Yeah good point on Keita Mak.
With or without any new signings I think Liverpool will be there or there abouts in the PL at the end of the season.
If I was a Liverpool fan my one concern would be outside of the 11 starters the squad might not be deep enough to win the title without Liverpool got really lucky with injuries.

9th August 2021 at 5:15 pm #182486Anonymousya, the lack of depth is definitely an issue. After the front 3, we have Jota instead of just Origi but we were very lucky to have those 3 for pretty much every game there over the years. With them getting into the later stages of their careers, can we expect this to continue? So Jota is kinda vital but after him, we have essentially nobody… unless we threw young Elliott in up there I suppose but other teams out there have better options than us, yourselves very much included.
We’re at least much better equipped defensively, now. Small blessing!

MBAPPE CONFIRMED
*This is 100% a joke, in case there is someone out there who doesnt know of my position on this 😛

10th August 2021 at 11:18 am #182516The slight ‘silver lining’ if you like was that it was actually refreshing to see we’re on 2 on the player injury list, not including Curtis Jones.
I remain a little suspicious on the training regimes, though the upside is that we’ve generally come out of what was a nightmare last year.
We’re back in routine. I hope Henderson will be ready. Robertson hopefully should only take a month.
I have really seen Kostas Tsimikas, but now’s his chance to step up to the plate.

10th August 2021 at 12:18 pm #182519AnonymousIt’s a chance for Tsimikas to settle in and show what he’s made of. I have a feeling that he might do alright, even if Klopp seemingly doesnt trust him to make the tea. Well, now he has little choice.
Shaqiri is apparently due to move somewhere, I guess we might see that done over the coming day or 2. His move will probably trigger our own, given what Klopp was saying recently. Klopp doesnt hint at anything unless it’s pretty far along. So, I’ll go ahead and say that we’ll definitely be signing someone. Probably not a big name player but I dont care as long as he’s competent and gives us depth.
Im a lot more relaxed now though after seeing Elliott and to a lesser extent, Woodburn. I mention him off the back of praise from Klopp and Linders but for a lad who’s still “only” 21, he’s not bad. Maybe we can fall back on him if absolutely needed, here or there.

10th August 2021 at 9:46 pm #182535Yeah, agree with that Mak. I don’t know what’s happened. We signed Kostas last year. But now if feels half-hearted and sort of ‘the last one left on the shelf’ scenario.
There are plenty of others to recruit as far as left-back goes. Robertson the very ‘blueprint’ of what we achieved with him.
There is rebuilding work needed, but it looks like the clubs really going to have to work through all the gears to sell players surplus to requirements first.

15th August 2021 at 2:48 am #182747AnonymousThe game bored me to tears in large spells, mostly in the first half. It picked up when the 2 boys came on though. The closer we got to our starting 11, the more lethal we were.
We’re off to a good start though, cant wait for the next chance to earn another 3 points.

15th August 2021 at 9:29 am #182751I think to a degree, it’s surprisingly overwhelming. I hope Robertson’s injury is not some sort of bud luck for a knock-on effect on others.
We hadn’t seen Van Dijk, and Matip pair together in ages. What we have in unique against others is experience, and maturity. A fully fit squad in essence to choose from. Who’d have thought: The Ox and Keita in midfield, plus Milner.
Gini’s gone and life after him so it’s regrouping and trying to reignite that familarity. Salah’s goal was the boost we needed and a clean sheet going into the next set of games.

15th August 2021 at 11:32 am #182757Mak…I have said before, Liverpool are in with a good chance of winning title but the next 9 games will define that, as with others in the same race. I think this will be a good season. We will start with some catching up to do as usual, not expecting anything until KDB and Foden are back

15th August 2021 at 2:42 pm #182767AnonymousBrian, I’m very confident that City will wipe the floor with Spurs. I won;t lie, I hadnt taken any real notice of the fixtures list and now see that we have Chelsea next week. That’s too damn early to be playing a rival for the title, in my opinion. Thankfully LFC v Cioty is at least far enough in that we’ll both have our rythm by then.
For today though, you’re going in there with some players missing but Spurs won;t have Kane playing and only because of his protracted move to City. That’s the only reason that he wont be fit, which is kinda criminal in my opinion. Were I Levy, I’d be telling City that because of this match, there was a deadline before it but… anyway it boil down to Spurs not having their best player but the unsettling effect that this whole debacle will have had, will really be something. Now , they might someone be galvanized by this, it’s possible but it’s far more likely that they’ll be unsettled and beaten off the pitch.
Let’s hope for a good game and for this whole Kane -> City scenario to be sorted out soon. personally, I think you’ll sign him. Just a matter of time, in my opinion. Spurs transfer business suggests that they are already spending TBH.

16th August 2021 at 12:10 am #182827AnonymousWe’re going to be without Alisson, Fabinho and Firmino for the Man Utd and Leeds matches.
What a disaster.
the article says that the other teams will also feel it but Utd will lose Fred. ya, that’s equal, right boys?
This better be avoided somehow. That’s a disaster. We might as well start the match at 2-0 down.

16th August 2021 at 10:14 pm #182886AnonymousThey better, cause that’s royally shafting us otherwise.
if something isnt done about it, I wonder if the players might be able to work something out with Brazil. Its not like they arent going to qualify. Where-as the PL title is incredibly difficult to win. This really doesnt help our chances.

17th August 2021 at 9:53 am #182895AFCON is an even bigger problem from the 9th January to the 6th February the new rules aren’t going to change though and Countries aren’t going to back down and weaken themselves to keep Clubs happy we’re all lumbered with it.

17th August 2021 at 11:23 am #182901Well then, we’ll just have to hope for the best and that our players are injury free if we’re not going to be accommodated.
We have plenty of depth in the squad to get through this.

17th August 2021 at 11:27 am #182902Ben Davies on loan to Sheffield United. I think Harvey Elliot is on his for a loan deal too.
We need to start moving our fringe players; e.g. Shaqiri, Origi. It looks like they’re no longer part of Klopp’s future plans.

I don’t agree. Utd are going to be difficult enough, and I think it’s at Old Trafford? Really we are starting the game with one hand tied behind our back. Fabinho and Alisson especially but Firmino too, if he’s actually on form, which it seems he is.
We have nobody in the team who can cover for Fabinho and Kelleher is a young up and coming keeper but is he a patch on Alisson? No. Jota is the only player from our squad who covers well enough for Firmino.
We will lose this match without them, you can hold me to that.
