away takes time to come to terms and digest. Mak, last season in terms of our home form was freakish with no home fans. We had a compilation of injuries and effectively poor decision-making from Klopp but I don’t believe we would have lost successive home games in the way we did creating new history.
We are now trying to rebuild that fortress. The Keeper is trying harder to keep a clean sheet and in doing sets a precedent. Burnley no easy opposition. Visiting teams irrespective of their stature and quality will smell an opportunity if we allow them too much of a welcome and effectively gain a foothold.
Back to basics taking each game as it comes using our experience and our commitment, application and quality.

22nd August 2021 at 1:07 pm #183184Seen the highlights. One or two instances where Burnley had a sniff, but one was ruled offside. Kostas generally is good going forward, but just needs to be careful in not getting caught out.
I didn’t really see anything wrong with Salah’s goal and I thought the lines were widened and decisions were relaxed to benefit the forward.
Good 3 points. Fans will take time to digest the aura of coming back and everything else – pretty raw and emotional not being able to attend for 528 days. Just a whole dynamic tilt to life.

22nd August 2021 at 1:35 pm #183187AnonymousYa, Salah definitely off, wouldnt be fair to widen the lines that much 😛 I’d certainly hate to see that against us. A shame alright cause the build up was exceptional. As it was a few other times too. I couldnt be happier with our better moments in that match.

22nd August 2021 at 9:54 pm #183230This is very good business and pleased of the outcome for all parties connected. Thanking you Shaqs. A Playmaker and a bit of a Dangermouse in and around the box; different in comparison to Adam Lallana and Phillipe Coutinho.
We have pleasingly generated revenue and taking a few of our guys off the wage bill.

23rd August 2021 at 12:13 pm #183266I’m thinking back if my memory serves me correctly, Coutinho didn’t leave Liverpool on good terms. I still like the player, but I know a return won’t happen.
Liverpool Echo do seem obsessed linking him to us.

27th August 2021 at 5:10 pm #183687I still think we should have had some sort of a ‘marquee’ signing or a new player that could take us forward.
Links:
Traore
Saar
Damsguaard
Locatelli
Sanches
DokuYet nothing really concrete at all.
