Sorry Nil, how would it be a “great achievement” if YooUtd win it? Since Ferige left, they’ve spunked about 600 million trying to buy it… great achievement my arse…

19th November 2017 at 2:55 pm #7667Chucky, I totally get that mate. I was just coming from the angle of filling the big shoes that Fergie left and trying to reignite that continuity of winning trophies including of course the league.
The money side of it sadly spoils the aesthetics, and plus we’re unlikely to see in the modern era now, half a dozen of youngsters being unleashed onto the main circuit of senior players, but it’s the way the industry is.
Though I’m not using that to excuse the spending, but supporters and owners are looking for an instantaneous turnaround when it comes to important matters that need addressing.
That’s why I hope for example, Jurgen Klopp is allowed to serve his full 4 (years I think it is) that he signed for.
It’s unlikely Jose is long-term for United and we’ll soon see yet another managerial change there.
Maybe perhaps ‘great’ is over-egging the pudding, but winning the league is always an achievement when you consider the serious competition that has come from both Chelsea and Man City.

19th November 2017 at 7:27 pm #7695Jim, cheers buddie but whilst I’m still going to pop in on here occasionally it will be a bit more infrequent than previously.
Re your post@6:53pm the latest SkyBet Odds odds following the games on 18/19th November have United now at 12/1 and Spurs now at 25/1.
I heard on the Radio today but can’t find it anywhere that the odds on City going unbeaten in the PL are 25/1. Hell of a hit from KDB yesterday. Cheers 999

19th November 2017 at 7:45 pm #7697Mav – I’m interested why you think all the chasing pack are ‘one man teams’. I think that does a disservice to them to be honest. Spurs with Kane, Lloris, Alder…etc, Manyoo with De Gea, Pogba and..,
Liverpool with Coutinho, Salah and Mane, Chelsea with Hazard, Kante and Morata and even Arsenal with Sanchez, Ozil. I would agree with you if you had said that City have MORE world class players at the very top of their game than their challengers, but all the teams are more than just one man teams surely!_____________________________

19th November 2017 at 8:25 pm #7698Hang in there nine please. For this site to continue be interesting and diverse it needs posters like you. NB can I suggest that you try and be a bit more restrained in your posts at times. I know you have attracted more of your fair share of nasty responses over the years on different forums but that is no reason to have a pop at other posters like nine on this forum. Please try and keep things in perspective. Cheers Jim. Ps I hope you take this post in the spirit that it was intended.

20th November 2017 at 11:24 am #7708Hh-United without Pogba struggle to create anything,DDG is a goalie mate,Chelsea without Hazard,Spurs without Kane,Arsenal without Sanchez,Liverpool without Mane!.City have KDB-the best player in the league by a mile,D.Silva,Sane,Sterling,Aguero,B.Silva,Jesus-all of them very dangerous and always a threat with City scoring for fun.For an opposition to stop KDB and Sane they require 2 players each, that is 4 players taken out, where does that leave the “little magician” in D.Silva?! Then you have Sterling,Aguero,Jesus!.

28th November 2017 at 8:36 am #8015I’d have to take the time to research it, but over the 25 year or so period of the rebranding of top the top flight league, I think Newcastle one season went something like 10 or so straight wins.
I can’t say re the title odds because back in that time, we didn’t have such accessibility of digital info like we do now.
I actually have a little bit of admiration for Man United’s 2003 title win because I think Arsenal threw it away after having quite a wide lead.
Also remember when Itv used to host ‘The Premiership’ and Liverpool 2001/02 themselves held a 10 point lead or something around October.
I personally believe these odds made are purely down to the manner in which City have won their fixtures combined with not being defeated.
The Bookmakers who think they have some sort of crystal ball, I sincerely hope they are proven wrong. The slight trouble is, albeit maybe United and Chelsea, the others is terms of threat for contenders will short.

28th November 2017 at 2:19 pm #8032Nil, Chelsea alongside Arsenal hold the record for the most consecutive PL wins in a Season for 13 consecutive wins in the 2016/17 PL title winning Season matching Arsenal’s record 13 consecutive wins in the PL in Arsenal’s PL title winning Season in the 2001/2002 Season.
Chelsea also hold the PL record of the most wins in a Season achieving 30 wins in a Season in the 2016/17 Season.
There’s every chance imo that this Season City will sadly take both those PL records.
