12th January 2022 at 10:12 pm #193317Hope you’re well soon Adlab.
Well after those two semi-finals, I thought Spurs were completely toothless. For all the “Imagine what Conte would have done at Utd” comments, I can’t say I’m losing any sleep over us not getting him. Even Mourinho got to a final with that lot π.
Obviously not writing Conte off. I do rate him but I’m seeing nothing so far to suggest he’d have been an obvious next manager for Utd.

12th January 2022 at 10:58 pm #193321Ed,
I think you are a bit unfair to Conte if you are judging with that Spurs team. Apart from Kane nobw would walk into the Chelsea, Liverpool and City line ups. Covid has also disrupted his momentum as he has more games postponed.
United has obviosly a better squad than Spurs, and they have more money than Spurs. I think Conte would have done wonderful at United. I don’t wish him ti succeed at Spurs, but i think he will make them competitve.

12th January 2022 at 11:10 pm #193322Maybe so young blue. But they were never even in the tie. Hardly any of the ball at home and hardly any shots on target in a game they needed to win. Look what Brighton did at Chelsea a couple of weeks ago. Took the game to them and were the better side at Stamford Bridge. So it can be done.

12th January 2022 at 11:23 pm #193324Ed,
Brighton where lucky enough to play a Chelsea that gad been depelated by injuries and Covid-19. Against Spurs, it was a full Chelsea squad.

Azpi Rudiger Christensen
Pulisic Kovacic Jorginho James
Mount Hudson-Odoi
LukakuI’m sorry but injuries are not an excuse with that side young blue. That’s an incredible array of talent. Brighton deserve credit for that performance.

13th January 2022 at 12:14 am #193326yeah, Ed. That’s harsh!
At the start of the season, after you guys signed Ronaldo, most people on here said Ole had no excuses and now had a squad that should be challenging for the league. Spurs really only have two really class players in Son and Kane. What he’s already achieved at Spurs with limited resources is far greater than Ragnick has with a crazy squad

13th January 2022 at 4:23 am #193327In all honesty I have not seen United play one good game under Rangnick despite winning 5 out of his 8 games in charge, they been very fortunate in every win and those wins can be attributed to the class of players they have. Out of all the current managers in Europe Pep would be my first choice with Klopp and Conte more or less on par 2nd, the rest would be very far behind.

13th January 2022 at 5:12 am #193329Hugo, Reggie, Dier, Romero, Skipp, Son… generally regulars under Antonio… (although Hugo and Skippy were on the bench, don’t know what he was thinking there!)

13th January 2022 at 5:50 am #193330Very strange decision by Conte to leave Lloris out in favour of Gollini.

13th January 2022 at 5:54 am #193331I actually thought Spurs were a bit unlucky, as they seemed to gain momentum all the vital close decision went against them even though they appeared to be eventually correct. But it did have a negative impact on their game. Spurs squad are in real need of a couple of decent players all round, not sure why Levy hasn’t done nothing yet.

13th January 2022 at 6:28 am #193332Rover, I’m not interested in defending Rangnick. We’ve been terrible. But I see so many comments about how Utd made a mistake regarding Conte and how much better we’d have been under him.
Part of the problem under Rangnick has been a lack of desire and effort on the players’ part. I saw very little desire or ambition from Spurs across the two legs. Quite happy to let Chelsea control the game.

13th January 2022 at 8:10 am #193336Conte hadnβt lost a pl game in 8 games and without doubt is making progress at spurs. Heβs there two months ! He cannot be judged now. Letβs see how he gets on next season and when he had built his team. Spurs have a terrible squad compared to utd.
Chelsea are a much much better team then spurs and absolutely bettered them already this season. Not sure what anyone expected them to do in this tie.

13th January 2022 at 9:18 am #193340Sean, my point is about ambition and desire. Brighton took the game to Chelsea. As did Villa earlier in the season. 2 much worse sides than Spurs and both were the better side at Stamford Bridge. Spurs were never in the tie.

13th January 2022 at 11:29 am #193344No they didn’t stand a chance. The away goal rule would probably have made things more difficult. Rubbish 2 ties above all.

13th January 2022 at 5:42 pm #193360Interesting game tonight whether it’s a contest depends on which Arsenal turn up if Arsenal play to the level they did v City they’ve got got half a chance over 2 legs with Liverpool being without Salah, Mane and Keita.
The news below won’t help Arsenal.
“Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been dealt a major blow ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final with Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Emile Smith Rowe all set to miss the clash. The trio have failed to make the cut as the Gunners look to take one step towards Wembley following last week’s postponed tie at the Emirates Stadium.” Express 13/01
SkyBet look they’ve got the odds just about right for tonight:
Liverpool Win
4/6
Draw
3/1
Arsenal Win
15/4_____________________________
