I know threeps! Miss the old days when I could astound everybody on the Liverpool TT page with what looked an unlikely team, only for that to be the team the next day! Even some of the self-styled ‘experts’ on that forum had to admit they were wrong and I was right. But sadly, Lucas left the club, and his ‘bagman’ with him, and my mole left!!

Looking forward to tomorrow night…it really is a no-lose scenario for me. Will be good to see some of the kids in the flesh…particularly looking forward to seeing Elliot and Brewster!

Mac….I cannot explain why , maybe it is a generation thing but I never get excited about European games as I do about the Domestic scene. I am probably with the minority on this but as we are aware the CL will evolve, for better or worse, I do not know and then there is the politics of European football. I get more excitement from watching say watching Yeovi v Arsenal or Accrington v Liverpool remember the great match last year, I think Rochdale v Spurs that, to me is football. Respect those that love CL though, just not so interesting for me maybe Real madrid/Barcelona/ Juventus killed it off for me but I really do not have a definitive answer

Brian, don’t worry about it man. There’s no great offense committed by accidentally saying Mac 😛

As for the minnows versus giants stuff, I had one of the guys across from me talking about those types of matches. He was extremely irate about it all, I couldn’t get a bloody word in but he is a Sunderland supporter. So they are the minnows. He said something about losing Henderson to us. Was like he blamed me, the way he was talking, the guy was not happy, which is unlike him TBH. It didn’t occur to me at the time but I should have said “you can have him back!” *sits back and watches fellow Liverpool fans heads explode* .. Relax lads, I’m just joking, there’s no way he’d get into the Sunderland team 😛 Ok enough with the jokes before my own kind cast me to the sea. Do I really need a disclaimer to say that Hendo is actually a decent player in his current position? Well there you have it, now put the plank away boys.

Brian, I guess my own preference comes from growing up watching highlights from the Serie A and seeing all these great teams in the CL. Juve, Milan, Ajax, Real, Barca. There were some crazy good players back in the day. Batistuta! now that guy knew where the goal was. THAT level of football was out of our reach for a good while. We had Fowler etc but no CL but then when Rafa came along, BOOM we were there and had won the bloody thing. The following 4 years were all KO round CL football, so it definitely developed a culture within the fanbase. It helped that Anfield was utterly mental in the big CL home fixtures. So, now, even though I’d LOVE the PL, it’s mostly because we havent won it. Once we win the PL, m,y guess is the preference will be the CL for many fans. Most? maybe not quite but I’d probably be one of them.

I did love the FA Cup growing up but for some reason, not so much now. The finals are always special but I’ve got my eyes on other prizes until that point comes around. Well, or a late tie against a rival. Then obviously it’s great but this LC game against Arsenal?… I’d throw it away for a win against Villa and City. Without a second thought.
