Jose’s lost the dressing room Sean, that’s what’s happened. But the board don’t know what to do.

16th December 2018 at 6:20 pm #29489As good as Liverpool were today United were bad. Very impressed with Liverpool today they really do look like a team capable of winning the title.

16th December 2018 at 6:28 pm #29490As you say Nine, it’s dangerous to use performances against Utd as a yardstick of any real meaning at the moment. Valencia made us look poor, as did Young Boys, so it would be naive to see this as any sort of confirmation of Liverpool’s title credentials. Tougher tests will come for both City and Liverpool.

16th December 2018 at 6:31 pm #29491Utd were pretty poor. Matic awful. Lukaku not in it. Frankly they were an embarrassment given money spent and history. I hope Jose stays but e en I question whether he should continue. £90m man on the bench. He cant be worse than Herrera and Matic?
By the way I thought Liverpool goals a tad lucky.. deflections etc_____________________________

16th December 2018 at 6:35 pm #29492AnonymousMane was I think around £30m, give or take. Sean, I too see Fabinho as clear man of the match today but my guess is that many wouldn’t see it that way, nice to see you did. Fabinho put in a great shift. he won the ball loads and on top of that he has vision for a pass too. You don’t win the ball as much as he does if you can’t read the play off it but when he gets on it, he is a quick read also. This is what’s going to make him a huge success at this club. He showed this in CL against Red Star. People rightly asked that he replicate this in the PL and although he didn’t do that against Arsenal, he’s really upped his game in the last few and although Utd weren’t a patch on the table topping devils of before, if you can get a MoTM performance in against them, you’re definitely able for the PL.
Keita did alright at times but he was out of the game a while before he was taken off. Is he maybe tired? I hope that’s all it is and not that he wasn’t up to the task. His surges forward give us that extra card, that other dimension. he too has been improving a lot lately though, so I’m not too worried. Players and teams tend to play patchy before they his true form anyway.
Credit to Robertson. Things were going a little flat for us for a while but he really slammed his foot on the gas and I think that ignited something through-out the team. I took Shaqiri out of my fantasy football team because I was worried he wouldn’t start. How right was I? then he comes off the bench to score 2 ha.
Alisson made a mistake but I never lost confidence in him. This mistake is Alissons one weakness. He has the tendency to parry into the path of the opposition. Ok, he wasnt trying to parry but it’s very much the same thing. Anyway, you know he’s the kind of player who has a positive reaction to a howler. All keepers make them but the lads have that assurance that they can push on to get a result. The fans were great too today and you know it helps.
This weekend it was our turn to watch Man City win before we played but I think we’ve smashed the ball back at them, in style. We’re up next in the PL, friday I think. The back and fourth of us and City putting pressure on eachother switches once again. Let’s have the lads enjoy the result but come tomorrow, it’s forgotten. back to business and the pursuit of 3 points resumes!!!
Cheers to the Utd fans on here for having some class and congratulating us. Commiserations and I really hope that Utd pull the trigger on Jose after today. Not just because I feel like we owe him one, for 2013/14 but also because it’s time Utd got back to being a top club again.

16th December 2018 at 6:58 pm #29500Agreed Mak. No question which was the better team.
Cant believe how badly Utd played. Without any silliness what were the Utd tactics? I just couldnt see what their game plan was apart from hoof down the middle. Once again Matic was just awful. One thing I did notice was how pissed off De Gea was. He must be thinking about his future.
As a City fan I hope Jose stays. I begin to think that maybe the players are not putting in 100%.
Getting into the top 4 is looking remote then what? Win the CL or look forward to Thursdays v Qarabag etc._____________________________

16th December 2018 at 7:06 pm #29502United and Mourinho will part company for sure now it’s just now about when. I think the Board would have preferred to hold on until the Summer but they must be thinking can we really hold on under Mourinho until then.

16th December 2018 at 7:12 pm #29503Yeah it’s definitely a question of when, rather than if, now. I really don’t know what we’ll do then. No obvious candidate stands out for me

16th December 2018 at 10:51 pm #29509Feel really sorry for manu, no passion or drive from their players & a manager who is not really showing any ambition or idea of how to get the team going. Remember when we had old Roy in charge & they felt really sorry for us, yeah I feel that kind of sorry HAHAHAHAHAHA.

17th December 2018 at 12:51 am #29512AnonymousAdlab, I touched on it before the game. In fact, it was the foundation for my prediction of 3-0 to Liverpool. Utd seemed to not have a game plan because they couldn’t live with us. It started out with the 2 teams going toe to toe. Utd weren’t terrible initially but soon enough they were on the back foot. It wasn’t too long ago that Utd could nullify our attacking style but as I said, going into this game, we’re a different kind of fish now. I think we play a more traditional, reserved brand of football which doesn’t suit Jose.
We just don’t have the same tactical weaknesses to exploit anymore and when Jose switched Utd to a more defensive style at around 20-30 mins, he was able to slow us down but this is the thing with us now, we look more and more dangerous as matches go on now. It used to be the exact opposite. We’re no longer as deadly or relentless in the pressure we apply but we are now able to do our thing longer. Tactically and physically, parking the bus just doesn’t work against us anymore. Killing the game just doesn’t work anymore. teams have been trying it but there is a certain sense of inevitability that we will eventually break teams down now. I’ll admit that I was getting a little nervous but I was still pretty confident that we’d find a way through and I think the fans did too. If the fans believe, the players believe but if the players are playing with purpose then the fans believe. Which comes first? Who cares.
It was a big big win but really, all it does is keep our nose ahead of City. I can’t say that I am starting to believe just yet but that has nothing to do with us. I believe we’ll finish the season with an absolutely huge amount of points. I also have some belief in Pepe and his team. It’s not the same kind as I obviously don’t want them to do so well but they just won’t drop many points between now and the end of the season. They are still massive favourites but I have to say that I really don’t care right now. I’m only interested in knowing where our next 3 points is coming from and I hope the team stay focused on the same.

17th December 2018 at 12:57 am #29513AnonymousAussie, I do remember the abuse and laughter from Utd fans alright. That time under Roy was so incredibly painful. I was stunned to see recently enough that he wasnt even at the club a season, it felt like 2 at least. That was a heart breaking time and TBH, with jokes aside, I do feel bad for the classier Utd fans.
It’s also just weird to see Sky backing Mourinho. They talked about whether he might get the sack or not, after the game… and it was 80% excuses. Now, many of the excuses are actually good points and the people in charge are who I’d look at but… He’s very clearly got to go. They were banging on about how Utd didnt get the CB that he wanted. He had an £80m+ player on the bench because the player doesn’t want to play for him. How many times has he said something negative about his own lads? he’s very clearly lost the dressing room but will the board act? I don’t see why they would, as they seem to be utterly incompetent. heads have got to roll and not just Joses.
Neville said he wants to see Jose see out the season but surely you want the new guy in ASAP so next season is also not totally flushed down the toilet. They’ve had a long time now to find a replacement. If this was Liverpool i’d be tearing my hair out.
